Sony rewards was much, much better including the amount of points you would earn per purchase. I managed to earn a PS4 console with my points.
I always felt like it was too good for this decade which is why this news doesn't surprise me.

Yeah, it used to be fire. Especially with 5x the points. That, combined with GCU from Best Buy, I barely spent a thing on games last gen.
It's still tracking your progress, Sony confirmed that tracking is still working, the UI isn't up yet however.

The icon is back on the PS App and it looks different. Not sure if they intended to revamp it a bit and it all backfired?

They added back the icon so when you click on it, it says they are aware of the issue and the engineers are working on a solution.
That is how the icon looks when you initially sign up, FWIW.

I really loved this when I had a PlayStation CC. It paid for my PS+ and a few games each year. Unfortunately, when the account went to the Comenity Bank I had issues. Someone kept changing my address (nothing else) and they could not explain to me how/why it kept happening. I closed the account and moved to an Apple card. The rewards are okay, but not as good. The card/app itself is one of the best I have ever used.
I really do not earn much in rewards with the current Sony rewards, at least not enough to make me sad if it goes away.

Well shit...I have a Playstation credit card that I do all my purchasing on, I haven't bought a game with my own money in many years, this sucks!

As soon as they got rid of the repeatable earned game trophies for rewards points is where it was not as good. That was easily abused for constant stream of free games and PSN cash, so I can see why.
I spent nothing on PSN or games when it existed.
