Visually and acoustically, Star Fox impressed us across the board. The overall atmosphere is more intense, more immersive, and still retains that essential sense of nostalgia for longtime veterans. All the more disappointing, then, is the lack of additional missions to expand the relatively short single-player campaign. While the Challenge Mode is a nice extra for achievement hunters, full-fledged missions or even a second campaign would have added significant value to the remake. The multiplayer mode also suffers from a limited number of maps and mission types, even though the core gameplay is enjoyable. We hope that Star Fox marks a reboot of the series and that this high level of quality can be maintained in future installments.

Console Creatures - Bobby Pashalidis - 8 / 10
Star Fox feels like it's on the cusp of relevance with this masterfully done remake of an iconic classic. The same familiar action from the original is wonderfully realized on the Switch 2, adding more nuance, fleshed-out cutscenes, and all the wonderfully weird secrets fans can expect to uncover.

Digitec Magazine - Philipp Rüegg - German - 4 / 5
'Star Fox' remains a fantastic action game with no real competition. Where else do you get to battle flying monkey heads whilst a space frog shouts tips at you? The remake stays true to the original, but gives the graphics a massive overhaul and sensibly modernises the controls.

Even if it's just "reheated food" for Nintendo's most hardcore fans, there could hardly be a better foundation on which to build the future of the Star Fox series.

Eurogamer.pt - Bruno Galvão - Portuguese - 4 / 5
Star Fox 2026 is a game straight out of 1997, with all the personality and simplicity that entails. It's a game you can finish in an afternoon, but the gameplay is fun and unique enough to make every hour rewarding.

Forbes - Ollie Barder - 8 / 10
Overall, Star Fox is a very faithful remake of Star Fox 64, with added depth and complexity for how you tackle the branched mission structure. It also looks wonderful throughout, and the lifelike character renditions hit me right in the childhood. So if, like me, you grew up with these games, you will absolutely love this remake. Although I feel newer players may find it functionally a tad old school.

Gameblog - French - 7 / 10
Star Fox is a remake that fully preserves the essence of Lylat Wars whilst modernising not only its graphics but also its gameplay mechanics. However, it's been a long time since the heyday of the Nintendo 64. So, whilst the characters' charm and the Arwing controls still hold their own, this reimagining lacks the boldness needed to overcome the limitations of the rail shooter genre today. At 50 euros, it's still a good opportunity to rediscover a major exclusive from the Kyoto-based company's history, but it will take more than this to truly put the franchise back on track.

Gameliner - Rudy Wijnberg - Dutch - 4.5 / 5
This is, without a doubt, the best Star Fox game to date.

Giant Bomb - Mike Minotti - 4 / 5
It's nice to have the Star Fox crew back, even if it isn't in the most ambitious of games. Although it's certainly one of Nintendo's prettiest.

Loot Level Chill - Lyle Pendle - 10 / 10
Star Fox is back and better than ever, with gorgeous new visuals, sensational new content, and that same charming crew you already love.

Nintendo Blast - Alan Murilo Pereira Duque - Portuguese - 8.5 / 10
Recommended for both newcomers and veterans alike, Star Fox elevates Nintendo's charismatic franchise to new heights on the Switch 2, introducing welcome new features while delivering a spectacular reimagining worthy of the 1997 classic's legacy. So, if there was ever any doubt, it is now gone: redesigned and revitalized for the current generation, young McCloud and his crew have a very promising future ahead, and the decision to unite past and present through a remake has proven to be a brilliant move.

Nintendo Connect - Tim Henze - German - 100%
Not only has Nintendo pulled off a perfect reboot of the Star Fox series, but we've also been treated to yet another must-have title for the Nintendo Switch 2. Now all that's left is to wait for a truly new installment in the Star Fox saga.

PPE.pl - Wojciech Gruszczyk - Polish - 8 / 10
Star Fox is a successful remake of the legendary Nintendo game, which retains the excellent, fast-paced gameplay whilst adding new graphics, cinematic presentation and several interesting modes. However, the game still has limitations stemming from the structure of the original. Fans of the series will have a brilliant time, but those hoping for a fully-fledged new instalment may be left feeling somewhat unsatisfied.

SECTOR.sk - Matúš Štrba - Slovak - 8.5 / 10
Star Fox successfully modernizes Nintendo's classic rail shooter formula without losing what made it special in the first place. Fast-paced combat, excellent replay value, strong presentation, and a surprisingly fun multiplayer mode make it one of the series' strongest entries. While the campaign could be longer and longtime fans may find the core experience very familiar, it's a confident and highly entertaining return for Fox McCloud and his team.

Saudi Gamer - عصام الشهوان - Arabic - 3.5 / 5
A classic brought to life in a gorgeous and faithful fashion that preserves its replayable arcadey feel and its colorful cast of characters.

TheSixthAxis - Dominic Leighton - 7 / 10
Star Fox is a fairly safe remaster, and for fans of the original there's a lot here to love, especially the incredible audio-visual upgrade. The central mode is showing its age mechanically, though, and without the power of nostalgia, I'm interested to see how people respond to its classic on-rails action. Meanwhile, the online mode is deserving of your and your friends' time, but you have to hope that some extra attention is poured into it post-launch.

Wccftech - Nathan Birch - 8.5 / 10
Star Fox's combination of tried-and-true N64 mission design, stunning new visuals, and technical polish results in a game that feels both nostalgic and surprisingly fresh, exciting, and fun here in 2026. Yes, perhaps more fully original content could have been added to the package, but this new Star Fox did a surprisingly adept job of barrel rolling past my concerns and should satisfy veteran and newcomer wingmen alike.

WellPlayed - Ash Wayling - 9 / 10
Whether you are a veteran Arwing pilot or a complete newcomer finally ready to tackle Andross, this 2026 revival is an absolute must-play. Beautifully honouring its arcade roots while proving that some formulas truly are timeless, Team Star Fox is just as vital today as they were over three decades ago.
