Terrifier 2 is the sickest splatter flick of the year

Just watched Terrifier 2, new indie budget b-horror launching with a seemingly unintentional marketing campaign masterclass of apparently causing people to puke and faint in theaters.

The movie is IMO hilarious and so over-the-top savage and perverted in practical effect gore I can't think of anything to compare it to in recent years.

Highly recommended. Now I have to watch the first one.

The extreme reactions sparked the director, Leone, to tweet out to fans, "To everyone saying that reports of people fainting and puking during screenings of Terrifier 2 is a marketing ploy, I swear on the success of the film it is NOT. These reports are 100% legit. I wish we were smart enough to think of that…But then again we didn’t need to."

Leone is also credited as doing special effects makeup for the movie.

One person shared to Twitter, "My friend passed out, and the theater called an ambulance. Highly recommended."

Another person wrote, "So I umm… just got done watching Terrifier 2.. and yeah, this has been the most disturbing movie I have ever seen. Like this s--- is on a different level of sadistic. We were so stunned that we couldn’t even speak after it ended."

Eh. My days of watching a flick purely for the gore ended a long time ago. Not seeing much about this that’s worth bothering with, outside of a load of gruesome shit I’ve seen a million times before. Glad modern day gorehounds have something to get behind though.

I've seen so much gore in films that I'm immune to it, as I would assume most people are. I can't fathom what must be in this film to get people to faint and puke.

How many times does the clown get overpowered by a protagonist only for them to run and hide behind a box ten feet away rather than finishing him off? This was a way to common thing in the first movie.

Watched it earlier today.

Thought it was crap tbh. The gore and violence is excessive for the sake of being excessive and falls into the category of "gore for the sake of gore" which get's old pretty fast, especially in a movie that has a runtime of nearly 2.5 hours. And yes, that runtime really hurts the movie and should have been cut down by 45 minutes at least.

The antagonist is played well, but there's nothing interesting about the character - he exists just to be "that creepy sadistic clown". The creepy girl was better.

The most memorable takeaway from it is that during some of the many dull spots in the movie I looked up the actors and was amused to find that the actress who played the teenage protagonist is actually older than the actress who played her mother.

It was crap

Not much holding the story together

Crap acting/writing

A lot of useless runtime and ideas that went nowhere.

Zero exposition where its needed

Exists solely due to art the clown’s design and goreporn

The first movie was a generic gore porn flick. I'm not sure if I'll bother with the sequel, but upon seeing articles along the lines of : "Yo ho ho and a bottle of cum! Terrifier 2 is so scary it fucked my dad!" I'm beginning to reconsider out of pure curiosity.

We watched the first one awhile back and it didn't do anything for me. I'm not particularly into gore movies though.

Loved the first one, and looking forward to this. Although the jumbo run-time strikes me as not the greatest idea.

Splatter/Slasher movies are supposed to be like roller-coasters, so making the longest one ever kinda risks missing the point.

Oh yeah, and speaking of missing the fucking point. What's with all you pussies whinging about "gore porn"? You do get that horror movies are supposed to contain horrific episodes right, its in the friggin' name. Its like complaining about dance numbers in a musical or fight scenes in a martial-arts flick.

The roots of the entire genre lie in the traditions of the French Theare du Grand Guignol, which no doubt would be decried by today's milquetoast generation as "torture porn" too.

Surely I don't need to see Terrifier 1 first, right? If everyone's saying it's just the same thing but much better. Can't say I care too much about the lore of the Terrifier world.

Watched this yesterday and I actually really enjoyed it. The over the top gore scenes are few and far between, and spaced out enough that it isn't a relentless onslaught of gore. It felt like an old school film where the characters were likeable enough in a simple kinda way. The ending was a bit weak, but I could forgive it that.

Don't worry, nothing here makes sense. What's funny is the sequel is written as if it was a direct continuation of a previous story. Turns out it's almost totally unrelated to T1, rather timid and polite in comparison.

I usually don’t care about gore but this was just gross. It wasn’t scary and I like the clown as a horror mascot but it reminded me of high school when kids would share snuff videos on their phones (2 guys 1 hammer etc). Not a fun or entertaining watch for me

Sorry but I'm not buying the hype. Just looks too cheap and retarded.

ps
I watched tons of Lucio Fulci and New French Extremity movies so it's not about the gore element at all. More that it's from Bloody Disgusting (have they ever produced anything watcheable?) and the overall cheapness.

I didn't realize BD were involved, at least it looks like its somewhat tangential unlike anything from XYZ who have always had a way too cozy relationship with BD/ScreenAnarchy.

Terrible, terrible website. If they spent as much time actually appreciating the history and traditions of the genre as they do virtue signalling it might approach readability.

PS. I wouldn't be too put off by the lack of budget. The original Terrifier was a real micro-budget indie that ended up punching above its weight quality-wise. Not to say it was any sort of classic because, lets face it, most modern attempts at retro slasher/splatter have set such a low bar, it doesn't take much to look good comparatively.

This is available on the open seas, watching it now.

The violence is indeed quite severe, lol.

I enjoyed the movie, it had a cool style and vibe to it. The gore is over the top, doesn't look real, and is mostly comedic in nature.

Art and the little girl were well done and i'm in love with the main girl.

This movie takes forever to get going, holy crap. It's 40 minutes now and pretty much nothing has happened.
