The Cross Buy and PC icons have been removed from PlayStation's back end

It's terrible if their first party games is the number one reason why you're buying their console.

Also, you might not want to play ALL of their games, it's not like every game is a 10 and you might not like all genres. So when the output is lower you can end up not using the console for long periods of time.

In my case, I bought the Pro, finished up Astro Bot for the platinum, played maybe 5 hours of Stellar Blade after the Pro update. Then nothing. That's expensive hours. Last year I didn't get any yearly gaming stats, apparently because you had to use the console for 10 hours… So, yeah. 😕

I just can't keep buying their consoles for their first party games when they release so few games.

PC was the perfect solution for me, I already have the hardware so I can focus on just buying their games. Perfect! And I've bought nearly all they have there. Minus multiplayer titles since that's not my thing.

But now they're ending that. So what can I do?
From my perspective they're pushing me away since, again, I can't keep buying their consoles when they release so few games.

I think Sony would view you as a lost PS gamer to PC, instead of them pushing you away. Most people have never bought a Playstation console only for 1st party games. But you're right, making games take longer now so they can't do what they did during the PS3 generation.

My assumption is they hope to get you back with the PS6, but that probably won't happen.

Sony run back to their house crying.

lets pour more money on gaas and marathon sony.

I mean you never know, just bought a guitar for ~$4k so it's not like I'm super careful how I use my money, but yeah right now it seems unlikely that I'll be there for PS6. Maybe they pull me in with a Pro idk. Or maybe they reverse the new strategy, I'm hoping for that.

Dang bro! You got bread. $4k is crazy!

Directly converted from Swedish currency, taxes included, plus import toll cost and shipping from Japan. Probably goes for half in the US… I always get robbed.
The PS5 Pro including discdrive, I think I paid the equivalent of $1300 for that. Games goes for $95, standard editions.
😞

haven't seen many PC gamers trying to convince me that they're "happy"; they just seem indifferent.

The only ones who seem truly happy are Sony fans, as this helps justify their decision to buy a PlayStation, which has proven to be terrible so far this gen, especially the PS5 Pro.
I've already addressed this in my response to Bloodfire. I was pointing to the indifference and concluding that PC gamers "seem" happy, I was being a little sarcastic. And my history on this forum might bias me a little bit towards these people but the point ultimately was, PC gamers don't seem to care (or want others to think they don't care about PS games) so 🤷‍♂️ (shrug/meh/whatever/who cares).

It's so obvious PC ports are second fiddle with exception of GAAS where Helldivers 2 sold a ton on PC.
I mean, yeah, Sony hasn't exactly been prioritizing the PC but they were definitely trying to position themselves better on PC before witnessing how it affected Xbox. Their approach to PC obviously was slower than some people would have liked.

But the rest of their ports sell so little collectively that as long as the porting costs are low (which everyone assumes it is), it's basically free money and profits especially for the bigger name games that sell. Ok, ports like Sackboy and R&C seemed like wastes of time, but many of their AAA games probably sold enough to be worth doing. That's what Nixxes is for anyway. Sony even keeps it low key since port announcements are buried in a tweet or PS Blog post so most gamers wouldnt even know unless they followed every news bite.
Sell so little after 2 or more years after releasing on PlayStation, and again, when there was no expectation of a release on PC and Sackboy deserves better, it is a solid game.

Since PC port sales are low and PS5 console sales are still selling great, it shows the PS crowd isnt flooding over to PC killing the brand. And PC ports have been done since 2020! The first port (Horizon) even came out on PC before PS5 even launched. Made no difference.
And I think that is exactly because of what Sony's approach to PC has been so far... experiment but don't fully commit. If they had committed completely like Xbox did, it could have been a similar story, specially with the rumors of the "Cross buy" program. Something Sony has **actually** done in the past within their systems, with games they made/published.

But why would they do all that and make their platform unnecessary?

I am saying Sony never fully committed to PC as a platform, just experimented with it and with mostly older titles. Their priority has remained their console box and given the topic of this thread, PC seems to be completely off the table, despite the rumored plans.
