They were put in jail? The article doesn't say that. Just arrested, charged and suspended from school.

I saw a longer report on television. They were put in juvenile detention.

Now honestly, was there any need to do this? Any kid with a pen does this kind of stuff (even I did it when I was a kid, and I sure as hell know I'm not a (total) mentalcase)

Felony charges? What the fuck....whats wrong with getting the parents involved and informing THEM of the picture. Then again they gave the picture to the kid but still not far enough for them to get arrested and given felony charges.

I think this is the real tragedy. If anything kids lust to spell profanities correctly. Where did we go wrong

*hangs head in shame*

As each day goes by, people in this country get dumber and dumber.

Great thread title. I gotta use pussification in conversation later.

I can't believe that they arrested them for this. This doesn't make sense. It isn't even funny. WTF?

They took a nine and a ten year old out of school in fucking handcuffs. For drawing nasty pictures.

This isn't even funny. It's insane.

The justification was that the drawing caused fear in the "victum"? So if I show my kid a video for the sole purpose to cause fear then I could face felony charges? wtf?

I can see the schols point of view, though I dont agree with it.

It is a threat on some ones life which is also a threat on their right to live. This is against the law.

That throwing stick stunt of yours has boomeranged on us.

But it's not even the Christian's who do this dumb shit. Christian retarded stuff is banning books, or even better, burning them. This zero tolerance bullshit is more liberal-retarded.

I don't know how to characterize this situation, but I thought the whole zero tolerance movement started with the education changes Bush made in Texas years ago.

....my generation would have never made it through school if that was the case... pussified indeed.

Threat on his life? Are you fucking joking. Now I'm not an "educator" or anything like this but, how about this you get the 10 year old who drew the picture and pull him to the side and ask him why the kid he is stabbing makes him so mad. What did he do to make him so angry. Then ask him if he understands that when you stab someone in real life they don't come back like a video game. If there was a problem then figure it out. As an educator I'd make the kid who drew the picture work on an assignment with the kid he didn't like. This is something that all the teacher needed to do is keep an eye on. Not send the kids to pound me up the ass penetantary.

What I find most strange about this is that the reporter in the video on local6.com said one of the boys was involved in actual, physical violence against another child, which didn't result in criminal charges (not saying it should have, I mean he's 9 or 10 years old, all kids have stupid fights), yet a simple drawing had the pair of them escorted from school in handcuffs, facing felony charges. Get the kids some counselling for crying out loud. :(

I'm pretty sure if anything can be pointed to as the "start" of situations like these, it was Columbine. Nothing put the fear of children into everyone's head quite like a few kids shooting up a school.

I never remembered hearing about shit like this before Columbine.. now I hear about it once a month. 2 kids go ape shit and suddenly the world thinks every kid needs to live a life where Violence and depictions there-of are not a reality

And I mean that's fine if you want to monitor a child or send him/her to counseling, but I don't know what would be served by felony prosecution of a 10 year old based on drawings. But heaven forbid a boob get on the screen :)

This reminds me of that time a classmate of mine in elementary school got suspended for drawing The Ultimate Warrior from WWF. Just as he was drawing the nipple on the right chest, the Librarian walks by and sees the drawing of basically, a shirtless, nipples exposed, longhaired figure. She yanked the paper away from him and sent him to the office.

It was a pretty intimidating thing to witness. To me it was obvious what he was drawing, but I guess she wasn't a wrestling fan. The kid didn't even speak English, so he probably wasn't even able to explain himself.
