What racing games have drafting?

Lots of racing games have that (every sim should have that at least).... most of them don't write it up on the box as a "feature" though.

This thread has made it obvious I need to dig through my collection again and look for this in the mentioned games. :p

As mentioned earlier, just about every sim worth its salt has this in some form. It's probably not bashed over your head in-game, it's there.

"i believe pgr has it but they also use this gay system called "kudos points". It's quite gay and I suggest you stay away due to the massive amount of gayness."

:lol

Mario Kart DS uses it. It's the first time it has actually played a big part in a Mario Kart game. At least from what I've played = people keep passing me at the finish line:)

You'd be hard pressed to find a racer that DOESN'T feature drafting.

Maybe Wipeout? F-Zero? Any racer with wheels would have it, I gather.

I love how it works out in mario kart. The difference in max speed is not that big in between the different characters so you can draft for long times. Plus it can actaully give you the edge to catch up to someone. :)

are you guys confusing drafting with drifting, or are they the same thing and im the one confuesd? Drafting is where you follow behind a lead car, nascar style, no?

Yes, we are talking about Drafting

You get a speed boost from following behind your opponent

Drifting is where you skid around corners, Mario Kart style and such

or maybe, demi, you and i are both confused and in reality everyone is talking about

A futuristic racer that has gameplay built around drafting = Tube Slider for GCN, which also happens to take the win for WORST GAME TITLE EVER.

I believe Tube Slider, made by NDCube for NEC was originally supposed to be the new FZero, but then NCL pulled the publishing plug from them and went with Sega. Very wise choice on NCLs part I might add.

The Midnight Club series definitely had a drafting system, at least from 2. I never played the first one so I'm not sure about it.

ANYONE ELSE LIKE TO DRAFT BIG RIGS ON THE FREEWAY? I LOVE THE DANGER

They go too slow.

I do draft speeders on the highway though. I drive 850 km twice a month back and forth between 2 places and whenever I see a speeder I follow them because first off, they may have a radar detector and know when and when not to speed, and secondly I can draft them and save some gas. I've noticed some of them giving me weird looks when I pass them because I'm so close to them for a good 200 km stretch.

It DOES save gas and you can hear the difference with less wind hitting your car. You do have to be a bit close though. Driving that close at high speeds (100 mph and up) is pretty dangerous, these people could slow down at any time if they see a cop.
