Xbox 360: VGA or component?

I just switched from Component to VGA, and the difference is very noticeable. I run a 42-inch Westinghouse 1080p LCD, and the VGA cable makes the picture not only sharper, but much clearer and the color looks a lot better.

I doubted the benefits, but in my case, the VGA cable made a huge difference.

Which TV?

Sony Bravia KDL-32V2000.

Which is somewhat of a bummer since you said your 40" looks great with VGA, whereas I find my 32" just too dull when used with VGA.

VGA is essentially the EXACT SAME as component!

You still aren't getting it! The issue is that the VGA inputs on different TVs are calibrated differently. It isn't about the output, it's about the input. You won't know which is best until you test.

Shit, that rhymes, I should make it my catch-phrase for VGA v component threads from now on.

"Yo, yo, aiight, check it - you wont know which cable is best, until you plug em in to test.

One looove...."

Poona: Mine was really badly washed out before that dash update with the VGA colour options, but once I changed to the new colour ranges and tweaked the input settings a little (jacked up the pic and contrast levels a bit) I got it to look terrific.

Mind you it wasn't mind-blowingly better or anything though, so I still use component these days just so I can keep the VGA jack free for my laptop.

How is playing in 1280x1024? Are games aspect ratios messed up? Do some play letterboxed or such?

It's kind of a weird question, but I remember I heard about Tomb Raider Legend ****ing up in VGA 1280x1024.
