The Japanese market has started to recover after almost a month of lackluster sales with almost double the amount of units sold compared to last week. However the market is still below the weekly average, implying that the Japanese market in general is still in some amount of trouble.

First week sales for Sega’s new soccer management title were extremely healthy though with around 215,000 units sold. Namco’s Xenosaga sequel also did well with about 186,000 units sold. However Square Enix will be slightly disappointed with the performance of their latest portable Dragon Quest title, which is normally considered the strongest of all RPG brands in Japan.

In hardware sales the PlayStation 2 has retaken the top spot with a 47.74% market share, compared to 44.38% for the Game Boy Advance, 7.02% for the GameCube and 0.48% for the Xbox.

It's always got a home on the PS2 where it'll sell just fine.

They weren't posted up for some insane reason. I hope they're posted again next week.

Xenosaga II is pretty disappointing if they were expecting 600,000. It's hardly even as good as Tales of Symphonia on the GC.

More like they've been milking the shit out of Torneko no Daibouken and they're starting to see diminishing returns.

I'm really surprised Pikmin 2 is still in the top ten!
Now I'm still waiting for the NA release...
where is the poster with the Pikmin 2 release date tatoo avatar?

No kidding. It doesn't take a genius to figure out games that have massive budgets and are in development for 5 years are gonna sell more than throw-away titles with tiny budgets and a milking of a franchise name.

If it sells then Japanese gamers are sheeple
If it doesn't sell then Japanese gamers hate Japanese games
