Who wouldn't want all of their streams to be like this?

Do you actually see the comments overlay while you're playing? That would be pretty crazy.

Yeah, I was in Tokyo last week. Glad I bought the game Friday because Saturday, it's snowed all the day (10cm) same problem one week before.
When it snows there, the number of people decreases a lot

That actually...looks quite positive for the Wii U. I wonder if it can get to a baseline of 15k post-Mario Kart. Obviously 15k isn't good, but it'd be a hell of an improvement. Hyrule Warriors is the big surprise.

It depends on how they play it (Coupling MK with a price drop/bundles for instance)
but it could definitely will sell some hardware. A permanent baseline boost? That's less likely as MK is being released in a void, there will be nothing to follow it up until Smash.

NicoNico will become a streaming choice on PS4 this spring.

It's real. That was attached to the press release.

OMG, yay! I don't know why I'm happy because I think having your screen cluttered that way is ghastly. But I know Japanese gamers are into NicoNico and hopefully they are happy with this inclusion. Good job Sony, on including things that gamers could possibly want in their new console.

It's also pretty telling which category of readers are more likely to read Famitsu. Playstation presence in the most wanted list is quite dominant.

Then that makes Mario Kart 8 even more amazing to reach second spot on that list. If only it can come sooner though.

you guys do recognize that a vaporware port of a five year old 360 game is on that chart

there's less information to be gained there than looking at amazon, tsutaya, and comgnet rankings

I wouldn't bet on it either way? Especially with likely bundles. I'll take an avatar bet if you want.

A magazine with hundreds of thousands of readers yet the most voted game only has five hundred votes. Very few people bother to vote.

There is a chance, MK is the much bigger Franchise. But it seems WiiU will kill ist to.

Only if they bundle it with every Wii U system once it has run its course as they have done with New Super Mario Bros. U

No it was only much bigger on the Wii and DS. MK7 is quite close to FF13 in sales. Not to mention its on the WiiU lol.

I mean FF15 will do around 2 million. WiiU's install base is only 1.6 million and MK8 comes out in May. Theres no way WiiU will be at 2 million by then let alone MK8 having a 100% attach rate.

Your probably going to say, but oh MK8 has legs.....in which case I shall reply with WiiU. WiiU is struggling to reach even GCN software numbers on several franchises. MK did 850k iirc on GCN and thats where I expect MK8 to do as a LTD. (Unless Nintendo pulls a NSMBU where they give it away for free with every new system).

edit: wait this is Japan only isn't it

even then, there's a big possibility of a FF decline, not that MK8 can actually make up the difference

Well, Persona 5 is going to release in the next 12 months, the hype machine is already working. There is P4 anime + P3 films to open the series to a new audience and we all know Persona has a cult following since forever (in both Japan and the West).

It'll probably sell a lot less than FFXV (my hope is it gets Tales of level of popularity, which is around 600k for mainline entries). About MK... it's obvious it would move systems, but anything could happen seing how toxic the WiiU is in Japan for Nintendo titles. I personally think it'll sell well, but it'll dissappear around July or so from the charts and won't return until Smash is released.

FFXV is a wild card. Main series sales has fallen quite deep, but spin-offs like Crisis Core or Type-0 has sold quite well (both are spin-offs and sold around 800k, right?). FFXIV hasn't sold that bad for a sub based MMO either. It'll be interesting to see how many people has left the franchise or how many people was waiting until Lightning story finished.

For the most anticipated FF title since 2006? I kinda doubt it. Unless the word of mouth will be awful this has so much hype behind it it'll do FF13 numbers.

Mario Kart 8 is the only Wii U game I think it has a legitimate chance to outsell its GameCube counterpart.

My reasoning (which could be wrong) is that the franchise was at an all-time low in popularity seeing that even Mario Kart Super Circuit failed to crack a million sales, and that in a healthy system. It is also true that Mario Kart: Double Dash!! also had the handicap of being released when GameCube was starting to die so it couldn't develop better legs.

Launch month + holidays (9 weeks) - 659.744
Sales during the rest of its life - 166.150 / 825.894

Okay but its not going to get anywhere near 2 million.

FF XII was more anticipated than FF X and sold less. FF XIII was more hyped and despite being multiplatform sold less too (and it'll be better not mentioning FF XIII-2 and Lightning Returns).

If PS4 doesn't explode in sales I don't see FF XV selling more than 1.5 million (IMO of course). And I don't see MK8 near that quantity if it's not bundled.

I dont expect MK8 to sell more either, but i have to say that Mario U wasnt just given for free. Thats a misconception some people have. The Mario/party bundle is 2k yen more expensive and the Wii fit is 4k yen more expensive. Since those are digital games, its very possible that Nintendo is gaining money from it (specially since its not like mario would sell much more).

Next month Nintendo is going to release another sku with a new remocon and Wii sports and that one will be given for free, since it will be 30k yen. In Mario case, its like anyy new copie of it is 1000 yen.

And about MK8. No way its going to sell more than FF15 unless final fantasy really underperform in the long run and MK have really nice legs. Not that i think its going to be a bad seller, but lets have some reasonable expectations. Just because 3D world outperformed Lightning returns does not make MK8 > FF15 a possibilty.

Famitsu's most wanted lists are about as relevant to sales threads as Gamefaqs Character of the Year polls.
