The update will include the legend himself, Beowulf, Beowulf's Story Mode, 2 Stages, Beowulf tutorial and updates and balance changes to the game and existing cast. Remember to go to the store and buy him for free within the 3 month window or else you're going to pay... money.

Beowulf is a famous retired wrestler who still yearns for battle. Along with his trusty weapon, a steel chair called "The Hurting", he's here to bring the pain to all who stand in his way. Along with throwing and hitting with his weapon of choice, he is armed with a bigger arm from Grendel, an opponent from his past. Amp up the crowd to build the hype and Beowulf can extend supers with additional slams, headbutts, and knee attacks for more damage and extended combos. Don't let the sweater and loafers fool you, he's going wild!

PSBlog has released news on the PS4/Vita version. Finally named, Skullgirls 2nd Encore will have crossplay between Playstation 3, Playstation 4 and Playstation Vita.

Why did we want to keep the subtitles similar? Because Skullgirls 2nd Encore will support cross-platform play across the entire PlayStation family: PS4, PS3, and PS Vita users will all be able to play against each other online!

Skullgirls 2nd Encore will be cross buy as well — we haven’t settled on the price yet, but you’ll get both the PS4 and PS Vita versions when you buy one. Note that current PS3 owners won’t get the new releases free — we’re putting a lot of work into these versions so we can’t just give them away, but we think the new features and improvements will be worth the upgrade!

We’ll have more information on the release date later, but hopefully this will get you more excited until then!

I suck at fight man games but I want to say that I really appreciate the tutorial mode in SkullGirls, its probably one of the few things in recent years that has actually helped me even begin to grasp the genre.

Wait, so this character is free? I have the Steam version with all the DLC (sans the palettes one) but never really played it. I think this update may finally push me to learn it (I heard it has an amazing tutorial for inexperienced fighters like me). Beowulf looks awesome.

-Added Real Soviet Announcer, played by Mike Z. This is the first of the Indiegogo-sponsored alternate voice packs! Change the voice pack in Voice Settings, from the Options menu.

It's funny, Lab Zero's showing more love for Wolverine than Marvel themselves right now with that color swap.

Can't wait to try out Beowulf when I get back to Houston. He looks like a blast to play & I commend the Lab Zero crew for their work on him.

Just finished quickly messing around with him in training mode. I really like that he seems to keep the momentum of a dash if you jump. It's surprisingly quick and covers a lot of ground. Gonna have to read up on what building "Hype" does for him.

So many references all over the place. And I'm sure I'm still missing out on a ton more. I loved the CM Punk pipebomb lol. Very appropriate move to build "Hype" over. His Captain America and Batman alts are especially awesome.

I always panic after downloading a new character on 360 and seeing all the DLC has disappeared before remembering to re-download the compatibility update.

Yeah, the issue was that only Valve can create and publish free packages, so I had to call to poke them to do that since everything else was set up.

Should be a quick fix on their end, and from there it'll probably take an hour or two to propagate through their servers.
