Big props to Hello Games for still believing in their game. After all the doom and gloom on the Internet around it (they stole our money!!) it´s refreshing to hear now the good news. Sure the launch wasn´t that marvelous and I was bummed too after paying 60 bucks but I appreciate their dedication and hard work even after the huge backlash. Everyone in the world deserves a second chance so why not game developers too? ;)

Yeah, such a weird way to organize the video. It took me a second to realize the text wasn't 1:1 with the narrator.

Obligatory:

I'm actually interested in this game again. Especially the Pro / 4K / HDR support. But Andromeda will ensure I don't get back into NMS for a very long time.

I liked the Foundation update and I'm really looking what I see of this Path Finder update. I was iffy on buying NMS even at a the discount when I did. However my hope was that in time the game would turn out better and it's looking like it is. Gamble payed off. So good on HelloGames for sticking with the game and updates. The update looks like it will be better then the last. So I'm looking forward to reinstalling and trying this out.

Personally because it felt like blatant dishonesty, not mistakes or anything like that.

That said if the game was "early access" I would have been impressed instead of bummed by what I bought and played.

I also don't buy unfinished games.

Glad Amazon gave me a refund with no fight.

It's great you got a refund. You can now buy the game with the Foundation and Path Finder update and thoroughly enjoy it.

Interesting. Still keeping an eye on this and hopefully it continues to evolve. May repurchase if/when it goes on sale at some point.

Well you can only do so much in a video. The full patch notes will list it all. Although an end slate with all the bullet points on it would have worked too.

Woah, the new look of buildings is great. Can't wait for the Update (after playing Horizon again and after playing through Zelda :p)

Maybe when the game has more in like 5 years.

Friend was similarly disappointing but made the mistake of buying it digital. I looked at the first update with him and it didn't really address any of the issues we had. Just super glued more mediocrity onto the side.

Each starship has a specialisation (Shuttle, Fighter, Hauler or Science) that improves performance in specific areas.
Shuttles are all-rounders, Fighters specialise in combat, Haulers have expanded cargo holds and Science vessels feature increased warp capabilities
In addition to new ship types, all ships will now be class-rated: A, B, C or the ultra rare S class.
When purchasing a new ship, you’ll now be given the option to trade in your current ship for a discount.

Yes!! Well that's one complaint off the list. I wonder how existing ships are treated though.

I have to admit that the stuff in that video looks pretty impressive. If this had been in the game at launch it probably would have been received much better. I'm not sure if I really feel the incentive to go back to it at this point, though...

So basically, you can go to someone's base and run their circuit and beat their time. And they will see the time.

That's freaking awesome.

Multi-tool specialisations and classes have been introduced. Choose between pistol, rifle, experimental and alien specialisations
  • Pistols offer increased mining capabilities, Rifles provide combat advantages and Experimental weapons are attuned to scanning. The rarest and most powerful are Alien Multi-tools
  • Similar to starships, weapons are also S, A, B or C class-rated
  • When purchasing a new Multi-tool, you can now trade in your current model for a discount

Oh wow...that's a crazy update. Being able to store multiple ships alone is a game changer for me. I'm obsessed with collecting D:

Anyone confirm the optimised 4K performance on PC? The only reason i'd play this again is if it doesnt run like dog shite and look like shite at the same time.

The graphical changes are the big ones for me. Now everything won't look reflective and terrible. Obviously we'll have to wait and see when it's released, but those changes, as well as the 4k optimization, sound absolutely amazing.

Might finally be time for me to grab this....this update and the last seem to have addressed a bunch of the nitpicks, and the PS4 Pro Mode and HDR is icing on the cake too!

Standing with factions is now important. It's a start, at least:
Your standing with the three NPC factions is now more important, as traders will only sell the best technology to their closest allies
Your standing with a faction can be improved by offering relics and curiosities to their representatives, or through conversation choices
Seek out Vy’keen traders for Multi-tool technology, Gek for ship upgrades and the Korvax for Exosuit improvement blueprints

Ship/ground Combat sounds like it might get a good boost in terms of versatility at least. That Blaze Javelin basically sounds like a sniper rifle:
Three new weapons can be installed into Multi-tools alongside the existing Boltcaster weapon. Each weapon provides a unique combat style:

The Scatter Blaster is most effective in close range encounters, able to damage multiple foes at once
The Pulse Spitter is ideal for mid-range skirmishes, particularly against fast moving opponents
The Blaze Javelin is a long range weapon, capable of eliminating enemies from afar

New ship weaponry offers advanced tactical opportunities:

The Cyclotron Ballista fires a concentrated ball of charged particles at forward targets, causing heavy damage
The Positron Ejector shoots in a wide cone of destruction
The Infra-Knife Accelerator releases a sustained burst of rapid fire
