Announcement one: we'll have Chantelise out by the end of the month or I'm a dead man.

PROJECT THREE ANNOUNCEMENT - CARPE FULGUR TO BRING FORTUNE SUMMONERS: SECRET OF THE ELEMENTAL STONE TO THE WEST

Last little announcement: Recettear has now, to date, sold more than 140,000 copies. And it's still selling.

This is Fortune Summoners:

I might be interested in Chantellise. I did enjoy Recettear. I hope there is a demo like there was for Recettear.

thank god for this Summer Sale I finally got Recettear, been wanting it since last year. Can't wait for Chantelise and their new game looks like a Metroidvania game, looks promising! We seriously need more companies localizing niche stuff like this.

Pretty sure SpaceDrake said they plan on doing demos for all their games because of how well that worked out for Recettear.

Chantelise will be mine, never really liked Recettear because of the shop keeping aspect but this I can dig. Fortune Summoners reminds me of a more puzzle oriented Faxanadu/Monster World what with the bouncing coins and all! Lookin' pretty slick!

Elise looks a lot like Racette...

EGS seemed to play it safe with their various character designs.

Was awaiting news about Chantelise, and this new game looks very very interesting.

Awesome~! Looking forward to Chantelise since Recettear was pretty damn fun and the new game looks interesting but I'd have to give the demo a run.

Good to hear that Recettear is still selling. I'm really looking forward to Fortune Summoners. A lot of console GAF often mention how the pc doesn't have Japanese games, but Carpe Fulgur is proving that a market for these games exist.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
Kinda funny I was hinting someone else to localize Fortune Summoners. Good thing it came true!

140k? Jesus. You struck gold, Spacedrake. Congrats on bringing the market to steam!

Fortune Summoners looks neat. Wonder what the last game Carpe Fulgur is working on of the 3 (possibly 4) planned. Hope it's turn based.

It would be nice if like, this became a little niche and we could get Falcom games on steam or something. They'd sure as shit do better on Steam than they would on PSP.

Awesome. I hope other devs like this in Japan see how good Cape Fulgur is doing and license them their games too.

Hopefully one day that will happen, Falcom is the tops of this bit of PC Gaming and it would be rather keen to have the original PC versions over in the west at long last.

What are these PC games?

well the second one is, so I guess the first is too.

So no Mac?

They'll probably end up on the DD sites like Recettear did. Not sure which ones Mac supports and to what extent.

Day 1 for Chantelise.

New game looks interesting too. Really hope Carpe Fulgur keeps this up. One of the best stories this generation.

Will buy these games when they're on sale.

Both look interesting. I love the 3D world with sprites look. And the side-scrolling ARPG goodness looks great.

Carpe Fulgur should look into localizing Falcom's games.

Chantelise is apparently older than Recettear and not nearly as good of a game (and already available localized by fans). I'm loving Recettear but will definitely wait for impressions and likely a sale for Chantelise.

Actually, I believe it had an official localization in Europe as well.

Actually, it was an official translation from a company in France. To be quite honest, the non-French options were very poor. That was one of the impetuses for us releasing the game - we wanted to do it justice in English.

As for the game's quality, I still think it's very good, it just isn't as robust as some other games are. It is, in some ways, obvious that it is one of EGS' earlier efforts.

Demos now, demos forever. We'll always have demos out for the games we self-publish.

Tell me that Fortune Summoners is a Metroidvania, please please please?

Mmmmm... sorta. If you count games like Zelda II and the original Ys III (Wanderers From Ys) as "early Metroidvanias", then it is; the game is basically a branch of that evolution of ARPGs, as opposed to the pure "find upgrades, no levels" approach to Metroid. There's a few areas where you gain abilities based on plot, but most are based on level or are inherent from the start. It's more about the innate abilities of your party members, and later on using them in concert to do stuff.

It's really, really good. I can't wait to get the demo out there.

Good news!

Loved Recettear, but Chantelise does look like a tougher sell to me.

Fortune Summoners seems much more promising.

Besides Territoire, I'm hoping for more turnbased goodness (strategy or rpg) to come over.

Territoire trailer for those not familiar with it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=van75zUvhgM

There's a Hardcore Gaming 101 article about Chantelise. Sounds pretty nice.

"As a professional in the world of game development, I've always marveled at what some doujin circles have been able to accomplish. EasyGameStation is a truly remarkable group, and Chantelise achieves a level of quality that puts most of my professional endeavors to shame."

It was made by 3 people? That's incredible!

You want a bigger mindfuck?

Aside from the character portraits and maybe the music (I'm unclear on this one), everything in Fortune Summoners is the work of one man. Lizsoft is really mostly a one-man band, and he's incredible at what he does.
