The Dark Knight glides in at No1 as Traveller’s Tales’ ‘Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes’ takes top spot in our All Formats Chart.

This time the series includes a wealth of DC greats such as Superman and Wonderwoman and goes one better than it’s predecessor, which debued at No2 back in Week 41 2008. ‘FIFA 12’ drops to No2 while Ubisoft’s ‘Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier’ drops to No3. In turn this sends Take 2’s ‘Max Payne 3’ to No4. ‘Battlefield 3’ holds the No5 spot helped by its new Premium release sending last week’s new entry ‘Lollipop Chainsaw’ to No6.
There’s re-entries for ‘The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’ jumping from No23 back up to No8 and also ‘FIFA Street’ from No13 to No10. Outside the Top 10 there’s a debut for ‘Civilisation V: Gods and Kings’ at No16.

Re-posting from last thread...

I tried to read the latest MCV digital edition, but the flash or whatever loads 50% and then stalls. Two different computers, two different operating systems, same result. Anyone else can get it to work?

http://free.yudu.com/item/details/547544/MCV-June-29th-2012

I'm not sure if you should be able to read it for free or not. You could read last week's for free...

Thanks.

UK's bad taste re-confirmed. Sniper Elite outselling Witcher 2 EE by a margin even on the 360 alone.

Sorry guys, work has meant I've been unable to post these threads for the last few weeks, and will be unable to for the foreseeable future. I'll try to post the weekly data from MCV when I can though. Thanks Pranay for posting the threads since I've been away.

Yudu is terrible, I strongly advice not to get a subscription from them, you cannot even connect to them most of the time, and a connection is required just to read your purchases. Sorry, but I cannot even connect to my subscription at the moment to get this week's data.

Ok, I've got datas from BKK. They're unformatted. Just one thing.

Lollipop Chainsaw: 4 - 21
Heroes of Ruin: 12 - 50
Gravity Rush: 9 - 84.

The rest later. I just wanted to post this because...it's tragic for Gravity. I'm sad, seriously :(

I hope all is well, BKK. Please stay in touch.

And, yes, Yudu is awful. When I read through the last two issues, it was an absolute pig on my computer. No way should magazine content be that heavy by today's standards. :(

For their sake, I hope the iPad app is more slick. Regrettably, I don't have an iPad so I won't ever know. :p

Yikes... the same thing happened to Resistance and GR in the UK. Summer is going to be pretty rough for the Vita.

Not enough people even have the system for these games to have any form of legs. It's not particularly surprising.

3DS is so dead software wise; it's basically in a PSP like situation: the hardware is selling good, but it's not moving software

Well both that FF music game and Kingdom Hearts will hopefully show some improvement for the 3DS in those charts, at least until New Mario Bros 2 arrives.

Portable Kingdom Hearts titles sell terribly bad in Europe.

This time they haven't even bothered to localize this new entry in some European countries (Italy and Spain).

The only place where I see concrete problems for 3DS software is UK. Otherwise, not so much. For many many weeks both Mario titles have been in top 10 in Germany. And just to say, Heroes of Ruin had a good debut in Germany, 12th ( compared to being 39th in UK ). In Italy, we still see Mario titles in top 10, in Holland too, Spain too... and in Germany, just to say, One Piece debuted in top 30. Yes, the overpriced half-assed ( in the sense of being literally half of the original package XD ) Unlimited Cruise SP. In Germany, it seems the 3DS version of Mario & Sonic is selling better than the Wii one, at least in the last weeks.

Strangely, while 3DS is seeing problems in selling software in UK, Vita is doing "relatively" well software wise in UK compared to other countries. Gravity Rush, in the top 40 individual SKU full price chart, would have been still in top 40 this week. In Germany, it lost more than SEVENTY positions. IIRC, Resistance saw something similar. Nothing great, but particular.

P.S. Being in a PSP like situation would mean not having games at all in Top 40-top 50 charts, however. XD

How many people even own the Vita in these countries though?

I mean, like, seriously how many?

In Uk it's something over 100k, this data is pretty old, however.
In Germany, I don't really know.

Percentages are back! Yay!

There is a super hero tussle at the top of the charts this week, however ‘Lego Batman 2’ (-17%) comfortably sees off newcomer ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ to hold on to No1. Activision’s film tie-in has to settle for No2 with 56% of sales on the Xbox 360 version, 42% on PS3 and remainder shared amongst Wii, 3DS and DS. There are a total of 3 new entries in the Top 5 with 2K Games/Take 2 entering at No3 with ‘Spec Ops: The Line’, followed by the debut of Sega’s ‘London 2012: The Official Video Game’ at No4. As a result ‘FIFA 12’ (-12%) takes a tumble, falling from No2 to No5. ‘Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier’ slips down the chart from No3 to No6 despite sales only down by 4% thanks to its launch this week on PC. The new Dawnguard DLC for Skyrim must have played a part in the successful former No1 climbing one place up to No7 (+121%). Take 2 and EA are the only publishers this week with more than one title in the Top 10 with ‘Max Payne 3’ (-20%) at No8 and ‘Battlefield 3’ (-17%) at No9. The launch of ‘Metal Gear Solid HD Collection’ (+532%) on PS Vita propels it back into the Top 10 at No10 and to the top of the Vita chart by a large margin. It’s one of the biggest Vita launches outside the console’s first week, only a small number behind ‘Unit 13’ and ‘Gravity Rush’. Another HD Collection is only one place behind as ‘The Ratchet & Clank Trilogy: Classics HD’ on PS3 is new at No11. Retailer promotions give both ‘Mass Effect 3’ (+101%) and ‘Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary’ (+101%) a boost, the former up from No36 to No15 and the latter back in the Top 40 at No21.

Not bad for MGS HD Vita. Not bad.

I don't understand the 532%. Usually it is the week-on-week difference, but since the game just released this week I don't get it...

This is the multi SKU chart. And they're considering MGS HD Vita as a SKU of the PS360 game. So, MGS HD saw a 500% increase due to Vita's SKU release.

Just collating last weeks new releases with chart positions... looks like a lot of bombs.

Project Zero 2
Spirit Camera
Harvest Moon DS / 3DS

I remember these ones. What are the others? ( these titles wouldn't have a great chance of appearaing in top 40 still. When the hell have we ever seen an HM title in UK Top 40, for example? XD )

XD

To summarize - 3DS has the same problem as Wii - people buy it , get bunch of Nintendo games and ignore 3rd parties.

The chart is here

http://www.chart-track.co.uk/index.jsp?c=p/software/uk/latest/index_test.jsp&ct=110032

Big drops for many Nintendo games, and some other ( such as Forza 4, Football Manager), probably mainly due to the big presence of new releases ( eight).
Surprise: Ratchet & Clank 11th!

MIA
Harvest Moon - 26th in DS specific chart / 7th in 3DS specific chart
Spirit Camera - 8th in 3DS specific chart
Project Zero 2 - 9th in Wii specific chart
The Amazing Spiderman - 20th in specific Wii chart / 34th in specific DS chart / absent from 3DS chart ( still just a top 10 )

3DS is so dead software wise; it's basically in a PSP like situation: the hardware is selling good, but it's not moving software

3DS hardware is possibly being "inflated" by the lack of new DS units for sale. ie Consumers looking specifically for a DS get a 3DS instead because they can't find a new DS unit.

If the software collapses further, I wonder if it's only a matter of time before the hardware numbers significantly go down also.

Many posters have mentioned the price of 3DS games being far too high as the chief reason for the poor performance of retail sales. It'll be interesting to see, what price the digital download version of full 3DS games will launch at (though Iwata's comments on the matter don't exactly give me much reason for optimism).

I suspect, also, one of the chief reasons why DS was selling so well in the later stages of it's life was the mass availability of R4 cards.

Do we have numbers for Unit 13 or Gravity Rush FW sales in UK?

For the specific UK situation, where 3DS is suffering software wise ( something I've not seen in other European countries, where also some third party titles did not so bad considering the circumstances ), yeah, price is a factor. And probably it's 5 pounds too high. I'm saying this due to what I saw happening to KH3D on Amazon: before the news about Nintendo distribuition, it was 25. And it was starting climbing the charts many weeks before release like pretty big releases. Then, the price went up due to Nintendo distributing and it went outside top 100. And probably, a good example ( and a good success) will be Theatrhythm FF: it's 23£ on Amazon.uk, after the demo it saw a great rise and now it's still in top 25 after being high in top 10...sold out.

No. Do you think a game like Heroes of Ruin would have been 12th in German chart on Wii, with the same marketing ( I mean, lack of)?
