For all intents and purposes, it's tantamount to the alternative in that scenario. It's better than the alternative, of...not getting to play the game AT ALL because it would not EXIST.
Publishers are dying to fund several year old Japanese character action games made at the tail end of a generation and dumped by the original publisher.
Take Two would cancel GTA V today if they knew they could get their hands on that sweet, sweet Bayonetta 2 money.
Stealing our games that would otherwise have been dead in the water with its first installment.
I don't get why every Bayonetta fan isn't jumping for joy. Bayonetta 2 will be on the most advanced HD console on the market. Oh and Bayonetta 2 actually exists on a platform with buttons.
Speaking of Devil's Third... wouldn't that be interesting if... na, that's still too far fetched, is it?I hear Activision is beating down Itagaki's door to replace Call of Duty next year with Devil's Third, in fact.
Can Nintendo revive Cing next?
Here a great fan of Bayonetta than only can see a second part as an awesome news. Nintendo exclusive? Well, Nintendo had helped in the development when nobody did. The took a risk.
Why nobody said nothing when Epic made Gears of War for Xbox 360? Or Mass Effect?
What I can't understand is the hate to Nintendo. It's like if a game comes out for one of their consoles it doesn't worth your attention. Is sad because probably you've missed a lot of great games for Wii and you'll miss a lot of great games for Wii U.
Really? That's it? I expected something more dramatic.

:<Nintendo traded Cing for Bayonetta 2. Kyle Hyde is being turned into a diaper wearing Hedghog.
Eh. If Nintendo is willing to fund it, someone else might have as well eventually. Sega once they restructured a bit, or Square-Enix for example. The first did sell over a million and got mostly good critical reception, so it's probably still a safer bet than coming up with your own new IP.

THIS.
FUCKING.
THREAD.
I can't cope. I actually CAN'T cope.
Nintendo really brought out the dark side of GAF....actually no. The dark side of EVERYONE.
Well yes, if a studio has cash for "eventually", why not. But in the real world, when you need money, and someone is willing to pay you money, do you say, "na, I'll wait, someone else will come along and give me money".Eh. It's ok, man. Nintendo will eventually buy Platinum, and then we'll have first row seats to watch the mass suicide.
It'll be great.
I can't wait for when Nintendo buys Platinum Games.

I think most of the people complaining about it either really weren't big Bayonetta fans or are being hyperbolic for the sake of stirring shit up. Every additional game Platinum gets to make is another jewel in any game collection.
Activision, you mean.Square didn't do that at all.
They had to completely rebrand it so it really was pretty much a brand new Ip. They even reported how much effort they had to do for the PC.
It's not like just any company could front it and then have the Bayonetta name.
Square as it stands isn't sharing anything with THQ and the game is completely removed from the True Crime IP.
Most people I know super pissed-off about this seemed oblivious that the game had been officially cancelled months ago and the chances of a Bayonetta 2 were next to nil. I think once that becomes more common knowledge the drama surrounding this will probably die down.
I can't wait for when Nintendo buys Platinum Games.
So you would rather it not to come out at all? Because thats what would of happened until Nintendo revived the project.

3DS? Now you've gone too far and I'd protest that.I almost want a 3DS-only Vanquish 2 to happen just to see the reactions.

I imagine it might be reasonable for Nintendo to help publish that if it wouldn't strain their relationship with Tecmo.
This is the first time ever in my life, that I am actually laughing out loud when I say "lol".
3DS? Now you've gone too far and I'd protest that.
It'll be nice when I can express my frustration about Bayonetta 2 without being put on a wall of shame, mocked or told how I should feel about it. Maybe in a week.
That why those wall of shame post are lame as hell. It'll be nice when I can express my frustration about Bayonetta 2 without being put on a wall of shame, mocked or told how I should feel about it. Maybe in a week.

Rarely does Nintendo buy Japanese (or any) companies. Long-term first party publishment agreements are much better.
Activision, you mean.
Square-Enix essentially bought the development without buying the IP with regard to True Crime/Sleeping Dogs.
That doesn't imply that an IP cannot be purchased. That being said, I doubt it would have been worth it for S-E, or other publishers.
Fuck it. I'm done. I'm going to bed.
