You do realize that 'leaving it up to the publishers' is exactly how it works now, right? They are not going to institute a system-level ban on DRM. That's insane, and it WOULD lose them support from third parties.

If they keep things the way they are now, everyone wins. We can punish the publishers who use shitty DRM by not buying their games, and the publishers who don't use DRM get rewarded with better sales!

How did you like it?

It's my favorite game of all time, still nearly 12 years later. One of the few games, for me, that stands up against the test of time. Hell, it's gotten better with age in a lot of aspects.

It's weird to see people who never had inside connections during my years here on GAF suddenly start acting like insiders.

Going into this year's E3, I'm really surprised at how quiet Sony is. And I'm not talking just about their stance on the whole DRM issue.

I mean, two years ago, we had leaks left and right.

Last year, Sony didn't have that many leaks, but pretty much blew their load leading up to E3.

Its just such an odd thing. We're usually swimming deep in Sony-related news at this point before E3. Now, its more like wading in a kiddie pool.

Hopefully it's just the calm before the storm and not the sign that they have nothing to show. Thankfully, it's sounding more and more like the former and less like the latter every day.

I'm guessing it's because new consoles are a much bigger stage for that type of thing. Instead of just a few rumored titles, you get hardware, features, launch titles, company deals, etc. I guess it lends to more creativity in the made-up stories.

I'm not calling out anyone in particular (I haven't been following the rumors of the user this regards in particular), just the general "insider" crowd.

i loved it, great port. i agree with you btw.

i beat it 8 times on ps2 back in the day. the game is stil awesome. probably the best mgs title to date

I agree. I'm surprised too. And I don't know if that's a good thing or bad. Does that mean they are running a tight ship or does that mean they won't have as much to show in terms of games. We'll find out in a few days.

This calm is passing by very very slowly though. Regardless, I hope there are no leaks at all. Just a little longer and we'll all have that giddy feeling again.

We've heard close to nothing out of Japan about their next gen plans. Companies like Capcom, Konami and Namco seem like locks for the Sony conference.

My prediction for amount of game reveals is 4-5 new games. 2 hour long but they have to put some focus on PS3, Vita, then they will probably talk about the design a bit when they unveil it. Show some of the OS and features with the PSeye and finally explain what the hell Playstation World is.

Few more games at Gamescom and TGS. Then boom it's November before we know it.

I was kind of hoping everything would leak ahead of time so I would know whether or not to be disappointed, but Kagari told me not to worry numerous times. I'm assuming that means good things will be announced, since I have particularly specific tastes and won't be interested if Sony just shows a bunch of Western third party games.

Yeah. Such a great game. I really need to get that HD Collection some time. I'm really itching to play MGS 2 again, especially in HD.

I downloaded it last time for the PS4 unveil event. I downloaded the E3 Booth a couple days ago. Was fairly painless and easy. I wanted the B2S theme, TLoU theme, and PS+ Trial. I'm hoping I don't have to put in CC info for that trial, but I'm guessing that's the hook.

Time flew by after the PS meeting. And that was 3 months ago The wait will be the hardest a week before the release date where time just goes by so slow. As you can see with e3

In the past two months or so I've watched the PS4 and X1 unveils twice now, including the live time I saw both of them. I've also watched the 360's E3 2005 debut. I watched the PS3's 2005 and 2006 conferences. And I watched a little of the Wii's conference debut (then Revolution).

I wanted to watch a few classic Playstation conferences, but all I could find so far was 1995 and 2003 (or 4? Can't remember.) Somebody said they brought it with their 1996 conference, so I want to watch that sometime before Monday, but I can't find it.

Apparently Destiny of Spirits is Demon Souls 2.

edit: It's funny how the name can be shortened to DeS as well. Also souls=spirits kinda thing to distance themselves from the souls franchise. It makes sense.
