Read hot house yea it has some haters but it is an enjoyable experience. Same with nisekoi.
If anything the volume raised a death flag for another character.

I really love these "smart" type stories. Basically the premise is that a famous master surgeon (Shinonome) died at a young age and ended up as a ghost. He then meets a high school student (Tatsuku) who could see him. Shenanigans occur and the lovely "science" happens. While Tatsuku goes to visit a friend, a truck runs into the building they're in. His friend's little brother gets a large shard of glass stuck in his thigh (which was dislodged shortly after) and starts bleeding to death. So Tatsuku performs surgery on a child's femoral artery with a razor, mineral water, mouthwash, and pliers under the guidance of Shinonome.
I'd say that it resembles Detective Conan in that it tries to feel smart. The two main characters feel kind of generic though. I do like their interactions though (except for the out-of-nowhere "Let's look at adult sites" nudging from Shinonome). Perhaps this might change as the story goes on.

Thanks for the recommendations! I've been meaning to pick JoJo back up and start reading some new manga now that Jump is on a break this week. Kinda scared to start HxH though, I probably wouldn't be able take the long hiatuses if I got addicted to it.

It's another masterpiece by Horihone Saizou. Be sure to also read the rest of his stuff.
Yeah I say what I say, but right now is a bad time to start the manga. It's a dang gosh fine time to get in on the anime, though.

Good color page and chapter cover for a pretty hilarious concept of a story. Prince gives Yamato underwear for his bday due to unexpressed feelings, while Yamato is afraid to remove them because of sister telling a story that he has a mole on his butt. What was most entertaining was seeing how he responded to Suoh the whole time and tried to somehow partake in recreational activities without removing them. Author is really creative and managed to surprise me making it take over 20+ pages to finally get them removed. Hope the other eight or so stories are just as entertaining.

Anyway, this is the first manhua that I've read, and it's interesting to see how similar it is to manga in terms of its very broad strokes (like paneling and the designs). It's also interesting to see what is essentially a Chinese slice of life story about learning to live your life (I would say :firehawk, but no one here would get it, and mono no aware doesn't seem quite appropriate for a Chinese comic lol).
That's not to say that Chinese people can't have similar middle class concerns that you see in Japanese and Korean comics. I suppose it exposes my own ignorance more than anything else.
Another interesting thing, and I assume this is probably an exception, is that every page was coloured. And it's quite a nice pseudo-painterly style, so at the very least the art is nice to look at.
Check it out if you want to be a cultural voyeur like me. lol
