Netflix |OT| Where Binge Watching is Encouraged

It looks like Netflix finally settled with Comcast. Streaming speed has been normalized and Netflix promises no price hike:

http://money.cnn.com/2014/03/11/technology/netflix-comcast/index.html?hpt=hp_t2

Yeah, Comcast user here. Quality improved dramatically for me a few days after news of their deal a few weeks back. I went from 480 or worse at normal PM hours to quickly buffering to HD at about any hour. A few exceptions here and there, but overall it's a solid experience now.

Hate the politics, but I'll take the result I guess.

I found the worst film on Netflix just the other day in the Kids section, it's called A Talking Cat?!? and is atrociously brilliant. It's a bit like a porn movie if they cut out all the fucking and added a cat. My mind could not comprehend the awful.

This sounds...amazing!

Fawlty Towers - I used to watch this show as a kid and I decided to watch it again. I didn't remember anything about it except it had John Cleese. It felt like I was watching it for the first time. It's still funny and Fawlty is kinda a crazy asshole. The thing I find weird about the show is the physical abuse he inflicts on the Waiter, Manuel. It's just weird sometimes. It's even weirder when he mimes hitting Polly and he sometimes does that to his wife too. Aside from those issues aside, its pretty funny and I like it.

That's quite alright, you see, he's a Spaniard!

The casual racism against Manual and the random acts of sexism are essential parts of the character of Basil - he's a condescending arrogant racist bastard obsessed with class.

Mind, it is almost 40 years old at this point too. But still absolutely brilliant.

Just whatever you do, don't mention the war. I did it once, but I think I got away with it.

I checked out Blue is the Warmest Color. The lead actress in that did a really good job, and not just the graphical nudity. There are times where she comes across with sort of a mystique, times where she comes across as kind of pathetic, and times where I thought she might be the sexiest woman alive.
Not during the sex parts either.

But, there also is the sex. Lots and lots of sex. It will detract from anything else for most, unfortunately.

Watch Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters based on recommendations here. That movie was so stupid, and in all the right ways. Just a ton of fun. I felt it would have worked a bit better by being a bit longer and seeing them hunt other witches before the main plot kicked off, but what was there was silly and fun. I want a sequel now.

Nice little surprise that movie was. Another case where the trailers doesn't do the movie justice.

I started watching The Returned. I'm digging it so far. Great acting and the cinematography is great. Can't praise it enough.

For those that have watched it, does the series lose its creepy factor? I got chills and was creeped out during the first episode. But not really in the second. Btw, crazy what Mr. Costa did.

Damnit why did I start watching this?! Just finished S1 and finding out that S2 hasn't even started yet! I really enjoyed it...
why didn't they take Serge?

How many episodes in are you? The creepy factor dipped in and out for me. I won't say much more since I don't know how much you've watched, but I got a bit frustrated at various points. Definitely looking forward to Season 2, but overall I don't think it remained as strong as the first episode.

I was wondering about that, too! He was still in the basement with his brother, right? I mean, they were so hot to trot to get Adele with her undead demon baby. Did they forget about him or something?

Can someone recommend me an atmospheric movie to the likes of The Talented Mr. Ripley. I know thats pretty vague but I want a movie that captures that feel.

I'm finished up episode 5. It definitely isn't as strong (in terms of creepiness/atmosphere). It is a great show nevertheless.

So yeah, um, what's this streamhelp.tv crap on my Netflix? Have they finally decided to crack down on users using the DNS trick on consoles to access different catalogs? Or is this some third party trying to somehow scam users? I'll be bummed out if this is a permanent thing, Netflix will lose whatever value it had left for me if this happens.

P.S. UK resident using US DNS fyi.

It looks like you used some sort of DNS address that belongs to this company and now they want your payment to continue using Netflix.

I ended up watching the first episode of the Star Wars The Clone Wars series even though I hated the movie. I'd put the first ep on about the same level as the movie (the robotic animation looked better than in the movie but the overall quality of the CGI wasn't quite as good), which is to say that it was...not good, but because it was only 30 minutes, it didn't leave such a negative impression on me. I don't know if I'm going to watch any more episodes though. The show would have to improve a lot in the later seasons to make it worth suffering through an entire season+ of shit to get to it.

Also watched the first season of A Young Doctor's Notebook. I really enjoyed it a lot. The humor is very British (read: dry), but there are quite a few laugh out loud moments in each episode. Daniel Radcliffe is quite good and John Hamm is, well, John Hamm. They've got pretty good chemistry together too.

Did you click the link you posted? It explains everything.

Moral of the story - DON'T BE A CHEAP BASTARD, YOU CHEAP BASTARD.

Man, I was just watching 'Infernal Affairs' via the PC. Accidentally closed the browser and now I can't find it again. It's not even flagged as recently watched.

What episode / season should I start clone wars? I want to just read a wiki for everything before it then jump in at a good spot. First episode was pretty bad

So... start at season 3 then?

Oh, I did not even noticed he wanted a wiki for some of the story stuff and then start at some point.

If you do it for the visuals, I guess. But if you want to enjoy the series it seems a bit weird to me to skip all those major episodes. I can get skipping filler though.

The last 2 EPs of Season 1, I read earlier.
Thanks!

There was this thing in the thread of the show:

Season 1 & 2
Season 3,4 & 5

I might do a mix of that. Thanks!
