Resident Evil 4
So does MGS2 most of the time i.e. as soon as there are any particle effects on the screen or more than two enemies.
Uh not really, unless you're talking about the Xbox version
WTF, are those like redone textures or what?
Nope, talking about the PS2 version.
It really wasn't. 640X480 original resolution.. And it was a good looking game at that size, but not great. PCSX2 has uncovered how nice it really is.FF XII HD shots are really godo too, but I think on PS2 wasn't that good.
Not sure how expensive these are, but backwards compatible PS3s do a great job of upscaling 480i titles. If you can find one of the older PS3s for cheap, it might be worth it if playing PS2 games is important to you.

I've also seen some posters saying it looks this gen. Nah.
The character models are. They animate better than the characters in many major RPGs.
2nd picture he posted is 'real life' (direct buffer screen).Way more jaggy in real life, but absolutely one of the best looking PS2 games.
Rain at the beginning is one of the most particle heavy scenes in any game, and it runs at 60.So does MGS2 most of the time i.e. as soon as there are any particle effects on the screen or more than two enemies.
I feel like the character models are of a really high caliber, so much so that they don't have a lot of flexibility in the way their face animates. Lots of dead eyes and slate faces. Its pretty common for characters to not seem to have any focus on each other while they interact. The character models are. They animate better than the characters in many major RPGs.
Then you're completely wrong. The PS2 version has a few minor dips on occasion but it doesn't run at 30 fps most of the time, like you claimed.
I don't recall many ps2 games that ran at 60 fps and looked good, any body know any?
Wow! have some people got a PCSX2 console?
Comprehending the OP works in mysterious ways.
Dragon Quest 8
Xenosaga III
Kingdom Hearts 2
Final Fantasy XII
I can probably think of more, but meh.
KH2 looks great in HD, probably because of it's more cartoon-based art style.
(only half kidding)
Now I want a HD port of FF XII. Get on it, SE. Do it once you've gotten FF X HD out the door.

This makes me so mad. I wish Criterion would make another FPS.
If they could make one that looked THAT good last gen I couldn't imagine in this one.
You haven't played Bodycount?
It sucks.
I want a HD remake of FFXII more than a new FF game.
so does black,it was a terrible game after the awesome opening level
60fps sandbox game

Since this is a 'best looking game' I have to respectfully disagree regarding Jak 3 - it may be a fun game / good game etc., but far from the best looking that the PS2 had to offer. Same with PoP.
you cant just use 60fps to hide behind that looks incredibly bland.
the game was stunning 8 years ago,it made the GTAs look like n64 games. your shots are from the hd version, blown up the models look like crap, but it was hidden really well on smaller TVs back then
