No one cared about Brute Force. There wasn't any HYPE around the game.

Gears of War is the game everybody mentions when talks about the Xbox 360. It has won some "Best of E3" awards as "Best Console Game", "Best Action Game" and also nominated for "Best of Show", "Best Original Game" and "Best Online Multiplayer Game". I'm sure that, not only will be the nº1 game in sales this holyday season for Xbox 360, but it has potential to surpas COD2 sales in just two months. I can't see too many people buyin a 360 and not buying this game this holyday.

that screenshot is like the least attractive one i've ever seen for this game.

You're making the opposite point that I presented. My gut reflex and instinct based on similar exposure to BF and GOW, is that GOW is going to ****ing own.

Yeah, one of my only complaints with the game is that I feel the fountains of blood(when you shoot Locust) may be a bit too much, like it's blocking too much of the view on your target and might feel like you're splashing in blood. They're a bit too high for my taste. Feels a bit like firecrackers going off.

The neck texture I actually really like, it's like you see it stretching because he's turning his head.

Any word on how well it ran at TGS? Has the framerate been locked down to a solid 30 yet? This game definitely needs a steady framerate...and while I'm still confident they'll do it, it'd be nice to hear once and for all that the game runs smoothly now.

The game looks amazing. The graphical jump from E3 2005 to TGS 2006 is enormous.

Here's my one and only concern with Gears of War. How are the other characters in your squad handled?

I'm wondering if they are so important to the story that some of them won't die (that core set of four), so you never really have to worry about them. That would take some of the tension out of having to cover for each other and play as a team. On the other hand, if they are critical to the story and can die, would the game force a restart from the last check point? That makes every mission an escort mission. Or, can they die and that impacts the story?

Has the way co-op has been implemented been talked about?

In what sense? You play, and possibly have a "Co-Op = Open/Freind's Only/Off" option somewhere, and you play. And then, if it's on or whatnot, you invite a friend, or a friend/someone just pops in. That's the gist of it, from what I understand. I don't believe there's a co-op "mode" that you have to start a game for or anything.

Mmmm... Co-op...
 
Cliffy, you and your team are artists in every sense of the word!

Damn the Japanese laws about blood and gore. This would have been MASSIVE for Microsoft to show to the public!

By the way, Cliffy or anyone who knows, will there by a gamma adjustment or brightness adjustment in the video options for the game? I find a lot of times it helps LCD TV's out to have a gamma adjustment.

The only thing I remember seeing that sounds familiar to that, was some concept art. 'Destroyed Beauty' as they called it. :)

EDIT: Yea, that's what I was talkin about.

Squad mates get shot and go down and bleed. You essentially lose another gun. In the instance of this game squadmates are also someone to distract the Locust so you can flank them. You can go over and help them back into the fight. Same thing with co-op. If someone is gibbed...well then, that's a fail condition. (pretty rare in SP)

(Didn't want you to have to babysit AI.)

BTW - drop in drop out co-op is the shit.
