Isn't it more proof that there are more 'Sony Flavoured Kool-Aid Drinker Baiters' than there are 'Sony Flavoured Kool-Aid Drinkers'?

That's what most of this topic has been about since the first reply. People just swinging at shadows seeing 'fanboys' in every corner.
There are many master baiters on GAF.

It's not about being hard or easy. It's about being forgettable... as in there wasn't much interesting or memorable going on in this game. It's also stating that it IS short and you really notice how little content is in the game on easy mode. They took the veil off and were left with less than if they were to just leave it on. You take away the difficulty and you are left with something forgettable and short...so that leaves a difficult game that relies on difficulty as the main attraction.

I'm not entirely sure I understand the argument that it's ok this game is very short because the other mega man's were. Alright, and?

I'm not a MM10 fan, let alone apologist, so I wasn't trying to argue what the game is or isn't. I was just trying to point out that the review seems to say what you have have reiterated here and that as a statement it can be read both ways. It can be fun as a difficult game but completely forgettable as an easy one. So it's a forgettable game that's only fun when it's hard, or a fun game that's only forgettable when it's easy. Not my opinion, just trying to clarify how I thought the review quote read.

Bullets @ Edge :lol ...Edge is a fun magazine because they listen to their whims.

Damn those reviewers for reviewing games.

Really surprised at DOA's 6. Must have done something right:lol

I'm pleasantly surprised by the relatively good score for Dead to Rights because I'm a big fan of the first game (not so much of those that came after) and plan to get this if it isn't a total failure.

Can't wait to read the Dead or Alive review and find out how they arrived at that score.

Mega Man 10 - 6/10;

There is enjoyment to be had for those who like their games to test the mettle as well as provide escapism. Few other games, even at their most challenging, offer quite such a high as defeating one of the game's bosses. For less able players, Capcom has inserted a new easy mode. The result is a ar less stressfull experience, but a muted one, too. Without the brutal challenge it's a game that will take mere hours to finish and even fewer to forget.

I really hope they didn't dock points from the game because Capcom gave players an option for easy mode, since that would be really stupid on their part. It's their own bloody fault if they play on easy and complain the game becomes too short because it's easy. Maybe they would have preferred it if Capcom didn't include the option at all.

Does anyone know what MM9 got?

We went over this, there are no harshly reviewed Sony games to get the fanboys in so the baiters are all alone in here looking like they are a dime a dozen!

Monter Hunter Tri - 7/10
Duality is at the heart of Tri - it is both tourism and dungeon crawl, reconnaissance and gung-ho attacks, hunter and gatherer, new and old. Full of solitary exploration, it's at it's best when played in groups. And so, burdened with Nintendo's expectations, it manages to be that rarest of things: a Wii game you've just got to try online.
Hmm....

I agree with the score for MM10, though perhaps not for the reason pointed out in that snippit. I found the game to be bland and forgettable (and annoying in some spots), unlike MM9, which I thought was amazing from start to finish.

I haven't noticed a summary of DOAP.
Here it is -
The time since Team Ninja's first trip to Zack Island has seen the continual rise of the minigame, across all platforms and at budget price-points which render the offering here - beautifully ported rendition of a Japanese favourite, where the stars of the show have been beautifully re-produced for the small screen. The physics of the upper region remains questionable, but still allows the player to fulfil his desire. This in addition to - a diluted casino without tutorials, a basic pool-hopping section - miserly in the face of the competition. Though the climate on Zack Island may still be tropical, and the ambience still chilled, DOA Paradise may find itself giving players stimulation everywhere else rather than the brain.

Fair enough, it just seemed like you and the person you were responding to were concentrating on the difficulty in the review when at least to what I read into that paragraph, the review seemed to take a step back from the difficulty and look at the big picture. I didn't mean to try to spin anyone.

On a different note, i typically respect and enjoy Edge reviews, but the DOA score is baffling. I'd like to read a summary on that, but...yeah, that's a bad apple most likely.

I think that the RoF review is unfair. The criticism isn't really true--the review is implying that the only real course of action in battles is to spam hero actions and scratch damage. I disagree. Not a huge deal. RoF got a really rough shake in the Western press, and I don't even like it as much as the big fans do.

But it's true. PS3 owners are very sensitive even childish, on the other hand 360 owners are rational and mature, never engaging in fanboy wars.

Well, in this generation, it can be clearly seen that the most rabid fanboys are the Sony fanboys, this is especially the case if a "omg it looks better than reality itself" game gets "downgraded", or simply rated slightly below 9 or the obvious 10.

You should check out fanboy ravage on KZ2's 7/10, EG's MGS4 review, EDGE MGS, some backlash of someone giving a 4/5 (8/10 was it?) to Uncharted 2 and recieving huge amounts of hate - when your favored system is the third, suddenly every exclusive starts to matter SO MUCH - therefore the cited reactions .

It took me a while to parse that quote from the review, but I think you've missed what they're saying. Basically, 'On normal it's hard but rewarding. On easy it's short and forgettable.' As a final paragraph it's a weird way to round out the review, but I assume the overarching point the reviewer is trying to make is that the game is either very hard or very easy. They're not saying that the game is too short, it just reads that way at first.
no. my point still stands. you misunderstood ME. the reviewer says that on easy the game "will take mere hours to finish" and that this results in a forgettable experience. and i'm saying: the game takes "mere hours" or usually even less than that ANYWAY (on the regular difficulty level) for experienced mega man players. and that has been the case for any mega man. and it has never resulted in a forgettable experience, at least not more or less so than it does now. and since this applies to all mega man games i can only conclude one of two things: a) the reviewer realizes this and thinks all mega man games are forgettable or b) the reviewer doesn't realize this, hasn't played any other mega man games or somehow remembers them wrong. i'm inclined to say it's probably b) though, as it apparently takes the reviewer several hours to finish the game even on easy, which is a clear indicator that he is not used to playing mega man games. either way it's clear to me that this isn't the person i PERSONALLY would trust with reviewing a mega man game, since he either doesn't like mega man in the first place or singles out mm10 for something mega man games have always been "guilty" of and that is not what i would call valid criticism. i agree with the score though (even though i generally dislike scores) or at least i agree that this is definitely not mega man at its best, if for entirely different reasons.

Not necessary the case. I think most people depend games that they think are good. It's like when a guy sees Bar Refaeli and says she is a 7, at the meantime I'm thinking he must be gay or something.

Although after 18 hours playing Resonance of Fate and liking it quite a bit, I understand and agree with their comments. The fighting system is unique and fairly fun but it seems like every fight is the same strategy and I don't even see how else one would play the game. It is fun but very limiting.

Do you think you could enjoy SSF4 if you don't have any friends who are into fighting games? If I am basically, just buying it to play single player and online?

I haven't played a fighter for a very, very long time, btw.

Hell yes. I only play it online cause my friends are not into fighting games as well. This time, there is a lobby system (about time). Buy it and we'll have our own GAF lobbies and shit. You can play with us. :D

Also, you don't have to be great/godlike to enjoy Street Fighter. I'm semi-decent and I still have a blast every time I boot it up.

I bought SF4 for the single player only, even though I have friends who play it online and one who participates in national tournaments. The game is great playing solo. Lots of characters to play, lots of challenges. It's worth the money even if you never play against another human being.

Next month looks suspiciously like Little Big Planet decal artwork... featuring a very spacey sci-fi vibe

They were the first magazine to get a huge story on the original LBP. Still, it'd be strange for Sony to unveil it this close to E3.

Are people still pretending that Edge uses the whole scale? They used to, but they haven't for quite a while now. They also give out 9's and 10's all the time theses days. Edge isn't any better than any other videogame magazine or website out there.

Next month pages aren't always reveals. It could just be a feature on how user generated content in games has evolved since it started. Plus the art isn't terribly distinctive, lots of other designy-make shift things used it before LBP.

By that I mean like this:

Or I would if I knew what they're trying to say. . what are the reviewers negative issues?

Good scores for Monster Hunter Tri and Red Steel 2. Looks like I'll be busy this summer with Wii gaming.

I'm really digging Red Steel 2 right now (quite deserving of that Edge 7) and am looking forward to MHT.

That's great for Conviction. Too many great games, not enough time...
