If he just HAD to talk about the Wii then he could have at least found less-insulting words, like "Why the Wii isn't fit for next-gen experience". Instead, he basically got up in front of people to insult all of Nintendo's 4+ years of research and development and all of the people who did have a passion for gaming to try something new.
He got up, he called all of their work a piece of ****, said it sucked *** and said the developers don't have a real passion for the gaming industry. That's not a rant, that's a hate speech for all intents and purposes.

Despite it being a 'rant' session, anyone that publically trashes one of their employers partners is stupid to begin with. Second, there is a difference between a constructively written/spoken idea about Company X or System Y and basically badmouthing it.
If anything, his sudden flip-flop apology is coming from his employer to try and put out the fire on this burning bridge. Despite most of the 'ninthings' reactions in the other thread, there is no clear correlation between that thread's comments and his apology. How anyone can automatically judge that it was is beyond me.

If he gave a well-reasoned, nuanced criticism of the weaknesses of Wii hardware that would go against the entire spirit of the session, lol. The developers there likely understood that.
And as far as the "people spent 4+ years designing the Wii hardware and now they're work is being insulted" thing. Well, if those people spent 4+ years designing the Wii hardware in order to compete with the same power other systems have...then yes, they did in fact design a piece of shit, lol. Of course, we understand that Nintendo isn't focusing on hardware power, they wanted a small and quiet system, and they wanted to make a profit. So from that standpoint, those designers accomplished their job.
But if he's a developer who directly works with hardware, "small and quiet", and "makes Nintendo a profit" aren't top priorities for him. Processing power is. That's all he was saying when he called Wii "a piece of shit".

just for the record, I'm keeping this separate from the "art" comments. I tend to see more people reacting to the piece of shit phrase, when that should probably be the least controversial of the statements he made, lol.
