Chinese people are not taking kindly to a westerner telling them not to sell the 3DS to pirate companies.

Really? :lol

Though, it's going to be pirated eventually..

If Google, and my knowledge of the English language is correct, it seems some may be reading this thread. If so, hi!

More offended by the long term poster Westerner implying chinese cant be well off.I suspect and it seems to be the case this guy got access to a unit by a factory worker more than he is one

Yeah, that comment didn't seem to go so well. One of them posted that they were sick of foreigners. :lol

Edit: ^Really? Damn.

There will be no taking apart of the unit. They are making that clear. Hello to those reading our crazy thread

Too bad the device they're ogling is based on a foreign design.

Too bad. That's pretty much the only worthwhile thing one can do with the system at this point, unless they believe they can find a way to acquire a 3DS game as well. But it's not like it would break or anything, anyway - they simply have to be careful.

well, at least this is better than that time the people from stormfront were reading the GAf thread talking about a thread on their forums!

That isn't the only time NeoGAF got into other people's affairs. Like when NeoGAF invaded some poor kid's Digimon role playing forum.

Now that I think about it, I only heard about the CE trick once on tv; now I have no idea what it should mean anymore. I simply trust the MADE IN tag.

I think that the China Export thing is just an urban myth, the CE mark basically states that the product passes relevant safety guidelines and so can be exported to and freely traded around the EU.

I think person who has it in possession does not have "ownership" of the device but is being allowed to handle it by someone so tearing it down to see parts is not acceptable. There is mention of some agreement he has

It's simply the amount of RAM those devices have.

I really don't see how people think it's ugly. It looks practically the same as the dsi design. And I'm fine with that design.

It looks like the ds lite you folks already have!
But dipped in gloss. :D

Interesting to see that the 3DS has more memory than the Wii. I'm guessing, like several others, that it's actually a 128MB chip(makes sense from a cost perspective, instad of 64+32) with 96MB available for the user/developer.I think we'll get some nice results from this.

Nintendo has a habit of making their first versions of a new handheld to look like their previous handhelds.

The first DS used a lot of design stuff from the GBA SP, and the first GBA used a lot of design stuff from the Game Boy Color. Their buttons, D-Pad, design style, screen, were hand-me-downs. It's usually not until the first revision that it gets a style of it's own (DS Lite, GBA SP).

If they actually used a 128 MB chip then at least it's a slightly more sane hardware configuration.

Anyway, glossy areas on parts of devices that you are supposed to touch are one of the most idiotic design trends ever. And it really is ugly -- I hope no must-have game comes out before the revision.

Well there is OoT and MGS3 that will be either launch or VERY soon after launch titles.

I would not mind seeing some jail time or a fine for the dude in the video, sure I'm jealous but stolen goods is stolen goods no matter how much of a fanboy I am

So all those people who bitched about the ram, all for nothing :D

No where the hell did ign get there specs from ?

Clearly this is a developer from Gameloft Shanghai tired of working on Asphalt 3DS, who wanted some fun and fame.

Nemo

Will Eat Your Children
That thing looks ass ugly

Common sense would dictate I wait for a revision, the other part in me wants to play Paper Mario tho :(

From their exhaust port?

Since Matt was the only one I knew off who actually had real inside information, and he's gone, I don't trust IGN anymore regarding their leaks. I can't see their credibility.

The Dpad doesnt look that bad, even the positioning isnt too uncomfortable... judging by pretending my DS has the dpad there >.<
Yeah, I've been thinking the same since we started seeing real pictures of the thing.

Ehh. I'm not one to have paid such close attention to specific button designs and whatnot, but the whole vertical layout thing makes me look at GBASP as a lot more like older GB/GBC than GBA is.

haha the chinese have invaded the japanese board!
http://toki.2ch.net/test/read.cgi/gamenews/1294057329/l50

oh and finally got the first post translated, but doesn't clear up where it came from, stolen or not?

finally.i got it, wait until my balls hurt for a long fucking time.even though its a engineering machine, without a system and not back cover, i can only touch it over and over again, but for the new mainframe.i bear it.i dont dare to share it by myself,i should show it to everybody.for tucao(this is something japanese 突っ込み)..let the storm come storng and strong. the first picture for itself and then with the nintendo mascot。

I'm sure that it's a 128MB chip. It would actually probably be more expensive and power consuming to have 1 64MB chip and 1 32MB chip (unless 1 chip is faster than the other like the Wii & GCN)

96MB is fantastic! Having 64MB available to devs was already great (better than GCN) but 96MB is fabulous (better than Wii and it'll be put to even better use than the Wii since the 3DS runs at a lower res - yes even in 3D mode)

Having 32MB separate for the OS sounds about right as well, especially if it can run the browser while multitasking a game!

I'm not a fan of the gloss though. I wish it was matt like the DSi.

we don't know if it is stolen.

tell that the the one dude waiting in line at launch soon he is next in line for his 3DS and they are sold out now because one is missing! :p

nah seriously I don't like this I want leaks (photos and such) but damn taking a whole unit out of the production line to feed my hype, that is a bit much

I just want him to open it. He already removed the bottom plate, so I don't see why he can't move further in, seeing the device without an OS is pretty useless.

Unless he thinks about smugling it back into the factory. Hmmmm.

I faintly recall a huge Chinese forum going crazy over pictures of an unusually well-endowed Japanese tween, so... no, that wouldn't be shocking.

They may try to start it again-

Wait look at the bottom screen it says press start to go to CtrMenu!!! OMG OMG OMG HE HAS TO PRESS START. The Dev name for the 3DS is CTR so CTR Menu is either the 3DS Menu or the Dev Menu. Either way i very want to see it!

我说楼主你按一下Start键试试看-try the push the start button!

老外眼睛真尖-Foreigners eyes are so sharp

32MB reserved for the os is pretty substantial, although it does have to run a web browser with that so its understandable. Still crazy to think a Nintendo handheld has as much RAM reserved for its os as Microsoft's home console.
