The Wii has a grand total of... ZERO viruses available to this date. Provided you use WPA you, and your technophobe father, have basically no need to worry at all.

To answer your question incase your dad insists it be disconnected for some illogical reason. You can delete your connection details from the Wii Setup menu after doing what you want to do. Kinda tedious tho.

Rondo is kicking my ass goddamn:lol

I'm really digging this game. Is Rebirth a lot like this one? If so, I might cave in.

Yeah that's like the height of net paranoia, you're probably watching too much sensationalist news. I'd say even for a PC that's kinda silly.

But if you must, turn off WiiConnect24 and that will do the trick. Your Wii will not connect to the internet unless you are in an application that is using it.

anyone think Cave Story will show up at the $10 price point? i kind of doubt it, but it would be an insta-buy at that price. 15 and i'm having second thoughts

ok, art of balance is officially amazing.

if somebody had told me a few days ago i'd be dazzled by the difficulty progression of an effin balance game i'd have laughed long and hard.

now i'm not laughing. at all. 'cause i'm gaping. just when you think 'ok, that should be the top of their difficulty curve, what else could they bring in to make my life more difficult?' they actually bring in something new that makes the previous level look like a warm-up.

I'll probably download Photo Dojo just to get rid of the 200 points that Mighty Flip Champs left me with.

Nothing else in that price bracket looks particularly worthwhile. Especially not Flashlight.
Have you got Escapee Go! yet? That's 200 points iirc.

I thought I was going to like that one, but didn't, in the end. Felt like I was just plain moving too slowly.

Since nobody bought it up. Muscle March is 500...guess Namco saw all the negative comments and realised their mistake...I know the saying about no news is bad news but why did they think the price hike was a good idea to start with?

I thought they ended up axing the DLC and including it all in the base package, I might be mistaken, though.

ok...I gotta ask the question..because I think I have dillusions..

when DSi ware was announced...wasn't there an expectation of being able to have those GBA/GB games among Game Gear NGP games to download...

there is zero VC support for DSi Ware and this is severly preventing me from getting on board the portable ware train....

correct me if I'm wrong, really...

Such "expectations" always were merely speculation, expressions of desire from fans, etc... never confirmed and unless I missed something, never even really hinted-at. The most substantial official tidbit is the restriction disallowing emulated games on DSiWare.

Rondo is pretty fun, although I wish Richter had a run button. No, I checked, the actual Run button pauses the game. When there's a werewolf pinballing all over the place, the correct movement speed is not "casual stroll". Unless you're Richter, apparently. He's too cool to run. Guess I'd better go find Maria if I want a character who can move fast.

I'd definitely buy it, but it's not nearly as difficult, in my opinion, as Rondo. ReBirth is a nice balance for me, personally. Plus, it has the benefit of being really polished. It has that old style without many of the artifacts present in older games.

You don't play classic castlevania games often do you.

I guess this would be the place to ask this...I've been playing through some SNES games I never got a chance to play, among them the Donkey Kong Country games. I've been playing and loving 2, which I got as the general consensus was that it was the best in the series. That being said, are the other two worth playing as well, or is there a noticeable dip in quality?

I think the first is a definite must play. The third is kind of iffy at times but its not outrageously terrible, just average.

I found that the stopwatch alleviated that problem pretty well at the werewolf.

Personally the first is my favorite, but I admittedly have a ton of nostalgia for it. I've barely even played the third.

Personally I might have even liked 1 more than 2... and if rose tinted glasses are factoring in my memories, it would be a close call for anybody anyway.
Always disliked 3 tho.

So, which one first:

Rebirth or Rondo?
I just want to play the best one first, since the other one would have to wait at least a couple of months since too many great Wiiware/VC games to get. In the end I'll play both, but I don't care to play it in the original order. Gfx, gameplay, longevity and music/sfx, how you'd rate both? Suggestion are welcome only if you don't go by what you remember of Rondo... from the last time you've played it, 10 years ago :lol

Did anybody have the chance to play IronClad (Pal Virtual Console) in the end?
I'm considering going against my no 60Hz (or at least pal optimized) no buy rule. Fuck me, I know.
But how bad it is? What I mean is that I know it's 50Hz and with borders but some games are much worse than others. PAL Megadrive VC games are unplayable to me, is that bad?
Is the music fucked up as well and is the game really slow and squashed? I love the game so much and it's not like I can buy it from VC and then play the emulated version since it doesn't work on NeoGeoGX Wii.
What to do? I don't wanna end up with a 1000 points coaster, already happened with SamShodown 2 and Gunstar Heroes :/

I actually was quite disappointed in the first when I bought it on VC. Then I played the second and liked it a lot more. Take that as you will. I'm not a massive fan of the series or anything and mainly just like the second game.

I highly doubt they would charge more than Mega Man 10. DLC is another story, though.

I am just posting to say that I downloaded Rondo of Blood and I rank it as among the best games for the Virtual Console. The PC-Engine was limited compared to the Super Nintendo and Genesis, however, the developers definitiely did a lot of nifty touches to make it compete graphically. It especially shows considering how sprites from Rondo of Blood even ended up being reused in the DS games that came out over a decade later.

Also, Rondo of Blood has superlative gameplay that is really built around "dumb-luck exploration", especially to gain access to some of the alternate stages (like falling down a random pit). Still, I really like the amounts of secrets placed in an action-based Castlevania.

Also, on a side note, my account was registered nearly four years ago, and it just recently got activated. :lol

This was probably already mentioned in the Cave Story official thread...but I can't see the harm of re-iterating here.
Well Cave Story is Two-thou 1200 points.

Along with the higher-definition graphics and music, Cave Story for Wii includes five new play modes. Previously announced as Add-On/Download Content, Nicalis, Inc. has integrated these modes as part of the full game, so there's need for additional downloads or purchases.

I am so very grateful for these threads. I don't think I'd pause to even check what's new on the Wii's VC without them. :lol

Can't believe the original Rondo of Blood is actually available on it. Great stuff.

Photo Dojo will probably be good but you should strongly consider Aura-Aura Climber. Seriously.

I had a quick look through the 200-point section last night and didn't see it.

Did it have an explicable name-change for Europe, or is it still not out?

It isn't out yet. A-AC is NA only for the time being.

I have to say that I'm not impressed with the fact that the two Game & Watch Collection offerings were so sparse and that they're now monetizing the games they didn't include in those collections.

... and I'm sure the flood of posts about Cave Story will outweigh any discussion on that particular subject :p
