Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen PS4/XB1 |OT| They're master ports all, you can't go wrong

Well this game just put me in an horrifically foul mood.

I had just found a really cool looking cape with good stats in some random ruins way out in the middle of nowhere while I was exploring (A fort taken over by all women bandits). A bit after I left the fort however, my fucking xbox decided it was just going to randomly sign me out (This has never happened before) and the game kicked me back to the main menu without saving. I load it back up to find myself back outside the fort, without the cape and now it won't spawn again.

What really REALLY fucking pisses me off is there is a switch to open the main gate at the fort that I hit the first time through after getting the cape, which NOW decides it wants to save my game after hitting it, although it didn't before. I guarantee you that I won't find this cape again until it's utterly useless, as I'm always getting fucked over when it comes to stuff like this.

To the developers, whoever thought forcing you out to the menu when you're signed out without making the game save was a good idea, fuck you. I'm convinced the game and my Xbox are in collusion out to screw me.
That sucks. Weird that the Xbox does this. It didn't back on PS3 anyway, though if you got disconnected from PSN (not the Atlus servers, which failed silently) while playing Demon's Souls, you'd get kicked out to the title screen too. Happened rarely but it just so happened the first time I played it and during a boss fight, so I almost rage quit Demon's Souls right there. lol

I understand your frustration, but if it's any consolation, that cape will soon be outclassed by way, way better gear and it's probably not unique to this chest. Don't worry about it too much.

Man, I'm having such a hard time with the quest in the quarry west of Gran Soren...

Those damn ogres take 10 minutes to die, and just one of their hits is enough to bring me down. I managed to kill one, but the game wouldn't let me save for some reason. So I kept going and died to the second one. Ugh.

Damn this hard mode.

i always die there a few times. poison them, set them on fire. throw flasks and bombs at them and back off. you can also split them by exit/reentering the quarry.

I got a vague question and looking for a vague answer.

I'm a the point in the main storyline where a quest giver who cave me a few story related quests is for the first time saying that I should finish any other tasks I have before I accept his new quest.

My question is: I don't really have any quests atm, but there are some areas on the map I haven't been in yet. Should I go explore or should I just accept the quest. Level 30 atm.

Also a pawn update:

PSN: StaffyManasse
Pawn:
Nefer, a lvl 30 ranger with challenger

so i got a set of voldoan armor, but i looked it up because it looked ay too good, apparently i only get it if i have a previous save file or something? either way is it better for me not to wear what seems to be OP armor?

im lv10

If you don't want to miss anything, make sure you clean up the following Side quests first: Dying of Curiosity, Chasing Shadows, a Troublesome Tome, Reapers Scorn, and any escort quests available to you. Also complete all the quests of the Hunt if you have not done so.

Never even seen any of those lol. Should I be worried?

Edit. oh wait, maybe I did the tome one, not sure

Dying of Curiosity is from Merin in Cassardis, usually at the alehouse by day. For Chasing Shadow talk to Mason in Gran Soren, usually at the fountain by day. Reaper's Scorn talk to the dude crying in the house in front of the Pawns Guild.

I know, that cape just looked really cool with my other stuff I had equipped. Still haven't found the damn thing yet again, just like I expected to happen.

Hopefully I will find a much better cape that looks good too like you said though.

Anyways, here's her new look, after exploring BBI for a bit:

BiWESa.png
Looks like she got dressed in the dark :(

She had the ancient Priestess/Mystic vibe going earlier. Although for BBI grinding it can be best to min/max anyway, even if it looks like they got their ensemble at a thrift shop.

need BBI armor so more people rent my pawns for RCs

need RCs to purify the items to get BBI armor
Best ways to get your pawn hired (just my personal opinion):
  1. Have the right inclinations set on your pawn;
  2. Send a friend request to everyone on your platform in post #2, telling them who you are on GAF and mentioning DD;
  3. Give your pawn a cool/unique look.

What's the best place to put Portcrystal ? I have 2 currently.

I just learned yesterday about the unlimited ferrystone....
My first one always goes at the Great Wall Encampment, because there's a great vendor there and it's a royal pain to walk to. After that there are some options I usually consider: Bluemoon Tower (ish); Shadowfort/Devilfire Grove; Bloodwater Beach; a healing spring; somewhere up North on the way to Bluemoon Tower.

Okay, looks like I just miss one then. Didn't recognise the names. Thanks!

Also I think I may have gotten Mercedes killed during her escort quest. Oh well.

Hahaha XD

I do notice a decrease in rent once I changed her costume from before to now, lol.

Ah well, hopefully I can get better looking getup for her soon.

I got a really strong sword and when I tried equipping it, it gave a warning message abour my low level? Thing is I didn't get to read the entire message and it won't warn me again if I un equip and re equip the blade.

Any ideas ?

Equipment has a (hidden) 'expected level', which means if you equip it while under that level you will use a lot of stamina even for normal attacks.

For example the Dragon weapons
(you get for slaying a certain Dragon)
have this 'stamina drain' until level 42, Bitterblack (Lv3) weapons are believed to be level 51.

Goddamnit, wanted to dragonforge my pawn mage stuff so I put my Magick Archer (I didn't use it much but I have it leveled with the post game trick) with it's level 3 BBI magicbow and go to the Dark Bishop... and proceed to do 0 damage to him even with magic periapts lol

The dream of dragonforging my pawn stuff is ded.

The dark bishop can be cheesed easily with throw blasts regardless of class.

Which cape was it? Do you remember the name? I'm sure it's possible to buy it somewhere.

That's a shame, she actually looks badass now.

I just learned yesterday about the unlimited ferrystone....

1. Hillfigure knoll, entrance to cave.
2. Shadowfort entrance
3. The exit of Witchwood near hometown, put it up on ledge for easy access to Witchwood.
4. Bloodwater Beach (south west of map.)
5. Greatwall encampment
6. Catacombs main entrance
7. Quarry east entrance.
8. Bluemoon tower entrance
9. Healing spring at very north of map.
10. Windbluff tower (This is near to hillfigure so it can be moved if want).

If you only got two judging by how far I guess you've progressed I'd go numbers 3 and 2.

Anyone know my pawn has no inclination yet? I was trying to make her Utilitarian and Medicant since she's a mage but nothing yet. I even used the knowledge chair and nothing. My pawn and I are level 23 so I'm a bit confused as she should have an inclination by now. Any ideas?

In the first encapment the guy next to the pawn stone sells potion to apply inclinations, just drink 2 of the one you want for the primary inclination and 1 for the secondary.

I waited till around lvl 30 to do that quest on hard and left it to mostly my pawns to avoid the one shots

I need rift crystals which I don't have partly because of no one using my pawn b/c she doesn't have any inclination :(

You can also use the chair to set inclinations, not as good as the potions though. Send me a message on PSN (Akuma_818) and I will hire your pawn for a bit.

If anyone can Dragon Forge female equipment for me, that would help improve my pawn (particularly interested in the Maiden's set for now, still haven't started BBI).

Scratch that, actually this is the biggest amount of RCs I get from one swoop, although I imagine most of it coming from GAF, like DASHL- and I'm pretty sure velmenni as well :D

Someone also actually gifted me a Rank 3 BBI Cursed Weapon, and from that I got Dominion Claw, which is perfect for my Celestia! My thanks you awesome dude you! :D

You can actually reach the ledge of the cave entrance to Witchwood using Levitate, if you are a class that can wield staff.

Also I'd rather put the port crystal on the rest station just a wee bit of the Quarry's exit door, easy access to Quarry and Shadow Fort that way, plus you got a guy that can send items to storage and a riftstone.

You're gonna get hit with more lol. I killed Death 3 times with Celestia, each kill netting me 999,999 XP since I'm over 50 levels above everyone in my party.

It's so funny how much xp the game gives your pawn in order for it to catch up. Literally killing a single leapworm gives 119k exp currently. I'm level 167 while my pawn is currently 115.

Guess I won't have to worry about RC anymore! :D

My girls:

Having much more fun with this 5 year-old game than Shadow of War. So good to be back.

No prob. Tell me how much rc you get whenever you get her back. I'm interested in knowing how much that is.
I fixed up her inclinations before resting. She was scather nexus lol.

I don't think I’ll be logging back in anytime soon now. Thanks everyone again :)
She was pretty good when I used her. She was 147 then and she basically help me survive BBI when I went in a second time underleveled. Do you by any chance remember how much rc humbleboy gave you? I'm curious.

I could not kill that dragon near Conquest Road, kept flying off and dipping into the ocean. Started my NG+ run, have a couple of quests I missed out on. I also couldn't do anything to the Ur Dragon or Gazer in Bitterblack, so I think I need some more levels.

Should I hire some Gaf pawns above my level or is the hit to XP not worth it?

Kind of want to cruise through the first part and get to Gran Soren and the meat of the game.

The dragon is known to be iffy. Approach from the south road, not north, that seems to start the 'mission' you get with some beasts and makes it less likely to fly away. It still will though when mid battle, often.

Exactly 1mil rc. I dunno if that’s a hard cap or something but it was exactly 1mil.

Oh wait that might have been Vhayne. Sorry.

I've spent all of today trying to get through speed run mode. I didn't prepare as well as I could have so a speed run playthrough took me longer than I would have liked (I placed good fast travels though) and I kept getting issues. Basically every time I got to the final boss the game crashed and speed run mode doesn't allow saving.

I wish if a game crashed then games would emergency save or something. Anyways on my 2nd attempt the game didn't crash but I accidentally did the wrong thing at the end and ruined that attempt. Then the next few times it crashed again and I finally finished it just now.

Right. It's gone 3am. I need to go to bed :p

I'm not going into that mode ever again. I don't like it when I can't save progress.
