You have got to finish Dune. The book is like the sci-fi political version of LotR, except you know, enjoyable to read.

While we're talking LotR, the same thing happened to me with Fellowship of the Ring until I was finally able to break on through to the other side, as it were. I'll try to hop back on board the Dune train again one of these days, I swear.
