Porco Rosso Blu-Ray on the B7A 65" LG OLED

This is exactly what I dreamed of.

What are some premiere movies or games in 4K to try out? Does this TV upscale to 4K well? It seems to have some kind of built in motion filter that works decently, too.

Does this model have the input lag issues the old B6 had?

Omg I am just in awe at this.

Watch the Black and Chrome version of Mad Max. Shit's insane.

Even the original release looks amazing on Oled, but B&W really shows of the panel's strengths.

All the Ghibli Blu-rays are crazy good. Castle of Cagliostro on blu probably looks the best it ever has in any form, ever.

If you have a PS4 Pro and haven't played them, Horizon and Final Fantasy 15 wowed me on my 55" OLED. I could only imagine the majesty of a 65".

Welcome to emissive display GAF. Plasma has been displaying these kind of images for two decades.
I mean, it's way better than LCD. But I personally can't wait to upgrade from plasma to OLED after having it in my phones for the past 5 years.

Funny but not true:)

Burn ins were a massive problems and not just for channel logos or videogames GUIs - temporary image retention was a thing. LCDs didn't become the mainstream solution just because of the people fetish for flat screens.

It's crazy that 55 to 65 inches is the regular standard tv size now. And the tv's are actually affordable too.

Plasma was great because you could always remember old things you watched because of the screen burn in.

I always feel like I am at a movie premiere watching with my LCD's flashlighting. It's like the fox logo in every scene. I wish I could afford an OLED :(

I've had a plasma for over 12 years with no burn in. It still looks beautiful. I don't think I'll ever get rid of it until it lets out its last breath.
But, I have had my eyes on an OLED for a couple of years. Ever wish death upon something?

OP, may I personally recommend the following. These are all considered reference-grade BD releases and are a must for experiencing the best your TV can offer. I can vouch for them personally; the PQ will change your life.

Baraka
Pan's Labyrinth
Pacific Rim
Mad Max: Fury Road (standard as well as black & chrome)
Rogue One
Blackhawk Down
The Dark Knight
The Thin Red Line
The Tree of Life
Days of Heaven
Planet Earth
Life of Pi
Planet Earth 1 & 2
Avatar
Gravity
Casino Royale
Up
The Incredibles
Monsters, Inc.
Apocalypto
Transformers
Wall-E
The Lion King
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Children of Men
Deep Water Horizon
The Lord of The Rings trilogy

Your TV will sing. Don't forget to calibrate it!

Movie was meh, but Star Trek Into Darkness is mind blowing and should be on the list. Particularly the opening sequence.

You haven't gone all in with Ghibli on blu until you see Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle, bud.

Some other visual stunners:

The Revenant

Mad Max: FR

Sin City

Baraka

Planet Earth 2

Samsara

Interstellar

Rumour has it that the recent Nolan films are all coming to UHD blu next month, so for anyone looking to watch The Dark Knight or Interstellar, I would hold off. The IMAX sequences will be native 2160p.

Anyone know how this compares to the Samsung KS8000? I've heard amazing things about it but it's getting older and I'm looking for a competitor.

I moved from a KS8000 to an LG B7A. The Samsung is fantastic, but the OLED is on a whole nother level.

The KS8000 seriously comes close, but the contrast on the OLED just makes a huge difference.

AVSforum has the most trustworthy recommendations for picture quality, IMO. I take issue with a small number of the placements (Avatar is too high, I think that movie looks mediocre from a compression standpoint) but overall it's a good list.

I'm a sucker for digitally-sourced animated movies like The Lion King or Finding Nemo. No physical filming involved in the process = perfect, crisp picture, if done right.

If you want to see a really compelling HDR demo that shows why it's not "just" color, watch "Sparks" on Netflix. You can find it by searching "HDR"

It's a cool demo, but look at the welder's giant chrome belt carabineer. It's absolutely lousy with detail that is PURE color detail rather than resolution or pixels.

I'm looking forward to getting a new tv in April next year when I get my bonus from work. Living with a 40" for 5 years now and I've got my eye on a Samsung 4k 55". I'd love a 65" but the price increase is too much for me. Enjoy the 4k greatness OP

Just got an OLED as well but I'm too cheap to get a 4k player and rebuy my damn Blu-ray. Am I wasting my tv? What's the best streaming service for 4K?
