It's classic BOXBOY! gameplay with a new twist:

Pit your wits against oodles of obstacle-filled levels, including new stages where you'll need to think outside the box and ensure a safe passage for both Qbby and the adorable Qbabies. Create boxes out of thin air to build bridges, hit switches and reach riches! Whether you're tracking down crowns, conjuring up laser-beam-blocking barriers or summoning a spike-shielding stairway, there's always something to keep this clever cube on his toes.

Just like in the original BOXBOY! game, Qbby can spawn a single set of boxes – only this time, boxes can take on incredible new powers, allowing for even more puzzling opportunities. On each planet Qbby will encounter a Qbaby – a small lifeform similar in appearance to Qbby himself. These Qbabies are in need of guidance, and by helping them to safety, Qbby will be rewarded with the power to create all-new box-types. Blow walls to smithereens with a bombox, soar into the air with a box rocket, teleport with a warp box or dispatch a remote box to reach far-flung corners, as you grapple with the puzzling new possibilities on offer.

For true brainboxes, Qbby can also tackle five unlockable Challenge Worlds. Each of these imposes its own specific gameplay restriction that changes the rules in new ways. Can players get through a level without throwing boxes, or where falling too far is game over? How about helping Qbby to the goal without the ability to jump?

If you own BOXBOY! or BOXBOXBOY!, you can transfer 10 and 8 costumes from the respective game to BYE-BYE BOXBOY! If you own both games, you can even play as Qucy and play the game with a Game Boy-like colour scheme. In the Japanese version you need to purchase the Qbby amiibo to unlock these rewards.

You don't own the previous titles? You can also unlock this special colour scheme and Qucy by collecting every crown in the game.

If you own a Kirby, Meta Knight, King Dedede or Waddle Dee amiibo, you can unlock new character costumes.

In Japan, Nintendo also released a special Qbby amiibo which lets you play as Qucy and unlocks a retro colour scheme. Even though no European release of that amiibo has been announced yet, this amiibo functionality is still available in the European version.

I think I'll wait and see if that physical amiibo edition gets released in the UK. It would be the first unique amiibo to have its game localised but the amiibo unavailable if they don't release it internationally.

Gives all the fucks
Time for one more box....assuming the US gets it tomorrow.

Bummed about the fact we don't get the amiibo, but at least I can still unlock those Kirby outfits.

Oh wow, I had no idea this even existed. I'm still trying to work my way through the last few worlds of BoxBoxBoy, but it's good to know there's plenty of Boxing and Boying to be done afterwards.

Would love to have a copy of the Physical release. Can't imagine it will come west though.

Considering that even Europe isn't getting a physical release despite even getting Rhythm Paradise Megamix and Picross 3D: Round 2 at retail, a physical release in NA seems pretty unlikely.

As the Qbby amiibo doesn't have any functionality in the European version, and as they don't have a physical version ready for release, chances of a future release are very slim.

The US may not get it tomorrow as a bigger first party title releases the same day, Mario Sports Superstars.

It would be a shame if we didn't get that amiibo. I think NES Remix got a physical release after bring digital-only initially, so I think there's still a possibility even if it's slim.

Awesome, I'll get to play Sayonara Box Boy this week.

It sucks that they're not releasing the Qbby Amiibo outside Japan.

Japan only bundled Amiibo? has this happened before? Wonder if I should import one and hold onto it, flip it later for some cash.

I imported the Qbby Amibbo, it is so cute (I cannot believe HAL managed to make a box CUTE!). Cannot wait for the last game, the series is amazing. It subtely evokes a feeling of nostalgia while still being its own thing. Great gameplay. Great atmosphere too. By far my favorite eshop games. HAL has delivered on 3DS with this and the Kirby games.

Just got the game. The Qbby amiibo is actually in the list of supported amiibo in the ingame menu. I have the JP Qbby and it works, unlock the filter and Qucy. Maybe a sign it will come here?

Just also saw it in the game. Would point towards it, yes. Still odd that they implemented other ways to unlock these bonuses.

Oof, the amiibo isn't selling for cheap. Would've liked to import one considering it doesn't seem like a likely release here at this point

more boxboy! shame it is the last one but at the same time i'm glad they are keeping it to just three contained games. Last two games have been great, will pick it up later.

Cannot play right now but I have noticed you have 3 color swap options unlocked if you have the 3 games or the Qbby Amiibo : regular (black, white and colors), Retro (Greenish GB) and Black and white (a la BoxBoy and BoxBoxBoy). Neat, I thougt it was regular and Retro only.

I'm not the biggest fan of escort missions in general but introducing another character to navigate round a stage is fun here. Only at world 6 at the moment but i really like the different mechanics they have introduced so far.

It might be possible to import off of AmazonJP, search for the relevant "Amazon Japan now ships worldwide" thread.

I would've done that but I just bought one off eBay for a similar price.

Wish the difficulty was a bit higher. In world 11 already with no trouble yet.

Even with crowns? That's unfortunate to hear.

So is there still no release date yet for North America?

c'mon NOA, what the fuck is this

I think L~A mentioned it was originally slated for today per a previous NOA Twitter post and that the tweet was deleted so I'm hoping it's coming soon.

Hm, yeah I'll look into that. Thanks

To be fair every game in this series is incredibly easy, the only challenge may come in the form of the Extra Worlds, I remember some of the extra stages in BoxBoxBoy being quite devious.

May I have a cookie?
I love the fact that more Nintendo studios are branching out with new IP such as Splatoon, Arms, Pushmo, HarmoKnight (even Tembo), S.T.E.A.M., BoxBoy etc. but I really wish HAL pushed themselves a little harder artistically.

What do you mean ? The BoxBoy series has some great art and sound design, this is in fact something I love about the series since puzzleplatformer tend to be a bit too "straight forward" in terms of artistic direction but this one has something really special going for it.

I just finished BoxBoxBoy so now I can resume with Sayonara BoxBoy even though I spoiled myself on the ending.

Game is currently at 88% on Metacritic...with 6 reviews only. I really wish eshop games had a better coverage in the press.
The game is really good and so charming, I am surprised how many new ideas they managed to find (world 2 currently). A bit on the "easy side". I don't think it is easier than before but rather that I have already played more than 30 hours of Box(box)Boy gameplay before it ;-)
