Treasure says Sin and Punishment Wii sequel not out of the question

You asked for it. You got it.

Errr, MAYBE. Also, I need to read thread titles before I hit submit.

From the new issue of Nintendo Power:

Coming from the latest issue of Nintendo Power…

NP: When we spoke a couple of years ago, you mentioned that you would like to do a sequel to Sin and Punishment. Has the team given any more thought to that? And don’t you think it would be a perfect fit for Wii?

Masato Maegawa, Treasure: When we were originally working on Sin and Punishment [for Virtual Console], there was some discussion utilizing Wii-like controls, and I think now that we’re working more with the Wii, it is something we’d very much like to try.

If you guys are going to make a new S&P game for the Wii, what would you want to see added besides wiimote controls?

I'd like to see characters and ships fighting together cooperatively. Oh, and add online play with leaderboards.

Just having the remote would probably automatically put it five steps above the first game--and I loved the first game.

Add Co-Op, build it from the ground up with Wiimote accuracy in mind, make it longer than the original and you have a fucking perfect game right there.

Note to self: Hardcore gamers still spends lots and lots and lots of money.
Note to self: It's about time these companies remembered why they're in business in the first place.

Woohoo for fan service!

Also, keep the button for the sword swinging. Don't make us swing the wiimote and have to combine swinging + IR pointing. IT DOESN'T WORK.

I don't know, normally I'd agree with you but I haven't had any problems with it in RE4.

But there will be actual sword battles. Great sword battles. and there will be shooting. lots of shooting. And then, then you will face god.

It depends on how they do it, and how quickly they can get the motion to be picked up by the console.

Wow, seriously? I get to face God? I knew the Japanese were intense people, but God? Wow. I don't know how I feel about shooting at God. Swords would be cool though. I'm down for a one-on-one battle of swords with God.

Get rid of the fucking side-scrolling stages! UGH.

A sequel would be unbelievably welcome though. Bring it on!

More like this is the usual "say we're not currently developing something when we really are" deal, am I right?

I hope I'm right... =(

If they release a Sin & Punishment sequel for Wii, they should get canonized. Even if they aren't dead yet.

But RE4 doesn't move you automatically. You have to readjust while the game moves you.
I suppose that The Umbrella Chronicles will be our first real chance to see how well that'd work then.

Now this is why I buy VC games even though I already have them on the original systems.
If enough people buy them, it sends a clear message.
Instead of whining why there aren't more classical style games being developed, we can send a them a signal that we still want these kind of games.

The saying "vote with your wallet" has never been more appropriate. First Star Soldier and now this. :)

That's great to read. Really, a Sin and Punishment sequel on Wii makes waaay too much sense for them not to at least consider it. Now get on it !

You know, the more I think about, the more Treasure's decision to break their no-sequels policy seems a good idea!
