Windows antivirus software is far from 100% effective. It's still quite a gamble on a PC unless you're using a Mac, Linux, or a sandboxed VM. Using a tablet or games console to visit questionable sites is a much safer move.

Sorry. My language was dickish and I didn't mean to sound like I was attacking you personally. My point was that for the average Windows user, browsing such sites on a console is a safer option and why they might choose to do so. I see PCs infected with malware all the time in my line of work and visiting porn and piracy sites without taking precautions is a major source. In many cases it's not the sites themselves you have to worry about but the ads they run that carry the payloads. I'm not saying it's impossible to do safely, since script blocking and sandboxing tools exist, but most people aren't that savvy. AV and simple Ad blockers aren't always enough.
NP, my first response was plenty dickish as well. Believe it or not (and on internet forums, the safest response is probably "not"), I've a strong academic and professional background in cs / software engineering; one of the areas I spent some significant time focusing in through my career was software/network security. Due to that, I get a bit of a juvenile chip on shoulder when someone tries to lecture me about security, but, like I said in my last edit, ultimately your point about erring on the side of caution/protection when visiting adult sites on Windows machines is the best advice to give for the average user. Keep spreading the good word!

Practically speaking, Firefox + Ublock + Noscript is going to stop everything but zero day's, and those are most likely to be delivered through mainstream sites, not backwater porn.

Edit: Fuck, I wrote a defense about people clicking on incest porn without paying attention to the category before re-reading the OP. I was totally wrong, those are explicit text searches for incest terms, not accidental thumbnail clicks for attractive women that happen to be fake-incest clips. Goddamn, I give up, people are disgusting after all.
