During a speech on Monday at Liberty University, a Christian school in Lynchburg, Virginia, GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump quoted the Bible when speaking to the student body.

But there was just one problem. Instead of saying that the verse came from "Second Corinthians," Trump mistakenly attributed the verse to "Two Corinthians," pronouncing the New Testament book as it is often written, with the number "2": "2 Corinthians."

@Kyle_Feldscher This is like in Inglorious Basterds where Fassbender gives away that he's English by using the wrong signal for 3.

Checkmate, atheists.

fuckin liberty university. i had the displeasure of being near one of their student recruiters once and i wanted to throw myself into traffic.

worse than for-profit schools. ugh.

The electorate doesn't care. Like any good prophet, he doesn't have to actually know what he's doing, as long as he carries out God's work.

Amen.

Trump first executive action will just be the collection and replacement of all "Second Corinthians" books with the Trump-approved "2 Corinthians" versions

Religious nuts love con men. Any shady stranger can claim he loves the bible and they'll trust him more than their atheist neighbour.

God bless all my old friends/And god bless me too, why pretend?
I don't follow? Saying Two is perfectly valid. I even had priests at school say it that way once in a while.

It's not that weird. I've heard people say "Two Corinthians," "Two Thessalonians," etc. when talking quickly and informally.

It is a pretty big signal to religious folks. NOBODY that goes to church would say 2 instead of second.

I have gone to church all my life and I have known plenty of people that said it like that. I saw him say it this morning and have asked multiple people throughout the day if they cared, and nope, this doesn't mean anything to anyone other than maybe a quick meaningless chuckle. He was received as one of them when he was there earlier, they didn't care, no one cared...

I can't recall ever hearing it said this way.

Not that we needed more evidence that Trump is a fraud and the people who like him are fools though.

I was in Catholic schools from K-12 and I heard 2 plenty of times. Not sure if there's a difference in how Christians vs Catholics say it.

Former Catholic here. If you think it's "Two Corinthians" and not "Second", it's because you don't go to Church and were just reading off some notes someone else had prepared for you.

Republicans worship the proliferation of Christianity, not the proliferation of Christian values. As long as Trump promises to make "Merry Christmas" the standard holiday greeting and keep muslims out of the country, Trump won't lose support.

Is anybody surprised that Trump isn't a churchman? The dude's fortune is in casinos. He's a King of Sin. His appeal isn't anything to do with his credentials as a man of faith.

Yeah, the mental gymnastics I've seen employed by professing Christians to support Trump is very disappointing. His very character is the antithesis of what Christians are called to be. His entire life is built on cashing in on the vices of others. Heck, he's been married like four times. Has the electorate ever considered that acceptable before for Presidential nominees?
