Did Camilla get censored?

I still think Camilla's design would be fine if it were not for the stupid panty window. The cleavage is neither here nor there, but that will never not look dumb.

I mean this isn't unusual. Valkyria Chronicle's acclaimed character design was also done by a porn artist and many artists, in general, dabble in this topic at some point. Kinda like Writers and Trashy Romance Novels.
Yep. Lot of H-mangaka get work as designers for anime and such. There is some really good looking porn art in the H-scene.

Yeah. I mean work is work regardless of subject material, you still make it look good with the right shading, lines and framing.

That being said, I don't think the character design here with this is particularly interesting or phenomenal much like the first game. It's rather silly but I can roll with that because I'll probably end up getting attached to them over the course of the game and it'll be cool. I have faith that Takahashi can write a compelling cast that has a good dynamic just like the first game.

They brought him back in a supervisory role. Soraya wasn't there, Tanaka gone, Mitsuda, etc.

The only point I'm trying to make is that in comparison, the game and character designs were a far cry from Episode 1's scientist Shion and largely unsexualized KOS-MOS to unbuttoned pants and underboob crotch hole Androids.

What is your thought process on Lorithia's breast window and the ever so battle ready no pants on?

Damn we're still on the same ridiculous topic ?
Because design = writing now ?
It's Monolithsoft not Namco Bandai or worst.

Is there any place to discuss about this game without getting in the same old "face" topic we get since before 2010 with the first episode ?

Design isn't great but people are going way over board in defending they're personal opinion. It's ok if you don't like it.

Good to know there's a lot more game than the spotlight trailer showed.

Aesthetic is story. Gameplay is story. Writing is story. It's a fair criticism if people genuinely feel like it'll interfere with their enjoyment of the written material. That being said, refusing to take the merits of the game into account is probably being a bit shortsighted. For example, I like a lot of the changes and refinements to the combat in auto attacks and buttons being more involved rather than a clunkier D pad selection interface of before. Plus the removal of the game telling enemy characteristics and you instead having to learn those. There's a nice bit more experimentation and decision making here which is great for an exploration game like Xenoblade.

Didn't Xenogears's artist do some porn as well? Or am I thinking of Xenosaga's?
Same person, if talking about Ep. I specifically (Kunihiko Tanaka). I wouldn't know about that for him specifically, but it's not uncommon for some video game artists to have history in that regard (as with Valkyria Chronicles' artist, as already mentioned by another poster).

I was not a fan of XCX so XC2 using it as a basis on it is...not encouraging, especially when coupled with the laughable voice acting in the E3 trailer.

I think the better question is "Who taught her that going into battle in a bikini bottom with her cleavage exposed via boob armor that doesn't cover said breasts...or having boob armor to begin with, is a good idea?".

XC1 not XCX. The HD framework was established by XCX (which is what Takahashi is referring to here), but the game design is more in line with XC1.

Apparently no, and it's starting to fucking irritate me.

That being said, refusing to take the merits of the game into account is probably being a bit shortsighted. For example, I like a lot of the changes and refinements to the combat in auto attacks and buttons being more involved rather than a clunkier 2 side interface of before. But you're actually agreeing with me with your enumeration.
Aesthetic is story yes, but so are all the other elements you wrote.
Meaning it's ok to not feel good about each parts separately.
And I don't really care if people like the game or not especially, I just want it to be as I like and more games like it.

But I check forums here and there and the "discussions" rarely encourage me to participate.
I usualy get every piece of news and translate it (if in Japanese) to share with some people but all of this doesn't make me want to do it as much as it did with X. Getting tired of reading the same.

I rarely create topics anywhere also because of that. I don't really care about criticism, I mean, I'm not a developer or anything, but I also like the discussions to go somewhere if you see what I mean. I'm not Skypunch, never will I insult the others because they like a game or not, instead I take some distance and forget about sharing stuff.

Where are we talking about the generous battle system that's hiding its strategy pretty well behind a better UI with easier button mapping, many many Blades with different weapons, Arts and more making the game give more customisation than even X maybe.
The new effects in battle, weather, exploration.
The interesting atsmophere that goes far over the simple "boo hoo we're getting kids", with Takahashi involved anda story that seems to be quite intense but not as Fake over dramatic as your average Jrpg... and so on.

There's so much to cover and there's even more to discover...

Yes anyone can dislike the game, no problem. I personaly don't like some games that are loved by millions of people, whatever, I'm not going on every topics to say how much I hate the characters or battles... all the time ; ).

People complaining about character design, bickering between fans of Xenoblade and Xenoblade X over which game is better...Good grief...

As a fan of both games, this one (character design included) looks great, and I look forward to a continuation of the XCX story/design elements as well down the road...

I definitely know that feeling well. I've been a huge fan of the Fire Emblem games for a long time and 90% of the time the volatility of discussions makes me uneasy to participate. Sometimes they're nice but the probability just makes me throw my hands in the air.

I do hope you share news though because I love these games a lot and my Japanese kinda sucks super badly.

I really would like to see how Takahashi handles how the metaphysics of the world work this time. It's always so fun to see how they work in the Xeno series. Leibniz was such a cool inspiration for XC1.

I was thinking on opening a topic for the game's twitter account and translate the new tweets coming or something like this (since it seems the official website is getting an English version at the same time). But I don't know if it would be interesting or if it can be like an "OT" and remain for a while so I can update the new tweets or whatever...
Maybe someone could help me with that.

Oh yes... definitely want to see his touch too but FIRST, I want more than anything my Chaos/Alviss/Elma character : (.

Edit : I could have actually translated Takahashi's message on tuesday. That's what I would have done during X waiting ha ha. I was writing so much...
That's Monolith's hype : /.

if he wants to try different things, why not create a new IP?
It's really hard to be a Xeno fan these recent years, there are moments that give you hope like with X, which seemed like a good base to build his story and finally reboot his Perfect Works vision.

And then you read these comments from takahashi and it seems that a sequel to X is impossible...

Then this comment "I'll leave the stories about the solemn old men and hot stylish guys to someone else(even though there's way more demand for that stuff), and go ahead with this."
thx i'm tired of all these jrpg's with this kind of artstyle with a young boy as protagonist, it would be great to try something different :(

I kinda hated the trailer in the Spotlight, but the Treehouse demo brought me around. And the music is great, as others have pointed out. I'm cautiously optimistic.

I'm pretty sure we're getting a sequel to X down the road.

XCX was originally announced as a new IP before getting a Xenoblade title later on. Takahashi has gone on record saying that he considers XC and XCX to be separate sub-series, with XC2 fitting in the first category. There's also this quote from yesterday (source):

”The way I see it," says Takahashi, ”I feel as though Xenoblade 1 and 2 are connected and linked in the sense that they're linear and story-driven games, whereas Xenoblade Chronicles X was more focused on open world and exploration, and maybe an online aspect. I feel like I'd like to continue to create games separating those two aspects out."

It sounds like he's interested in alternating between making XC games and making XCX games.

I think it's perfectly fine for Takahashi to want to try something he hasn't done before with the story. It really does seem like Xenoblade is going to be Nintendo's Final Fantasy.

XCX was originally announced as a new IP before getting a Xenoblade title later on.

Wasn't it just announced at E3 2013 as Xenoblade X?

Edit: nvm, it was announced as X, I remember now.

This is one of my most anticipated games coming out, loved everything about it so far. The combat seems streamlined yet complex, and the setting looks incredible with lots of varied environments. Just what I like in a JRPG. Can't wait hopefully it does indeed come this year.

the name is another problem, dumb decision to name it Xenoblade, if they decide to make a sequel, the average person wouldn't understand the difference between them.

Is it possible Nintendo asked for the games to all keep "Xenoblade" in the title at least ?
And is that so important ?
It could be named azerty quest, would still be awesome.

Doesn't read OPs, especially not his own
Yeah, exactly what I was thinking. This character is blatant pedo garbage that you see all the time in games like this.

Xenoblade didn't really fall into this trap to my knowledge, so why this?
Pedo garbage? This chick towers over the main character

Before it was officially named, I was thinking it could be called Xenocross.

that would be perfect, i hoped that they would rename it and port the first X on Switch to prepare us for the sequel, but i decided to give up.
I dont want to have false hopes for a sequel that might never happen.

And i'm sick of all the negativity over the years, all the Sawano bashing, the story and character bashing, artstyle bashing.
I know there are many X supporters, but they are the vocal minority unfortunately.

From what I read, Takahashi seemed to want to have 2 separate series actually.
I don't know if everyone is interepreting their way but for me the possibility is extremely high if not a sure thing.
Everything that's happening right now is pretty logical from what we knew during the past months/years and a sequel to X is part of this logic.

I don't see Monolithsoft continuously go for numbered Xenoblade anyway. There will be more, but not in a row.

Haha they lent Pokemon to Toshihiro Ono to draw a manga (Electric Tale of Pikachu), while at the same time he was working on lolicon and shotacon and other weird shit. This isn't rare.

Misty's art was ... bizarre in that manga to say the least

The Japanese title, XenobladeX, makes a bit more sense than the English title since the name is pronounced "Xenoblade Cross" over there.

I think it's a lot more egregious in English because it's pronounced "X" instead of "Cross" and they decided to keep the "Chronicles" part of the title.

I'm a bit of an idiot when it comes to visual content (and visual stuff in real life too) and not a 'boob person,' but I think that I didn't notice her boobs until we started talking about it speaks to them not being done up as much as you can find pretty easily in Japanese games.

Looking at that gif, part of it could be that that purple sort of obscures for me how individuated the boobs are. Maybe that's why I don't see how they are particularly excessive. That gif changes my mind a bit :p.

But still think it is mostly the ridiculous panties and just generally trash design.
