BRUSSELS, Oct. 3 (AP) - (Kyodo)—Notes referring to the name of a serial killer in the popular Japanese comic "Death Note" were found near human body parts in southern Brussels last week, according to a recent local newspaper report.

Two notes reading "Watashi wa Kira desu," a Japanese phrase meaning "I am Kira," were left at the scene, according to an article published Monday by Belgium's La Derniere Heure.

In the comic, the main character tries to rid the world of evil by typing the names of criminals on a Death Note, which has the power to kill them. The unidentified serial killer is known as Kira.

According to the article, a man walking in a Brussels park last Friday afternoon found thighs and a lower abdomen. The body parts are believed to belong to a Caucasian man who has yet to be identified.

The newspaper reported that local police have launched a murder investigation and that they consider it unlikely that the notes were left there coincidentally.

Translated versions of "Death Note" are available in Belgium, where the comic is popular among young people.

Supersonic, idiotic, disconnecting, not respecting, who would really ever wanna go and top that
So Kira controlled the actions of someone and made them commit this murder, before their own death. Interesting...Actually this is a horrible tragedy.

The real Kira would have said, "Amateur."

well considering that this person or people really did kill someone, and the "real Kira" is a make-believe comic book..

Idiots. Yeah when I was younger and watched DBZ 24/7 I thought about how great it would be to do all this stuff and day dreamed about it, bt I didn't wake up one day and try to "power up" or fuckign shoot beams from my hands.

I guess Death Note is a bit more "realistic" but some people need mental help.

:lol Not everyone has good taste, defuser.

I wonder, did the murderer miss the part where Kira killed people by giving heart attacks?

China itself is likewise trying to weed out pirated copies of the books and television series, as well other Japanese horror magazines, where no legal publication house prints it. Wang Song of the National Anti-piracy and Anti-pornography Working Committee has said that the series "misleads innocent children and distorts their mind and spirit".

A couple months ago, I went over to my friend's place. He has been selling off anime merchandising over on Ebay, so I checked out the stuff he had, and stumbled across a "Death Note" book.

My first reaction was "is it the real death note?" :(

Man. I miss DN so much :(

Considering some of the responses, I wouldn't be surprised if one of you people ends up being the killer.

So what's the origin of the Weeaboo? I found the definition on Urban dictionary, but why is the word "Weeaboo" used? Is it the result of the combination of other words or what?
