Strange how Mario Kart DS is basically unfazed by Mario Kart Wii.

Outside of the top2, a pretty 'low' sales volume, it seems.

So next week Mario Kart will outsell Galaxy? Is this the first time MK has outsold a main Mario game?

And wow at We're Fossil Diggers performing at all. I know it's Nintendo published, but it just looks so mediocre.

GBA:
Mario Kart > Super Mario Advance 1-4 (not combined)

GCN:
Mario Kart > Sunshine

N64:
Mario Kart > Mario 64

NDS:
NSMB > *
Mario Kart > Mario 64 DS

The answer is "no." ;)

Those are "NEW BEST PRICE" releases from Capcom. Last week was Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney and Justice for All, and this week will be Trials and Tribulations and Apollo Justice. All priced at 2000 yen I think.

Edit: Beaten.

Fucking ridiculous, I still don't see how NSMB can sell over 4 million and SMG is barley getting to 1 million.

Also at the budget-budget release. Good to see them selling though

No, actually you're more right than I was. I thought I had remembered SO1 doing much better out of the gate for raw numbers, but after going to look back, that wasn't the case. Perhaps subconsciously all I remembered was SO1 opening with a six-figure number and SO2 only having a five-figure number.

Edit: Not to mention SO1 looked like a far more substantial remake and had the advantage of being near the holidays. So this isn't too bad at all, I suppose.

Besides the obvious sales prevalence of one platform over another, I honestly think that it has to do with how multiplayer the game is. As phenomenal as SMG's 1P game is, its "Dual-star co-op" is nowhere as ridiculously fun as NSMB's VS. Mode.

NSMB:

-Has been out a year and a half longer
-Is on a system with a bigger install base
-Costs less to buy
-Is 2D, which generally makes for tighter platforming (no issues with judging depth, etc.)
-Has a title that blatantly harkens back to the original Super Mario Bros., which to Japan (and everywhere, really) is of legendary stature
-Is a portable title, which means that relatives/spouses/etc. might own one copy each instead of having one disc to a family

And most importantly, of course, NSMB's Fire Flower grants a powerup that lasts until you get hit, rather than that time-limited stuff in SMG. :(

You sure? I just noticed this is weird, but IGN had their review up and it was something real low like 4-6 I think. It's gone now, though, maybe they put it up too early. I was hoping it'd be good though - maybe it still is, I've never liked IGN's reviews anyway, but just throwing that out there.

yea that was the only review id seen of it and they basicly said it was terrible. But maybe they were the only ones that thought it was that bad

It's not a fantastic game but 10 sports (none of which are in Wii Sports) in one package is a great deal.
