Keep Your Wii Dust Free™ Use the BC to play awesome Gamecube Titles!

I know many of my friends missed out on the Gamecube but own a Wii and I guess the same could be said for many GAFfers. I tried to keep it to exclusive GC games, I might add superior third party games like Soul Calibur II if I get the time. Hope I haven't missed anything major. Enjoy.

Step 1:
If you're thinking of starting GCBC then I recommend investing in one of these:

I love the enthusiasm and all, but aren't there a number of GC Library appreciation/genre overview threads?

I have played most of those games, I love the Gamecube. Never heard of Homeland before ... is that a mystery dungeon style game? classic RPG? simulation? looks interesting.

It was one of the very, very few games to use the broadband adapter for internet play. Not much is known about it, but since games are hosted locally, you could probably still play it without assistance. (Unlike PSO, which you can only play on private servers)

Great thread, thanks OP.

Ah, Cubivore, always wanted to play it, but, it wasn't released in PAL land!
Any advice to how getting it? Only piece on ebay is >150EUR. Frak!

Also, I will be buying FFCC soon enought, now I have a shitton of hardware to play it.

I still haven't played Thousand Year Door yet. I need to rectify that.

A lot of those games on there I wouldn't recommend (Battalion Wars, Geist, Pokemon Coll.)

Alexios

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
A lot of these are on Wii/have sequels on Wii, or just aren't very good. You might as well ask people to play their older Wii games now that little else is releasing too, it's not like it has less worthy stuff than the Cube. Especially since you include imports. Anyway, just saying, you can make GC appreciation threads without depreciating the Wii.

What's Super Mario Strikers like? Rebuilding a Gamecube collection at the moment and not sure if its worth picking up.

Kind of a shallow game tbh. Characters had stats, but they weren't any "differences" (I think Donkey Kong's banana's were better) and the super strikes back then were pretty lame. I'd pass on it unless you have a sibling or a close friend and you both enjoy soccer.

Just lately I was thinking which Gamecube games I could still get. Doesn't look like there's anything that I'd still need, got most of the quality stuff in there. (Wanted Ikaruga, but thats quite expensive right now.) Hoping for more recommendations in here.

How's PN03...?

It's threads like this that make me remember why I loved the gamecube so much. People said it had no good games... bah!

I still regret never having played Skies of Arcadia. Well, that and Eternal Darkness and P.N.0.3.
I've got PN03 and ED on my amazon wishlist for just in case one day...

edit:

You really, really need to. It's one of the most enjoyably written and playing games of all time.

I'm still on the lookout for Baten Kaitos games.

They're not that hard to find, Origins might get a little expensive but nothing outrageous. And it's totally worth it. (The first Baten Kaitos is a bit heh but still an enjoyable game)

I wish I still had my Gamecube games (they were all stolen), so many memories. Glad to see Bomberman Generations getting mentioned, I really loved that game.

Some day, I will track down a copy of Kirby's Air Ride and find out what all the fuss over a 61 Metascore game is about.

Pretty much the only thing I use my Wii for these days. Went through Prime 1 last month, so good. May be time for another playthrough of The Thousand Year Door as well.

Seeing Melee at the bottom of the list makes me bitter though, even if it was organized by genre. /whine

Yoshi

Headmaster of Console Warrior Jugendstrafanstalt
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle also is sort of exclusive to GCN (Of course, Dreamcast has the main game too, but SA2b has some additions).

The Cube/Wii turned out to be the least played consoles I have ever owned. That's just the way it turned out. Do I regret getting them? Nope. Thinking back the sheer enjoyment I got from playing RE4 was astronomical. I loved that fucking game. Viewtiful Joe was very fun too. I enjoyed GC it more than Wii. I think the last game I really liked on Wii was Madworld. As you can tell Nintendo games sort of fell of my flavor. I did enjoy playing Galaxy and the last Paper Mario game.... But I could never get into Sunshine and I stopped playing both Windraker and Twlight. That's just me though. There is no doubt I might have missed more games that I would have enjoyed.

Amazing Island
Bomberman Generation
Cubivore: Survival of the Fittest
Custom Robo
Doshin The Giant
Evolution Worlds
Lost Kingdoms / II

I'll try to play these games before selling my Wii.

Gamestop is actually a good source for used Gamecube games. They will milk you on the Mario games, but everything else is between 7 and 15 bucks.

Yeah I;ll add Killer7, also Ikaruga is there.

Yeah, I just didn't spot it, but I can't find anywhere Super smash bros melee and Zelda Four swords adventure.
.
And it has just occurred to me you could also throw in Zelda's games that were released as collectors/bonus discs, such as A link to the past, Zelda II, OoT/Master quest and Majora's mask.

Pretty nice list by the way, although if you don't mind me making a little suggestion, a short description of each game would be useful for those who are not familiar with them - incidentally I know so little about that Japan-only stuff -, you cannot possibly understand what a game's about from a single screenshot.

As far as I'm concerned, on top of my Wii backlog I have still quite a bunch of unfinished GC games, so I approve of this topic's intent.

when people mention the Gamecube, it keeps on reminding me that I still haven't finished Skies of Arcadia Legends yet even Super Mario Sunshine and Path of Radiance.

Also, forgive me GAF, I really couldn't get into Baten Kaitos Origins... :(

Love the Gamecube, but in the OP:

Chibi Robo
Custom Robo

Are these actually considered good? I have them, I played Chibi Robo for a while and... it was pretty, well, boring? Am I the only one?

I only got Custom Robo because it was like $9.99 or something on clearance and it was a mech game on Gamecube and looked cool. Never played it, but whenI was about to give it a go I started reading about it and didn't seem like it was considered that good.

Mario Golf and F-Zero GX are mega addicting though.

Mario Sunshine leaves a stain in my mouth, but it's not terrible. Just terribly annoying. Like Baby Mario Crying.

I liked Wave Race, but didn't see that in the OP. It was a launch title IIRC.

Danny Dudekisser

I paid good money for this Dynex!
I've been meaning to play a lot of Gamecube games that have been sitting on my shelf, sealed for years. Such as Paper Mario, the superior version of Twilight Princess (played it on the Wii first, though), and Fire Emblem. But yeah, the system's got a lot more good games than people seem to give it credit for.

As a Nintendo fan I know that good things come to those who wait. Tales of Symphonia, Paper Mario 2, Metroid Prime, Eternal Darkness, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Resident Evil Remake and 4 are some of the best games ever made, there just a handful of the great list in the opening post.

There's a good balance of mature and colourful games that the Wii didn't quite master. If the Wii U compares, then honestly I'll be happy.

If it helps people, I can do that.

I reckon even a short description of each game would be useful to give some further insight, although I know that may take you some effort and frankly I am not even sure whether it'd be worth your while, since this topic may be dead in a relatively short time.

I'd love to play more cube games, the problem is that around here its almost impossible to find cube games and importing its really expensive
