Favourite? Red. It might not be the best (maybe even the worst) but hearing it fills my heart and soul with sweet, sweet nostalgia.

Route 209 from Pokemon Diamond/Pearl is one of my favourite tracks from those games, but I haven't decided if I like the Day or Night arrangement.

The theme for Sunset Colosseum is another favourite, even if Pokemon Battle Revolution wasn't that great of a game.

I'm just going through the soundtrack from each generation on youtube and I can say that Pokemon has one of the best soundtracks out there. Goodness, they're all great.

Cool Facts: Game of War has been a hit since July 2013
Route 209 from Pokemon Diamond/Pearl is one of my favourite tracks from those games,

Yeah, that may be the greatest pokemon song ever. It's such a good song that it even found its way into Brawl.

Personally, I didn't like Black/White music, but a lot of people mention how good B2/W2's soundtrack is. Is the soundtrack in 2 far superior to the soundtrack in regular B/W?

May rank of the OST's would be 1=2> 4> 3> 6>>>5.

All Pokémon games have unbelievable solid soundtracks. I love how every town and most routes have their own recognizable tunes. I don't find the trainer battle themes that memorable. They are good, but I don't care that much about them. Nevertheless, all of Pokémon's soundtracks are great.

Nothing can top gen 2.
It has the best route music, best cave music and the best town music, among others. I'll point out a few favorites...

Welcome to the World of Pokemon/Route 30
Pokemon Lab
Pokemon Center
Wild Pokemon (best wild Pokemon theme in the series)
New Bark Town
Route 29 (Gen 2 has the best route music, easily)
Route 46
Cherrygrove City/Mahogany Town
Rival Challenge (BEST RIVAL MUSIC TOO OMG)
Rival Battle
Trainer Battle
Dark Cave/Slowpoke Well/Ice Path (Best cave music? Probably!)
Violet City/Olivine City
Bellsprout Tower
Ruins of Alph (so good)
Azalea Town/Blackthorn City
Goldenrod City
Bicycle
National Park
Ecruteak City/Cianwood City (possibly the best track in the franchise. SO GOOD)

Tin Tower

Route 27
Indigo Plateau
SS Aqua

And last but certainly not least...

Vs. Red (AKA The greatest final boss music in video game history)

Blows my mind how many memorable tracks this game has. The 8 bit sound goes so damn well with Pokemon. GB Sounds in HG/SS was the greatest thing ever.

I think this is one of my favorite soundtracks in all gaming. Vs. Red gives me tingles every time I listen to it. It might as well be my favorite Pokemon soundtrack. I'm surprised how great the 8 bit system was too. They pulled it off so well. I got to hand it to the composers.

Pokemon music is a big guilty pleasure of mine. I'm a huge fan of the games and am reasonably open about that, but listening to game music seems to be perceived as "weird" by a lot of people, so my iPod is like a hall of shame. I just love game music on when I'm working, since I can focus on work without getting distracted by lyrics - plus the songs are designed to not get tedious after so many listens.

Here are some of my favourite Pokemon tunes.

The music in Lilycove city is some of my favourite music from any game. The video I linked is the anime remix of the song which I love an absurd amount. I mean, I really love it. I wish it wasn't so short, but I haven't found any extended edits of it. I'm close to learning how to extend music myself just so I can listen to it for longer. I realise how nerdy that is.

The National Park theme from G/S/HG/SS is a classic, and so peaceful. Made me love that area.

The night-time Hearthome City music is another really chill piece of music. In fact, the whole Diamond/Pearl soundtrack is great for that reason. I don't like playing most games when it's night in-game, since they are less colourful and generally a bit more miserable, but D/P/Pt just made it really relaxing and that makes it one of my favourite games to play in the evening.

I loved how the X/Y gym leader battle theme was so different from previous ones. When I heard the even more hype remix with Korrina in the game I was pretty happy. My only issue with the song is that since the game is way easier than past titles, the battles aren't as epic they sound like they should be. I hope Z or whatever is a harder game that lives up to the song.

In B2/W2 Iris and Colress have great battle music too, but I'll quit gushing now. I could probably go on and on about most of the tracks in the games but I have to stop somewhere, haha. This post was geekier than even I expected.

Pokemon Colosseum imo has the best ost of any Pokemon game, but I understand that it must be a controversial opinion. IMO 'First Battle', 'Normal Battle' and 'Minor B's theme' are the highlights.

I'm a huge fan of the older OST's personally (HG/SS and FR/LG). But I've actually really enjoyed every game's OST! Was also really impressed with the music in RSE so that definitely is on the top of my list as well!

From RBY, GSC, FRLG, HGSS, and B2W2, the Kanto gym leaders always have one of the best themes in the games they're in. Hopefully we get another PWT in Z, so we can continue the trend of getting a fresh remix of their music each generation.

One thing I've really liked about Pokémon is that its soundscape never really changes. All of the menu sounds and stuff like that are exactly what they were in RBY, and all of its music is really, really "video gamey". It's maintained an electronic genre, and is also branching out into dubstep, which is the next logical step.

When I hit the Legendary remix in X/Y is when that all really started to click with me how the Pokémon soundtrack has come so far, but hasn't really changed at all.

A post I made in a previous thread.

Pokemon Black and white is a masterpiece. I normally don't care too much about the story in Pokemon games and although it's still nothing groundbreaking it had a huge amount of effort and heart put into it.

The soundtrack is stunning, you actually care about the characters and they actually have depth. It had me hooked from beginning to end. Some of the best times I've had gaming was during that play-through.

Maybe it's just me. But playing with my headphones on nestled in bed grinding my way through after a break from Pokemon was a breath of fresh air.

The bad guy's actually had depth and reason. And I found it kinda emotional. It's simple and dare I say primitive stuff but its executed well.

The soundtrack is amazing and by the end you feel sentimental about the whole game.
Route 10
Emotion
High Link
Bicycle
Route 8 (Winter)
Musical
Route 2 (Autumn)
Surf
Kagome Town
Belle
Sky Arrow Bridge
Warehouse of broken dreams
Pleasure Boat
Sazanami Town
Labratory
Ending

I cant stop listening to music from this game! My best video game experience of all time.

I dare somebody to tell me any of the tracks from the above list is bad. Black and White ost was phenomenal.

X and Y was also amazing. I actually imported the soundtrack for it. 4 discs. Amazing stuff.

I won't link them but Route 1, Friends Theme, It's a Pokemon battle!, Santalune City, Gate, Lumiose City, Professor Sycamore's Theme, Champhrier Town, Together with Shauna, Bicycle, Geosenge Town, Tower of Mastery, Riding Skiddo, Coumarine City, The Kalos Power plant, Laverre City, Route 15, An eternal Prison, Battle! (Xerneas/Yveltal), Route 18, How About a Song? "Jubilife City", The Pokemon League, Battle! (Elite Four), Kiseki are all phenomenal.

Seriously I love the whole soundtrack. Got it on right now in fact and I'm smiling and have watery eyes. So much fun was had with that beautiful game. My GOTY last year.

Quick edit: The one track I just couldn't handle listening to in X/Y was the Friend Safari music. Uuugh I found it so obnoxious.

R/B/Y and G/S/C had my favourite soundtracks. The gym and champion battle themes were glorious.

Both the ending credits songs were great too. Huge waves of nostalgia hitting me right now thinking of them.

For those who don't know, Shota Kageyama, sound director for B/W and X/Y, has left Game Freak to form his own production studio. I have a reputation for indifference towards his oeuvre, but this is exciting stuff, even if he isn't working on Pokémon soundtracks in the near-future.

My main knock on the Pokemon OST's is that they re-use the songs but don't do too much with them.
Every battle theme and biking theme has been different since Gen 2, even if they share stylings (and they often don't, aside from their sanguinity). If anything, Kageyama's presence is what feels so off about the recent Pokémon soundtracks: Ichinose and Adachi both aim for a similar take on the music, Sato is able both to mimic others and apply her own style, but Kageyama's very indebted to his JRPG soundtrack influences, for better or worse.

Route 216 from Diamond/Pearl is secretly the best Pokemon music.
Based Ichinose. A good many of posters' favorites here come from him; Corless' theme's a great example of how he can interpret Masuda's original influences for the battle themes, bringing the music to a ridiculous level of controlled chaos.

I'm surprised Pokémon music doesn't get more praise considering how popular the games are. It has been consistently good.
This will all cease to be once I get back to writing about game music. So much of the scene's been tied to physical album releases, so having the music available on-demand is extremely liberating.

I made a big thread for this type of discussion that's been sitting inactive due to GOTY season. Pokémon music, like Final Fantasy, is a gateway drug that keeps on giving.

No shame, the only thing on my iPod is game music :)

I love Lilycove's theme, one of my favorites from the whole series. The town themes in general are always the highlight for me, not only in Pokémon, but in any RPG like game really. I like this remix- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GP7PGnwtYA

Route 209 from Pokemon Diamond/Pearl is one of my favourite tracks from those games, but I haven't decided if I like the Day or Night arrangement.

See now, that music pretty much is Diamon/Pearl for me.

Can't wait until their remakes. Just one more hardware gen... hopefully. :(

R/S/E is mostly meh, but some good stuff is in there. D/P/P is meh, don't remember a single thing about them. B/W is just terrible. R/B was good but G/S/C(the remakes fucked it up though) is the best. Goldenrod city>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> everything. Not sure about X/Y.

There's something bittersweet about the nostalgia I get when I hear gen 1 pokemon music. I often wish i was young again playing those games nonstop.
