Very impressive. And as always, it was cool to see that a number of those IKs have specific animations for its various victims.

It makes looking forward to seeing what may happen when Valentine and any other console extras get included down the line all the better~!

That's something that initially drew me to Blazblue all the way back when Calamity Trigger released. I'd never seen character lines change depending on the opponent before.

Seeing Ragna and Jin's relationship play out verbally throughout a match was revolutionary to me at the time.

Perhaps other fighting games did it first but Blazblue is where I first encountered this level of interaction between characters.

I wonder if they're going to add in matchup specific intros like in BB. IIRC BBCP's arcade loketest's didn't have them but appeared with the JP console release then later in the arcade version so it's possible they may do the same here.

Axel enjoyed Faust's special the most (dudes), going by his face, haha. But what did Venom say!? I was most interested in his reaction for obvious reasons.

EDIT: Duuuude, Venom's IK is sick. The best ones seems to be that are specific for characters, just 'cause they show off even more personality.

I still can't get over how amazing this game looks.

There are honestly several times where I stare at the footage and it takes me several minutes to find areas of the shot to determine that those are 3D models, not 2D sprites.
 
O mercy they need awards for graphics and animation. This is a dream come true. Imagine this in a Snatcher remake. Any genre for that matter. I hope they sell their techniques out to the game dev world.

Unfortunately it is Unreal 3 (I think?) so they can't simply license the engine they've so magically enhanced. Such a significant leap forward in 3D toon shading and animation. So much time must be saved compared to hand drawn.

I don't get tired of talking about this. It needs much more attention. It dearly needs to go beyond a fighting game.
 
I was that someone :D The best part of it? IT'S NERFED in the game that video takes place in. It's activation time was FAST AS FUCK in every other game

I thought it was you but I couldn't track down the exact post (I probably should have used gaf search instead of google).

It looks like they've changed it further as it's an uppercut now instead of a long range thrust. So it'll likely only be useful for combos (and maybe close range punishes depending on the move used and if they're in Hellfire or not).

I want to see Johnny get hit with May's IK and Bridget on the receiving end of Faust's special.
Well Bridget did tell faust to at least wait til he was old enough, which he would be now. So there ya go

They have done it with GG earlier, of course ;)

And I'm pretty sure they will make those intros for console version.

I think some characters are definitely going to have it easier than others. Like Sol being able to do it from his RC'd command grab (although that costs full meter and there are likely less meter intensive ways to land it).

Instant Kill in general seems like a very interesting mechanic at least compared to Astrals in the sense that you can do it at any time but there's a hefty penalty if you mess it up.

I expect many YOLO Instant Kills in Gaf's Xrd future. :p

Nerfed? Weren't they downright useless? Granted I never played past GGXX.

Hmmm still wonder what this game would look like if the animations were key framed instead of how ever they are currently doing so it looks "smoother"
EDIT: The game still looks like sprite based animations, which I understand is the style, but man silky smoth animations with these types of characters would look incredible

or if your character was named Ky and had the fastest ik in the game and could punish moves with it ;)
 
I just cant stand to watch these videos. The game looks so fucking good, I just dont want to see it in anything less than direct feed. 720p+

the criteria for super freeze IK are: on the last round, enemy has blinking health (like 20%ish), you have more than 50% tension (for the RC)

actually, it only costs 50% for the 1st RC, and the few tensions wasted during the super freeze, so if you have around 55% tension it's definitely enough
yeah you used the all your tension, but for a 100% win it's definitely worth it because you only need 55%ish tension for the win

I know IKs in general are useless (save for Ky and maybe Sol), but I just thought they're easier to connect before because they immediately do the instant kill move rather than having to connect it with a punch or a slash. Of course, characters like May have the same IK start up (connect with a melee), just annoyed that some like Ky and Sol lost their instant IK animation for a need to connect to a melee.

This game looks gorgeous! I wish other games looked this good when making the jump to full 3D. Instant buy on release!

Game looks amazing, I don't trust the developers to actually support it anywhere outside of Japan but would love to be surprised.
