Asked Greg and Mitch about the "forcing out" rumor...

Jonboy ‏@RetroRaconteur
@MitchyD @GameOverGreggy Anything more to report on the Druckmann/Straley involvement? That part was very disturbing.

Greg Miller ‏@GameOverGreggy
@RetroRaconteur @MitchyD: We've asked for comment. We'll see.

Yeah she probably would have made a tweet by now saying something like "sad to leave my family behind" or "thanks for the great x years. Will miss you all". No well wishes from the ND leads either so far it looks like. Pretty damning and gives credence to the rumour.

I fear that this could be bad news for the fans of the series, the writing is what made Uncharted awesome.

Considering the writing in The Last of Us is miles ahead of anything in the Uncharted 1/2/3, I think they'll be just fine. Like I said a few pages ago the last great thing Hennig wrote was the Reaver series.

I want her to go indie. Make smaller games that she wants to.

she'll do what she wants, but you can bet her inbox is full/phone is ringing constantly with offers from other studios.

she should try and get together with some of the peeps let go from SSM and start a studio...

If it was a creative difference issue then it may not have been an amicable split but she wouldn't have been forced out in that situation.

She would "feel" forced out, in her opinion, if Neil and Bruce are given a much larger creative control over the project she has been lead writter/director in from the start.

I sense her pride was hurt and had felt she had to leave due to their creative differences and possibly their new lead. She wasnt sacked.

Very true. However to this point...

In fact, even if she was forced out, she wouldn't want people to discuss it in public like this. It's her life and career. I wish this sort of tabloid journalism, knee jerk reactions and wild speculation didn't exist, but we all know that isn't going to happen

Usually when a split is not on good terms, people don't like it aired out in the open. It's bad for the employer and employee. So even when people are fired or quit their jobs, usually both parties put on a good face. I'm guessing someone within ND or someone that knows someone that works there tipped off IGN about this.

I think the jumping to conclusions is getting worse.

That's great and all, but did that hit you when you were playing the game?
Absolutely it hit me, I saw a man struggling that was more concerned with who he was as opposed to where he was going. Made that scene much more impactful.

Feeling forced out and actually having Neil and Bruce saying something like "she needs to go" and getting her fired are very different situations.

also, supposing the 'forced out' rumors are #truthfact, should we expect more peeps leaving ND out of support for Amy and in opposition of such underhanded practices?

They seem extremely passive. If my eggs where going into one basket, it would be the one that I described above. Shes hurt Neil and Bruce have too much creative freedom/writting in a project she created. Sounds alot more likely to me. No reason Bruce/Neil would have an issue with her, if shes doing her job, especially if they are lead. *IF*.

I think more telling is that she appreciates the "kind words" - perhaps because she wasn't getting any at ND the past couple of weeks as some in the company plotted machinations to force her out.

Dude, I don't know how you came to that conclusion just by her saying "kind words". You are one hilarious poster and I hope it's intentional for your sake.

Is this a joke? She's one of the industry's best talents, and her leaving Naughty Dog is a HUGE loss.

The rational that actually makes literally no sense in hindsight is "Well, Druckmann and Stanley created TLOU, and that's way better."

The Last of Us wouldn't exist without Uncharted being created and garnering critical acclaim along with really good sales. This fact makes those unsettling comments seem even more stupid.

bish gets all the credit :)
Yup. and If that 4chan rumor is true, I commend her for standing by what she believes in.

Sony should get out in front of this, because if Neil and Bruce are heading UC4, we're going to hear about it when they give interviews about the game.

I doubt she'd comment on the forced out stuff.

First, she's a professional. Professionals don't openly discuss such things.

Second, she probably can't discuss specifics because of her severance package.

It seems far too late for them to be heading UC4. The game already had a director, not Amy, and Amy was probably mostly done writing it and was overseeing creative direction. This is probably related to future projects.

Pretty terrible start to the year for Sony. Cancelled project at SSM and one of their best talents leaves Naughty Dog.

If we get a new LoK out of this though, we've all come out of it winners.

maybe, Sony can assimilate her into one of their other studios? Perhaps, Guerrilla Games like some peeps were saying. LOL

Well maybe most peeps agreed with it or like their current job that pays good money?

so... what's the big controversy, then as far as her being 'forced out'? o_O

Is that a real post from a couple weeks ago?

Don't know. It was linked in the tweet that Hennig replied to.

Mitch should've waited for an official comment before publishing the "forced out" part and dropping names. There's enough story for hits with just Hennig leaving the studio. No need for additional gossip. Then again, this is the same IGN dude who wrote that terrible naked eye 720p/1080p article.

Why would she admit it? I'm not saying I believe in it 100% but it'd better for her to deny it before it picks up too much traction. Hell Gameranx already reported on the /v/ source.

So you're saying she's lying.

If that were the case, I can't imagine why it would be them forcing her out, I don't see how the paths have crossed.

I think it's more likely the project was in trouble and they've been asked to finish it.

Well presumably they have anonymous sources. This happens all the time in reporting, what's the good in just waiting for the official statement

I dunno, they could be coming onto UC4 and redoing a good deal of stuff and pushing the release date back to coincide with Driveclub and have a killer holiday 2015.

Would be worthless, you're never going to get an official comment on someone being forced out.

Considering how rock solid Cage's position appears to be in that company, I'd imagine she'd lose her damn mind working with such a terribad writer after two days.
Probably not. Two writers that seem talented moved to France already and are working with Cage since 2 years. They seem to be in a fine condition mentally lol

They did say they were trying to decide between a new IP and TLoU2 for their next game. Maybe both of those projects got greenlighted and the one that she pitched didn't.

I also don't see why they would be called in to help a troubled project when Sony's statement said the development timetable for the game has not changed.

i didn't know walking dead is considered amazing writing.
