Kotaku: Leaked Images Reveal One Of This Fall's Two Assassin's Creed Games

They are gonna tony hawk this franchise so hard.
We are 7 games (counting games that made I am to hom consoles) in and the series can still hold its own AC4 was awesome.

It's not to say the same series didn't have low points AC1, Revelations and AC3 had mixed reviews.

Tony Hawk was going downhill with THPS4 then THUG was good and everything after was poor.

AC has lots of appeal. Historical settings add new flavour to the series that set them apart.

honestly, i have no idea. people aren't really talking about wii u anymore, so i dunno.
wont be the 'nxt gen' versions though

Yeah, if Wii U gets anything, I'm sure it'd be the "last gen" game.

However getting nothing at all is probably more likely at this point, sadly. There's probably a better chance Wii U gets the next CoD game than an AC game.

Did we ever get LTDs for any 2013 Wii U 3rd party games in any of the recent NPD threads? AC4? Ghosts? Blacklist? etc?

Not to mention that AC can change settings and gameplay styles in a heartbeat. What are you going to do with Tony Hawk? Introduce guns and aliens?

Piratessassins of the Creedibbean was my last Ass Creed game. It solidified the voice in my head whispering that I just don't give a crap about these games anymore. They can make it look as pretty as they want to, the gameplay itself is just not doing it for me anymore.

I'll move on to the next Ubi pirates game though. Cutting out the AC parts would make me actually enjoy it.

THUG was excellent, THUG2 was soulless and terrible, THAW was pretty great, everything after was trash.

Fatigued series don't have a perfect downslope. They have increasingly varied peaks and valleys as the overall quality slowly declines.

CoD is in the process now.

This is a great setting, but I was hoping for Victorian London. I'm not liking the idea of two games, one for this gen and one for last gen. Hopefully they both come to PC if they're significantly different.

Not to downplay their efforts, but feudal Japan was the one historical setting that would have made me consider a purchase at this stage.

Right now, the French Revolution just does not look interesting enough.

Thank God it wasn't Japan/China. Can't think of a more boring and uninteresting setting as that.

French revolution sounds interesting. Plenty of history there.

French revolution was actually in my top 3 picks, so i'm glad.

Russian revolution and Victorian London also would've worked.
Or late 1800 India.

I'd be really please to see Ubi split the development and given the next gen version the attention it deserves. ACIV was beautiful, but I know they could do more with the hardware.

Edit: And what is this about the French Revolution not being interesting? It was always one of my favorite historical periods.

The way it seems to have gone so far, my enjoyment of Assassin's Creeds game is directly proportional to the quality of the cities therein. Brotherhood and 2 have the best cities in the series, and from a gameplay perspective to me they were the most fun to play because the cities were clearly laid out for the maximum effectiveness of your free running abilities.

That this game is seemingly returning to an era and location with quality cities for freerunning is what really excites me with this leak.

Ok, trying to think of French Revolution-era nobles and politicians who didn't die under the guillotine. Jean-Paul Marat, and... damn. Well, there won't be lots of famous targets for the protagonist, I guess.

Historical urban setting in basically every Assassins Creed game > Lush tropical setting with free exploration, fishing, ship battles and sailing? Okay man.

Settings with very few vertical heights in a game about climbing > cities with massive towers? Okay man

excited... im a big fan of the series but i don't want to see this on last gen consoles. We need to see a truly next gen assassin's creed game. Black Flag should be the last cross gen title for assassin's creed.

The leaker said that AC:Comet was developed externally.

edit: wait, it's not that clear? Are there 3 games?

Ya, 3 titles. Unity for current gen, comet for last and a 3rd game by an external dev who had a title release this month itself.

Have no idea about comet but i received a message from a fellow gaffer who described a a game that is completely different from unity. From what he told me, its a pirate based game set in 1758 and takes place on the atlantic ocean, you play as a english guy called shay and betray a old and bearded adewale who is his captain. If true, this should be one of the other titles for the year.

Again, this is something that was messaged to me so unlike the plane rumor i didn't see this stuff personally. I personally have no reason to trust the sender but i also no reason to believe that he would waste his time on something that wouldn't even get him any credit.

As for the game developed by the external dev mentioned in the last thread. The developer mentioned to me is so small its hard to even imagine ubisoft handing them a title like AC given they have gazzillion people working for themselves. i doubt they could even ship a AAA console title let alone a game with the size and scope ASsassins requires. So as far as i can think, its either a mobile title or its for the vita with sony footing the bill and having an external team work on it (think bl 2, black ops vita). That team has some vita experience too btw.

Pure insanity.
That sentiment has been repeated many times. I seriously don't get it. Just because it isn't the setting you wanted it doesn't mean the one they chose is boring. They absolutely butchered everything interesting about the American Revolution, hopefully they'll get this one right.

So much nice lookin' stuff to scale. :D I've been really missing this particular aspect of the franchise since AC2. It gradually got worse starting with Brotherhood.

So, YAY! Finally getting the French Revolution. AC3 practically killed my interest in the franchise, so much that I ignored 4, despite the glowing impressions it got.

Why would Ubi want to release 2 AC games in one year anyway? It sounds like the stupidest thing they could do.

Surely it will only lead to saturation and also consumer confusion? Only the die hard AC fans would buy both and even then I bet they'd like to have them both on next gen.

by a fairly large margin, actually.
so not sure your source?

Would be interesting if someone tallied the GAF thread here a month (or two) ago. Pretty sure French Revolution was not the top choice
Personally it's the one I wanted the least of the popular choices. (Japan/Egypt/Vikings)

Because a comic is already set in India, I doubt that setting will ever become a full game (though I'd love it).

You ignored the best one in the series by far? Change this right now, man. For the love of god!

I'm interested to see what the 'Unity' AC looks like once it's revealed proper. I figured I would end up skipping AC this year because there would be too many games to purchase, but as of this time there aren't a ton that I want that are confirmed for this year -- so maybe AC can slip in if it looks like a significant jump. Of course, E3 could have some reveals that change that, as well.

One of this fall's big Assassin's Creed games, called or code-named Unity, is set at least partly in 18th-century Paris, according to early leaked screenshots obtained by Kotaku.

If either game returns to the focused, story-driven, platforming-heavy approach of the Ezio trilogy, I'll pick it up.

If they're both in the vein of AC3 and 4, it's time for me to part with the series.

I wonder if they'd release both on pc. No real reason not to unless it's additional cost for the last gen title whereas the current gen title would be easy to get on a pc.

I'd buy them both on PC because I'm a complete idiot.

Here's hoping they continue the modern day storyline, maybe restart it somehow with new gods and aliens and whatevers.

This looks more like 16th century Paris rather than 18th. No Haussmann renovations in sight.

If Unity is Paris in 18th century, Comet will be something parallel; maybe 18th century Budapest & Vienna. I know it's not going to be London, they are keeping it for a bigger title. A numbered title.

Definitely doesn't make things up as he goes along.

GAF is but a tiny drop in a very big sea my friend.
Everyone here could vote one way and it still wouldn't be a 'top choice'
