Infamous: Second Son Review Thread

It's a really fun game, guys. Also, remember 7/10 is a 'good' score by most metrics. Nevertheless, we gave it an 8/10.

Push Square

There’s an unparalleled sense of empowerment in inFAMOUS: Second Son that makes it a release to be reckoned with. Bursting with more attitude than a high school hardcore band, this out-of-control excursion effortlessly nails the sensation of possessing superpowers. It may put its plot forward a little too forcefully at first, but persevere and you’ll be richly rewarded with an appetising roster of outlandish abilities. While it does little to push the open world format forward, this is still a series that’s very much in bloom.

The game could get 5/10 and as long as the review makes sense, I can accept it. But Sessler said the first game had an interesting city. I love inFamous but I'm honestly wondering if he even played the first game. The city was grey and boring. It has one semi-interesting area, and that interesting area was a bit if a pain to get through.

Also, plays like a last gen game? I must be missing something, because every game released so far is just a previous gen game with prettier graphics.

Again, it's not the score. It's the content. It could have gotten a 5/5 and I'd say the same thing.

videogamer.com review reads like a bunch of babbling bullshit.

I can't believe that is an acceptable standard of gamer reviews.

Just need to know if the reviewers liked the old games or not, if they didn't their opinion doesn't matter to me.

Sessler giving Titanfall a 5/5 despite the game having basic features missing makes his inFamous review that much more of a joke.

He gave Titanfall a 5/5?

sessler doesnt quite get the combat well imo. He complains about have to dash in and out of combat ... well thats essentialy how the game is supposed to be played. the devs even mentioned ths that dash adds this whole new dynamic ... Other points he makes I can put down to opinion and thats cool to each his own

Ya that the part I didn't get. You dash out get an idea of where all the baddies are at and dive back in and kick some ass. Very strange complaint imo.

Maybe he liked TF more overall? Reviews are, you know, opinions.

this. he explains his opinion perfectly in the IF review and just didn't enjoy the game as much as some other people i guess. he liked TF a lot more. dunno why people are comparing the two reviews when they're for two COMPLETELY different games.

I don´t see anything wrong with the scores, i´m surprised there´s a lot of 9, the game is clearly a 7, maybe an 8 for it´s graphics only.

Looks like a next gen game, plays like a old gen game = 7-8 is fair.

Sessler giving Titanfall a 5/5 despite the game having basic features missing makes his inFamous review that much more of a joke.

exactly, there are a few people I take out of the scores and I do the average myself, those score reviews I take out include...

-anything involved with Adam Sessler, Eurogamer, and polygon. I'm serious. regardless of an 8.5 score from polygon, I can't take that site seriously, same goes for Sessler, he is a big joke and Eurogamer, don't even get me started with them.

I'm really interested to hear what Colin Moriarty thinks of this game. (No sarcasm, I'm a Colin fan and he knows inFAMOUS and playstation inside and out...unlike Sess).

I never finished any GTA game and got bored before the middle in ANY Gta game. I left "GTA V" even earlier.

I played through Infamous 1 and 2. Of course it's his review, not mine. I'd hate if GTA V became some "reference" for other open world game devs.

Gameinformer: 8.5

agreed. GTA was impressive, but it wasn't that fun.

Right? I'd rather have 10 hours of fun than 20 hours of mediocre. The thread's not about GTAV, so I won't keep pressing the topic, but that game was over rated in my opinion.

Either way, can't wait for this game.

It's why I always say...who cares about reviews?!

It's not my style game, but if you enjoy the series or want it.....buy it. Have a blast...who cares what the reviews say.

True words my friend. I enjoyed the Infamous games, so I don't care about the review scores as someone who plays the game. I do want it to score high for Sucker Punch though, but I don't rely on the scores for my enjoyment.

Ah, reviews spread out from 7-9.5. People who wanted a reason not to like the game will jump on the low scores, fans will jump on the higher scores. Sounds about right.

Everything I have heard is calling this the best Infamous yet, and that's all I need to know.

Edit: lay off the rev3 review a 3 on a 5 point scale is extremely different than a 6 on a 10 point scale. A 3 means good not great (4 being great). So Sesseler said the game was good, but had some things that kept it from being great to him.

The only good that came out of Sessler's review was that brilliant segueway into the dollar shave club plug.
