If the FB Like button started to appear in my FOV when I'm wearing my consumer version of OR, please tell the judge that the murder I committed was just.

What the FUCK.
Zuckerberg better let them do their thing and keep his shitty ideas out of it. I just want him to bankroll it so things can go faster, nothing else.

You know, it kind of makes sense. VR has he potential to be much broader than just games - virtual tourism, telepresence etc. some of that would suit Facebook really well, expanding how we communicate with each other in the future.

Facebook sexting will never be the same again.

So basically either Facebook want to make the next iteration of their service just like PS3's Home but with a VR interface or they want to make their own Steam like service for set top boxes and/or their own hardware?

Pass.

My smugness at not having a Facebook account has just increased..., it's skyrocketed.

As lame as it is to say just by virtue of a buyout, Oculus all of a sudden feels a lot less intrepid and interesting

Clearly, this is Zuckerberg's way of creating something along the lines of Google Glasses, which when branded with Facebook will take off like fucking hotcakes.

So long as they don't kill off there VR development in terms of game software, I have no problem with this coexisting.

What the fuck.

That being said, it is not necessarily bad. Being backed by a huge company like this means they'll be more easily able to compete with other large companies. Hopefully their core principles remain the same and they retain control for the most part.

Oh man. So many kneejerk reactions.

Maybe its just me, but I don't see this killing it. At least, no more than anyone else buying them out.

Also fucking hell $2 billion? Who the hell wouldn't take that?

Mark Zuckerberg saw the potential for interactive VR Advertisements revenue and well done for the Oculus Rift for getting the Internet to support them and their KS into this move.

Nice played, PR team.

Well... I'm glad that Palmer and company can swim in money from now on. It'll also enable them to invest more money into development.

But still. This sucks. Facebook is the one company everyone is tired off -- being associated with them won't do their image any good.

I hope this won't affect the development community surrounding OR...

I thought about them getting bought, and I understand the implications for things besides gaming, but fucking Facebook? This is crazy town.

I bet Sony are very happy right now (I mean, they're already pretty happy, but even more so I recon)..

Yep, I bet Shu did a fist-pump to the sky when he heard the news.

I wonder if this will convince Valve to throw their hat back into the VR ring now... I know they have Facebook on Steam and all but still.

Oculus guys cashing out.

Carmack will most certainly be leaving.

End users will abandon it.

Facebook just got left with a husk, IMO.

...a 2 billion dollar husk.
