BBT is a decent show, but it's really dumb sometimes.

I am not much a fan of the show but I understand why people like it. It's like Casa Ole or Panda Express. Yes, it's food and you'll get full, but you could always have something 10 times better.

Stalemate is not surprising. I thought they were xbox peeps before though?

I could point out several reasons why I believe that someone who considers themself a "nerd" (or however you want to define what is probably only a shred of ones personality) shouldn't find the humor funny, but like I said, I'm honestly quite okay with anyone feeling different than I do. If you see something you enjoy in the show, whether it be sheer charm or just appealing references, I see no reason to attempt to ruin that for you. I can see what some people say when they believe it perpetuates negative stereotypes in relation to what it means to be a video game / comic book / whatever enthusiast, but honest to god, I just don't care haha.

Because the jokes are actually based in reality instead of some idiotic exaggeration designed to appeal to people who don't know anything about technology.

I liked how Sheldon said "Xbox One has the Kinect, but PS4 has removeable harddrives." As if that were at all comparable. Also did he not mention the price of either one at all?

No Sheldon, PlayStation was also known as PSX.
It wasn't known as PS1 until PSOne release or when PSX (PS2 video-recorder) recorder.

Would have been a good nerdy talk Sheldon saying that when he explain this to Amy.

I think IT Crowd is one of the best comedy shows ever, way ahead of BTT, but BBT does the better job of introducing the general public into nerd culture. Mainly because if you're a very intelligent and successful scientist, people will be more acceptive of your antics than if you're an IT drone in the basement.


This episode was pretty good btw, the date thing was amusing (though they change his creep/charm level according to the plot) and the "console war" was pretty good stuff. Especially going through the console names :p

It's mindless fun anyway and the only place I know that actively (and passionately!) hates it is gaf.

They owned both a PS3 and an Xbox 360 so it doesn't even make sense that Sheldon was picking.

The characters in IT crowd are even more exaggerated than BBT (which is why it actually took quite some time for me to get used to it), but the big difference between the two shows is that the IT crowd actually has jokes and comes up with funny plots that barely use the geek tropes as fundamentals, but not as the actual plot itself. BBT doesn't have real jokes and barely boils down to pointing at ,,these dudes are unbearable weirdos saying computer stuff I don't understand and the others are retarded plebs. BAZONGLES [laugh track]''.

I don't actually mind watching TBBT but just making a point.

Sheldon is such a massive nerd that he play Rock Band and Halo. The most obscure thing we saw Sheldon play was Zork. Hell, he do not even touch at Antimatter in a show about physic jokes. Sheldon is a Bro gamer.

Let's not perpetuate the myth that not using humour is supposed to be humourous. That makes us no better than the Big Bang Theory writers.
