Trials Fusion Day One Patch - Increases res on X1, improves F.R on PS4

In an email from Ubisoft’s PR containing our review code for the game, we have officially received details on how Trials Fusion will look on each platform. As their first game to release on multiple platforms at launch, it seems that RedLynx has successfully mastered the art of multiplatform development. As expected, the PS4 and PC versions of the game will be running at 1080p while the Xbox One version will run at 900p after the game’s day one patch. On the other hand, the Xbox 360 version of Trials Fusion will run in native 600p, “like all leading games on the platform”, with each version of the game running at a constant 60 frames-per-second.

Additionally, the game’s day one patch has been detailed, which will increase the resolution of the Xbox One version from 800p to 900p, and will improve the frame-rate of the PS4 version. Other fixes will deal with track central issues, leaderboard issues, and replays not being in sync. The game will release physically and digitally on Xbox One, PS4, and Xbox 360 on April 16th, with the PC version coming later on the 24th

Good news all round.

was that written to make xbox look bad? it seemed obvious yet professional enough to pass. ha

i honestly would not of heard of this game if it was for the resolution stories.

Like all leading games on the platform? What does that mean? That they only consider low res games like CoD as leading?

I don't see the issue with a day one patch for this title. It's a digital-first title, because even the retail version requires that you connect to the internet to get everything that is "in the box."

I assume he is talking about the previous Trials games on 360. They were both sub-720p.

I know, that's one of the most hilarious phrases I've ever heard. There are tons of games (Gears, Halo 4) that are native res.

I think I would have kept this under the radar. Nobody looks good.

I don't know, transparency is important. What if someone bought the disc versions of either console, put it in, skipped the patch/weren't online, and either got frame drops on PS4 or noticed the not-900p on X1? I think it's great that people know "Hey, you're gonna need this patch for this reason."

Remember when CoD on PS4 was only 720p before the patch, and people only found out by playing it that way (if I remember right)?

The real disturbing part of this news should be the slow erosion of the RTM and the movement to day 1 patches becoming the actual gold version.

Why would there be a day one patch for a digital only game? I understand retail, but for digital surely they'd just patch the server side copy and make you download the one complete file

Personally I'm all for day 1 patches...there is no reason for them not to continue to work and improve the game after going gold

That being said...I know there is a lot more than meets the eye in a game like Trials with stuff going on under the hood...but I would have thought, that even if it was a sloppily coded mess...the Xbone would have the horsepower to brute force its way to 1080p

Because they still have to submit a master build for cert.

Previous trials games were 720p on x360, right ? Edit: Nope, just read the above posts

Lol at the 600p comment.

Also, we don't know what the differences are between different versions yet, right ?
Are user created tracks shared across different platforms ?

They shouldn't even admit game needs a day 1 patch on X1 to pull 900p

you realize PS4 had day one Res patches?

This shows that the dev may not be fully familiar with X1 tools. On the same hand I can see how this may be embarrassing but 900p is fine with me if the gameplay is great and the game still looks good.

I was shocked when I saw the title as I was then really expecting the Xbox One to get bumped to 1080p but damn, 800p to 900p... for a Trials game?

I had every Trials game on the 360 but picking Fusion up on the PS4 this time, hope the DS4 is up to the challenge.

How is it that Wolfenstein can run at 1080p60fps on Xbox, but super physics Excitebike can't? What is going on? Save us DX12!!
