there no yaoi in Death Note..

Thats odd. But NISA always experiments with releases.

I don't mind having the combo pack, but the considering the first season's re-release sets I would have preferred having the same style of a re-release considering this being from the same series.

In my opinion, I wish that NISA would do standard editions similar to when FUNimation released their season sets with two thinpaks inside a slipcase. With NISA's premium editions already coming in two thinpaks, aside from their BD-only movie sets, all that would be needed in the standard edition sets would be the slipcase and story guide leaflet. The only difference would be the lack of an artbook. I truly did not care for how hard it was to get the discs out of the Bunny Drop standard edition set, feeling that I was going to snap my discs to get them off of the spindles.

Akuma no riddle - 01

Great premise in this first episode and a great way to introduce each character.
Everyone is messed up
EVERYONE

And i'm not that in all this chaos i detected traces of Sdburton but given that it will become bloody and trashy later i'm not sure what to think.

But i'll follow this one ..it's going to be great

One of these days I'm going to make the next thread. It'll probably be the first OT I ever make in GAF.

I swear if I'm not #1 in Wall of Shame, I'll watch Boku No Pico. So please stop posting and let me get those points up yo.

Well you're only like, a hundred posts off. You just might make it!

Lol. Now watch Corvo and Cajun come in and post like 50 times just to ruin his day. Hahaha.

I'll watch Garzey's Wing then. This never happened. I wish I had a gif of a man screaming at the top off his lungs "CAJUUUUUUUUUUUUUN"

This is like a sports manga. Only I won't learn my lesson after losing as learning one would mean posting even more.

And Yet The Town Moves 4

First off, nobody show Moriaki-sensei Cardcaptor Sakura.

Second off, his equation there seemed...off. Equation was (Teacher + Student)/Morals = 0. Problem with this equation is that if this is true, morals do not factor in at all. Because only 0/x = 0, so in order for this to work, (Teacher + Student) needs to be 0. So morals don't even matter in the equation he presents.

As far as his "natural enemies" go, what seems to be in common between Hotori and his second grade teacher is that they make him look at the world in ways his straight-arrow self cannot comprehend and is heavily resistant to. Was funny how enraged he seemed to get at Hotori doing that math problem, but instead of actually answering the question, said "They couldn't have moved that sphere inside the house; they had to have built the house around it". They really are such polar opposites. And whether or not Moriaki-sensei wants to admit it, there is attraction and a whole lot of sexual tension between them.
You are reading into this incorrectly, sir.

Spice and Wolf 1

This is a very pretty show in HD, I must admit. I have seen the first season, so I don't know how interesting my impressions will be, but I will say that I'm a big fan of the OP and ED (in all its Engrish glory). The characters are quite interesting for an anime; Lawrence is witty, charming and confident, while still being laid-back, and Holo is proud yet playful, without being snobby. They're both very likable leads, and they can make even the relatively dull subject of economics seem interesting.

As for this episode, it's basically an introduction to the characters and the world. There is religion mentioned, but it's not a focus as of yet. My favorite moments are probably Holo's loneliness at reminiscing about her homeland, and Lawrence's moment of fear at witnessing Holo's true form. Also of note is the ending, where it is established that Lawrence and Holo are on equal terms. Lawrence does not worship Holo or view her as anything other than a companion, and Holo does not look down on Lawrence as a lesser being.

I did watch this dubbed, as I feel that it's appropriate for a vaguely medieval European setting. The acting did seem a bit stilted, but I'm hoping it improves as the series progresses.

I'm watching it subtitled, but I also found all of those moments impressive. I like how when Holo revealed her form, the focus was always on Lawrence's reaction, leaving the form itself to our imagination.

Also the ED is adorable. The Engrish and the chibi art are a devastatingly cute combination.

I just started the second season of Louie, and the first scene is of Louie brushing his daughters teeth, and I felt nauseous.

You fucking ruined me, anime. I hope you're happy.

Woah, there's a new Break Blade adaptation? I'm hesitant because the production of the OVA series (or was it a movie series) was so awesome that it helped support the okay source material. That still had some of the best animated mecha fighting alongside Akito the Exiled (and the high production episodes of Majestic Prince).

Space Brothers 88:
This was a phenomenal episode, up there with the very best of the show in my mind. The sequence early in the episode when Hibito awakes from his dream and has a panic attack while in the taxi was absolutely stunning on the direction front. The visuals were just perfect, and they did a great job just making everything feel slightly askew, creating a really oppressive atmosphere with the rain, and coupled with the music and the performance by Hibito's VA gave us what might be among the very best sequences in the entirety of the show.

Transitioning past that, we get the long needed Mutta/Hibito interaction that feels like in some ways, the emotional climax of the series, with Mutta finally getting a chance to properly be an older brother to Hibito (although he still manages to do it in a very Mutta-esque way). It also took some real courage from Hibito to call up Mutta and decide to confide in him to begin with. This episode works so well in part because it relies on and builds upon everything done with the characters to date. Every bit of strange ways that the brothers dealt with one another, Mutta's jealousy, Hibito surpassing Mutta and not needing a big brother figure, and so on, it all comes together here and creates a truly spectacular scene, and one which is emotional to watch, but not in an overblown way. While lesser shows might try to get you with 'feels' or by pouring on excessive melodrama, Space Brothers is confident enough in its writing to present to you this dramatic moment where two brothers talk to one another and slightly change the roles of their relationship, and it's worlds beyond what any of those 'feels' anime could ever hope to achieve in terms of emotions. It's a beautiful thing for a television show when it has build up a character or characters over a long enough period of time that it can confidently alter their situation slightly or put them in an important conversation, and create a huge response for the audience simply by their understanding of what this would mean for the character as a person. This is a form of character development which is sadly too often lost in the rush for a constant barrage of explosive action, crazy revelations and plot twists, and 'feels' driven melodrama.

It's not really new, they are recycling the films into a TV show.

It's basically a retelling of the movie series just edited down to TV format and with apparently some new scenes?

I love Break Blade, reading the manga.

But I don't know if it's a new adaptation, but them breaking the movies into episodes and adding a few extra scenes.

edit: jinx both of you owe me a soda.

I've been told the new Broken Blade adaptation is just the old one remastered or recut or something.

Ah okay. I'll probably skip it unless they have gone back to the canon with some events/characters.

I love Break Blade, reading the manga.

Yeah now that I think back on it, the manga source material was better than I thought in a lot of places. Still nothing groundbreaking though. Also: 14 year old with 28 year old body and vice versa, etc. JAPAN

I'd shit my pants if Yamada and the Seven Witches gets animated because the manga has a good blend of romance, comedy, slice of life, and even drama it's really great. Just hope that the PV gets a million views which is getting close at so it might get an anime.

Pointed hot glued anime figures, Akihabara's most deadly of weapons.

I have not hot glued a single one of my figures Im proud to say.

What do you mean? I know NISA has separated standard editions into Blu-ray and DVD formats before, but this is the first time I have seen NISA release a series with more than one season like this. Since they decided to make separate Blu-ray and DVD releases for season one why keep season two as a combo pack?

they have always separated seasons so it is a bit strange. They have even separated one season of a show into two volumes like with Toradora.

Pretty sure the Season 2 Premium Edition is now, or soon will be, OOP. Now I wish I had purchased the premium edition to the first season so the two sets matched on my shelf. It bugs me enough that FUNimation didn't make Heaven's Lost Property: Forte into a combo-pack at the start, or at least make the slipcase for the BD in a DVD-sized holder so it could fit in with the LE DVD like they did for first season re-releases of Strike Witches and Sekirei.

mismatching s1/s2 packaging is the worst. For Spice and Wolf they made the season one come in a dvd sized case but S1 was in a bluray case so it looks awful :(

Why did this thread get repurposed as the Spring thread? Who slacked off in making the new thread?

Its a brave new world we're living in!

Kanojo no Flag ga Oretara ep 2

Holy shit, that was the fastest pacing episode ever, so many stuff just went off and got introduced to 4 new characters wtf.

First Kana Hanazawa was a girl who was identified as a guy in IS now she is a guy who was identified as a girl.

Kayano Ai, Asumi Kana, Kana Hanazawa, Yukarin, Aki Toyosaki.etc That is one stellar cast for a romcom show.
