GRID Autosport leaked (360/PS3/PC only)

This is a weird thing. It'll be interesting to see the difference between this and GRID2. GRID2 didn't even fell like it came out all that long ago.

Hmm I'm slightly concerned with this and Borderlands being last gen/PC only. Does this mean that the next gen versions are likely to miss out on PC ports?

Lol no. PC will get the best of all worlds this gen, when it comes to multiplatform ports. Next gen versions are almost guaranteed to have an equivalent PC port as well, unless of course they're just enhanced versions of the last gen games.

Case in point, the Tomb Raider DE that just came out for the PS4/XBONE.

Dat x86 architecture.

The game is a console port. Your playing a PC game that is using 9 year old hardware as the baseline. So yes, it's last gen only.

GRID 2 looked amazing, more so then other current gen games.

So if it has the same look, it can definitely be considered current gen on PC.

I sure hope so, but this smells a little fishy to me. It's not unheard of either with PC getting ports of last gen sports games etc. Tomb Raider is a bad example, because they haven't patched the DE additions into the PC version because reasons right?

It just seems weird. They want to make a splash with the next BIG entry on the next gen consoles so don't want to water it down with up-ports... but they don't have the same concern about PC entries?

Oh man! Was looking forward to this game. But I don't play on any of those platforms anymore. My loss, I guess. Will wait till tomorrow's announcement before I give up hope.

Dammit. Newgen deserves better racing than a sterile NFS, a neutered Forza, an infinitely delayed Driveclub and Project Cars probably being Q2 2015.

After how lousy Grid 2 was, not going to even bother here if there's no PS4 version. Which is a shame since they seems to be going back to real-world content which is what I loved from the older Codemasters stuff. Even if it's pretty good as some middle ground between the first Grid and a ToCA title its fate is sealed as a flop on PS360. At least put F1 2014 out on the new machines, please.

After the DLC fest that was GRID 2, I'll wait on this to hit bottom bin prices. It's still over $59.99 to buy the game with all DLC on PC.
Green Man Gaming had Grid 2 Reloaded for £6/$10 USD 2 days ago so it's possible to get the game on the cheap if you know where to look ;)

Screens look good but when don't they? Having said that, aliasing on the A-pillar (white Ford Focus @ Hockenheim) and roofline (yellow Merc) makes me wonder if these screens aren't legit which would be a first from Codemasters in some time.

As a PC gamer, I'm looking forward to see if CM are true to their word however as already noted, if this is a release for just the PC, PS3 & Xbox 360 and skips the new consoles I'll be knocked over with a feather.

Different strokes and all, but I can't believe how many people bury their systems as long as a newer one is available :0

Do you remember how upset people were when Pokemon Black (or Black 2? I can't keep up) was announced for DS long after 3DS was out? And that system has BC.... lol

This is a mix of people not wanting to use their old ass 2005 tech and this will likely come out at a time when PS4/XB1 have games, games that people would rather play than play some ugly last gen game at sub-HD and inconsistent framerate.

If you've been keeping up with NPD threads I'm not sure why you'd release a last gen only game anyway, PS4 and XB1 sales are stronger for almost every multiplat outside of casual stuff like Lego 12 and Just Dance 19

I'm seeing some touring cars. I like that.

If this is the next TOCA Race Driver, I might be in for the PC version.

For me, it's simply a matter of convenience and practicality. I don't have space for more than one console. My devices are saturated with cables as well. It simply doesn't make sense for me to plug out the new one and plug in the old console, just for one game, when everything else I've bought is on the new console. Unless something like the last guardian or half life 3 is made old gen only (lol), I'd have no incentive to do that. I know I'm depriving myself of many potentially good games, like this one, but I'm not hardcore enough to experience all of them anyway. Will just look for something else to play instead.

I should learn from you, honestly. I recently bought a WiiU and at this point, I think SNES and GCN are going to the closet :( I might switch my PS3 Slim for a Slim Slim because I'm really running out of space, lol, it's going to be terrible when I buy a PS4.

SNES and GCN?! o_O

It's been 15-20 years since I touched my SNES! :D

More likely these last gen games will be lower quality/budget offerings cashing in on popular franchises.

Pretty sure it happened last gen, too.

Well... it sure do look nice [on PC]. I'm tempted to try it out if its has nice support for sim physics.

Codemasters dev already confirmed that cockpits are in.

Surely with a PC version, Xbox one/PS4 can't be far away? And surely codemasters aren't silly enough to still be doing the 'only announce last gen, then announce current gen separately after 3 months to get double dippers'? The speed at which current gen is transitioning makes that a dumb idea, and for a grid game even moreso IMO.

So it's legit. PC/360/PS3 only? :(

Yes, PC as lead platform for us (it's not a PC port as some have said).

Next-gen GRID will come in time, we're not going to rush that and get a game that can only run at 720/30 or something similar, next gen has to look and feel like 'next gen' for us.

Wow, it really is last-gen only. AMD GPUs typically run Codemaster games really well, GRID 2 was notably good in this regard too. I would expect that with AMD tech in the consoles they'd be a worry-free port. But it's probably not that simple.

A little disappointing. But then again, I'm not a thirsty owner of a current gen console, so it's not keeping me from enjoying the game.

Fair enough. Thanks for clearing that up. Guess I'll have to wait for my turn :)

Also, PC being the lead platform is good news. Looking forward to some footage!

I think that's perfectly fine.

This makes plenty of sense for those used to Codemasters racing games in the past few years. Work on the next gen engine for the future titles, while squeezing one last cash-grab out of the existing, tired engine right now.

Yep, lots of cynicism in my post, but I think CM have treated their releases and their target market with equal, if greater amounts of cynicism in the past few years.

PS360 again?

Sigh, I have to hope this means that the real GRID (GIRD3) is currently in development for the PS4/X1 and will be announced during E3 or shortly thereafter.

So,

- classic gameplay
- 100% usability of FFB wheels
- 100 tracks on 22 locations
- proper career mode
- we got a hint of cockpit return?

Okay, I am damn interested.

We're bringing our info forward, give us a few mins and you'll get the answer to everything.

Grid 2 was terrible with a wheel, way too arcadey. Last gen release only means the game will bomb for sure.

Hmm, was hoping for a XBO version to be honest.
Oh well, PC it is then...

Looking forward to the info and media.

I would've died if it was called GRID: Fully Sick Donuts Around A Pole.
But Autosport sure does sound very promising..

If this spinoff shit's anything like Dirt Showdown we're gonna need to lock it up and throw the key into a volcano. Dirt Showdown was garbage.

I'm not getting a sense of a 'hook' here for that much of a diversion. I imagine the name distinction is because they want to save the next numbered release for a current gen game.
