Haven't been interested in a COD game for ages being a BF guy but this screenshot has piqued my interest. Please be Idris, that would be great :)

A. Idris Elba?
B. Wow, isn't Ghosts season pass halfway done?
C. Please, do something different like Black Ops 2, that game was the 1st good COD since MW2.

Like I said in the thread earlier, I think it's just there attempt to try to win back over the media and gamers. Ghosts took a beating and there have been a lot of rumors and comments from Activision that this game is different. That's not to say that it won't look and play similarly to CoD, but it seems like they're trying to do some things to win people back over. The fact that lots of people are impressed by the screenshot is just a first step for them. When is the last time people really praised CoD for its visuals?

That's a good point. I'm not a big CoD fan, but I had noticed that Ghosts received a pretty bad mauling by most sites and gamers.

It'd be nice if Acti did try something different, I mean it can't really hurt right? If sales are dropping much faster than they thought, might as well take some risks and hope they pay off. (I'd personally love a return to WW2, but that's never going to happen)

And yeah, the screenshot is pretty damn impressive. Hope we get some actual gameplay in the world reveal.

Campbell : This mother company embodies the five largest PMCs. Her name is... "Outer Heaven."
BlackSmith: "Outer Heaven?" You mean...!
Campbell : That's right... It's Liquid.

Dead space helmet lives! Can't wait for the trailer I liked mw3 from sledgehammer better than the treyarch games.

I havent been a fan of COD for some time now. But this screen shot has me excited. I guess its the potential of the series being on new hardware, combined with a futurstic looking setting

You could tell from a single screenshot? And graphically it looks much more impressive than previous CoDs.

Sure it might look much better in motion. The point is that im so tired of these modern/future shooters that all look/feel the same. Its great if people think it looks good. I just dont agree, unless this is last gen.

My understanding is sledgehammer was created to work on a new cod, got started on it and then got pulled to help IW with MW3 when that went down right? And then back to working in this after? So a good solid 3 years dev time at least.

Hot damn, that doesn't look bad at all.

Hopefully the exo-skeleton manifests itself in a meaningful way during gameplay, could be the shot in the arm that cod needs to freshen up.

The look of that character makes me think that Drift0r's info was accurate as well

Someone sent him a bunch of files (video and images) of a game they claimed was CoD 2014. The futuristic tech look of that character is something that he talked about seeing.

I'm still surprised that some random tweets about Destination Playstation turned out to be real.

The significance of Acti showing COD first at a PlayStation event cannot be overstated.

Other than the very first game (PS) call of duty is an "XBOX" brand for all intents and purposes....it is also available for PlayStation but if Acti is gonna release DLC first of PS4 and or do like how Ubi are co-marketing Watch_Dogs/AssCreed or like they themselves are marketing Destiny, MS will lose MASSIVE mindshare to PS4 very quickly

I expect it to be the usual cinematic trailers that they put out. But the ramp up of media for CoD is usually pretty fast and consistent. So, we probably won't have to wait too long for actual gameplay. Especially if they're trying to win people back over.

Will this be the first COD I enjoy since COD4? We will find out in the fall!

Certainly looks pretty nice from that cover, excited to see more on Sunday.

Their original game was a sci-fi third person shooter called Call of Duty: Fog of War based on various legal statements relating to the Infinity Ward lawsuit.

This might not be a million miles away, but I suspect it's from scratch.

They were also listed as a CryEngine licensee at the time of Fog of War, so I suspect they don't have any tech from that era either.

Hmm interesting. Thanks!

Well, there are two notes on that:

1.) Their sales have been tanking for a while so I imagine they want to get the new content in front of a lot of people.

2.) I'm not convinced that there isn't actually a TV ad campaign at the same time given it's Sunday.

19 million units sold is "tanking"?

So has Call of Duty moved away from any realistic event or time period? Because the series is starting to feel even more stagnant if every game is some sort of fictional dooms day scenario involving mega robots and well hidden terrorists. Seriously, every big budget shooter now is set in modern times or some goofy future time where everything is hellish but advanced.

If it's not Idris the resemblance is uncanny.

It is. Though it's more likely an artist at Sledgehammer Games is an Idris fan and used him as inspiration for the character model. That said, on the off-chance Idris is "starring" in the next CoD, well then Activision...

Year over year, it's painful for Activision's financially, yes, even if it's selling a lot.

What's important to them is to return to growth or stability, so if they think they have something really good, they want to get as many eyeballs on it as possible.

The FPS genre is gonna get interesting, maybe publishers and developers realized the military FPS crap has gone stagnant and are flipping to SWAT and COD: Crysis.
