I'm gonna laugh if there's another male villain that has super abs

The art direction is a lot better than I thought it would be. Hopefully this will turn out to be one of the best in the genre!

Also please be a playable character ;-;

I think Impa's SS design is much better. There are a lot of borrowed elements, but some elements seem random. The baddies are maybe the most generic fantasy villains you can have.

I'll give that too you for two out of three, but the short fat one looks like a Zelda character as much as anything could.

It's subtle, but this is definitely the most effeminate version of him yet. Higher eyebrows, more oval shaped face and that slight bit of makeup on his eyes all leads to the bishoujofication.

It's actually very close to SS Link, maybe a couple of years older looking, but the high eyebrows and thicker eye lines were there.

Back in the N64 days, they had to "pretty up" Link in Ocarina Of Time because one of the dev's wives complained that none of the Nintendo characters look pretty (so far the myth)

I think creating a more feminine/pretty version of Link might have some small impact of some people

If not during a part of the game then I wager after you finish you get to play as her.

I thought it was the opposite. They gave him a bigger nose to unpretty him because pretty characters didn't fit Nintendo at the time.

She most likely will be. I'd imagine it'll be a case of beating the story mode to unlock her.

Nah he originally had a button nose I believe and a developers gave some input about changing it.

Shoujo manga and anime of the decade was characterised by big noses (see avatar), although you can also make the argument that the nose made it easier for Link to have a distinguishable face considering the amount of polygons available for him at the time.

Surely this is the most female looking link.

Be grateful this one is wearing pants. The old link was running around in a blouse and skirt. No long johns no nothing!

She's not the main villain, she's just brainwashed and crazy. I assume she'll become playable after you defeat her, which could happen pretty early in the story.

You know, I don't think Shia's cleavage or exposed skin is the problem I have with her, it's her outfit. Her outfit is not practical at all; the only purpose it serves is to accentuate her cleavage. The two TP characters who keep getting brought up as a means of a counterargument (Telma and Iza), both do indeed have a lot of cleavage, but neither of them fight or wear armor. Their clothes are just regular everyday clothes, as opposed to Shia whom is wearing armor that in no way could be practical in battle. Also, I don't think boobs work like that, seriously one wrong twist to the right or left and suddenly this game would be rated M.

The only Zelda characters who I feel you could make a convincing argument with are the Great Fairies. However, I've never perceived their nakedness to be sexual in nature, but rather a means of further establishing their ties with nature.

I think Impa's SS design is much better. There are a lot of borrowed elements, but some elements seem random. The baddies are maybe the most generic fantasy villains you can have.

I concur. The darker skin-tone of SS Impa works better in my opinion, and elements like the generic slash over her eye (which pays no homage to the Sheikah symbol) feel like they were added randomly.

Agreed. Really not liking the character designs or plot of this game, tbh. I'll probably skip it.

Yeah, I'm not sure about getting this either. I'm still waiting, but overall the game still feels pretty meh. Kinda angry it's taken so long to release, as that 200% confirms Zelda U is still pretty far away. I really wasn't expecting to be released soon, but there was still that lingering strand of hope.

They probably just gave her cool looking armor just because. I feel sad because its a game. Shouldnt this be able to happen in a fantasy game ? :(

Well, she's a villain, they often dress flamboyantly. Plus, she appears to be a mage... and they rarely wear full body armor.

I'm not sure what you mean. It was announced just a few months ago and will be out this year and its release has nothing to do with Zelda U.

Well yeah it can happen in a fantasy game, I just feel that because of her outfit she doesn't mesh well with the Zelda series. All three of the new characters, Impa to slighter extent, and even some of the areas stand-out like a buch sore-thumbs. Basically, the designs just do not mesh well at all.

I don't think Nintendo would want a mainline Zelda game releasing close to this, as the mainline title would absolutely destroy this games sales. Because of this, I image that, even though it was never likely, Zelda U is not a 2014 title, and since Nintendo rarely releases Zelda games outside of the holiday season Zelda U is most likely a 2015 holiday title and a whole extra year away. I've been of the mind-set that Zelda U will be a 2015 title for some time now, but any type of confirmation is still soul crushing.

What if Link's design in this isn't an original creation from the devs but based on concept art / final design for Link of the Wii U Zelda? I'd be happy with that. I am way too susceptible to Protoman Syndrome. Give a character a cool scarf, increase cool factor fourfold.

Read some of the Zelda manga, there are some similarly designed characters to be found there.
