I hope everyone knows that the new screen shot is from a stream and not direct before "downgrading" accusations are made. You'll make yourself look stupid.

We don't want another U3 embarrassment again.

Perfect...along with improved motion blur/explosions/shadows/lighting. I would say this is a very worthy improvement to the visuals! Now about that direct feed Pessino....

Yeah, it's a real shame you can't, I dunno, actually read what people have to say and actually consider whether their criticisms are legitimate.

Yes, clearly, there is an anti-Sony conspiracy at play here.

Haha exactly.

I own PS2 PS3 PS4 PSP PSV

Resogun is my favourite game among all next gen games so far (I own all next gen consoles), Uncharted 4 is probably my most anticipated game along with FFXV

But i'm obviously part of the new anti-Sony junior group cause I don't like what we've seen (never saying that the games are actually shit since I didn't play it) of their two fall games.

I guess it looks good visually (I like the titles and the relatively seamless transition from cutscene to gameplay while maintaining what we've traditionally thought of as cutscene-level image quality) but the video is so muddy that it's honestly hard to tell. Also, as someone mentioned upthread, the action is dull as dishwater. It didn't even look like the player was aiming at enemies properly half the time.

You're judging this off of a screen shot vs a stream capture? Really? And even then, the lighting in the new footage looks much better.

LOL, how does one figure out downgrades by comparing direct feed to twitch stream? Do tell.

The comparison was to understand how things have changed artistically and if there are obvious changes like lighting, shadows etc. Let's not go down this silly rathole.

She was floating shadowless above the floor in the old pic. I'm pretty sure this (current) lighting provides a lot more atmosphere to the scene. There's just quite a lot imagination needed to picture what an uncompressed frame of this scene would look like in HD.
I dont like the blue hue in the new one, old one just looks more atmospheric plus that candle light in the background looks nice

Looks spectacular. Sadly also super lame when it comes to gameplay/combat. How can anyone get exited for this in 2014. Looks like a standard 2007 cover shooter but worse (again, talking about gameplay).

Just a friendly reminder that RAD does not control what videos are shown or when, they probably help make them but Sony's marketing department (incompetent bastards) control how and what is shown.

‏@Dalubai8 4m @AndreaPessino @tiberiuslive The police uniform looks different too and the level detail looks worse in the new video.

‏@AndreaPessino @Dalubai8 @tiberiuslive the assets are the same or better - you just need a better video.

So give us a better video:)

All of this could have been avoided had they released some HQ footage. Why do Sony developers in particular continue to do this of late?

First it was Drive Club and the IGN disaster and now its 1886 with twitch stream footage that makes the both look worse than it is and makes it look like it suffers from technical issues.

Get your shit together Sony. A 30 second HQ clip sent to Gamersyde would have done a much better job building hype than this 3min twitch stream footage.

Sigh. It's not even worth getting upset about any more...they won't learn.

I think we may need to sit down and have a frank discussion with Sony marketing, for their own damn good.

We can do this. For instance, our ad-hoc workshop with MS has done wonders.

Trust in GAF. We're the best damn press outlet covering the interactive entertainment industry out there.

Yeah they're still not getting that the only way to promote their games this gen is through native resolution uncompressed trailers.
But I hope that the HQ video is released next week =)

I notice too. Latterly, they doing on Youtube all the time. And this Twitch..

Lol wassup with Sony. Save the bandwidth bill I assume.

Y'know, as a "teaser", it's worked really rather well. A game that dropped off the map a little bit has come back with a sudden 60+ page thread on NeoGaf full of praise (and expert formalwear analysis), and everyone's screaming for a high-quality version. I've no doubt they'll release it in the next week, which will keep the hype train running. Give the public what they want... But not all of it. Yet. Keep her screaming for more, as AC/DC said.

All in all, job done I think. ;)

Much preferred the look of the old costumes, they've really made a mistake changing(downgrading) them.

The visuals still look nice but it's a shame the colours have been toned down, why change this and the costumes when the visuals were praised previously?

The motion blur looks great and l like the particle effects. It seems the game has an unlocked frame rate as it didn't look stable and has the occasional screen tear.

Gameplay, well from a 3 minute clip it's hard to feedback but my first impression is it looks an interactive movie. A modern day dragons lair (which is an interactive cartoon)? Probably a bit harsh but movement looked limited.

I know it was just a 3 minute preview but are humans going to be the main enemy in this game? From the reveal trailer I was under the impression this was going to be about fighting supernatural monsters and stuff with crazy weapons.

I hope there's more to it than just shooting dudes with a different looking assault rifle behind cover in old timey Europe.

I just went back and read the game informer article. The entire sequence (starting with the clips released a few months ago) has been described in detail. I really, REALLY hope that's not what they end up showing at E3. It has been out there since November!

Now if they want to end on that note for Tuesday's preview and have something different for E3, then I'm totally hyped for Tuesday. Because the next sequence involves
tons of half breeds pouring in and a certain call for air support

It's a 3-way conflict. They are just keeping the monster reveal tightly under wraps.

Different, but not in a good way.

The use of lights and shadows is definitely better. The problem is that the video quality is so abysmally low that it makes it look like the characters don't have any textures on. :lol I don't understand how Sony holds out on completed, good-looking Driveclub footage for weeks but will show this crap without a care in the world.

This is pathetic.... can you guys at RAD please release the damn direct video capture so we can see everything clearly?? I know you are reading this thread.

If by pathetic you mean all the guys going "holy shit, etc." when it was playing even on a stream then sure... Though I do agree it would be awesome if we got some mostly uncompressed direct feed footage given how good this looks over an inconsistent stream.

Also, LOL at the backfired comments compared to the reactions when the video was playing.

Honestly if I was RAD I would be very upset with Sony

Upset with what? All the people going holy shit when they saw the graphics when the stream came on?

Guys can we get excited about the fact that we have finally reached a point in video games that we can actually play a game that looks like an actual CGI!?

This. The graphics and effects in the gameplay looked amazing.

Yeah, but like, how can you hear the voice in your head when you read the words if you're like deaf and stuff?

Does the voice in your head use sign language?

If you're actually deaf and this is tasteless than I apologize profusely, and you can punch me in the face.

you don't need to be able to hear to THINK, dude..
my god. lol.

That's exactly what I thought, the new uniforms looked a lot more functional and less flashy, the other uniforms looked quite ceremonial.

What the flying heck is with the video quality? Geez, it's fricken 2014, HQ or bust. With that said, the game looks good, but I need to see something more than shooting human enemies.

This will probably be a good game and there's a good chance I'll pick it up eventually, but hard to be hyped for another TPS.

Sure the teaser could be an interesting idea but the execution was terrible. Why stream over Twitch? Now instead of people talking about the game you've created some discussion about potential performance issues.

Marketing is all about perceptions, do you think they created largely positive impressions from the teaser?

They need to rehaul that department like they did with 3rd-party relations.

Sorry as a business student I just see this as a wasted opportunity, very irritating.

The visuals can be attributed to the poor stream quality.

There is no downgrade, read the last couple pages. The developer tweeted
in response to the images. There are separate uniforms/assets for differing occasions.

It's hard to say Sony's marketing is bad when they recently put out the fastest selling console ever and have managed to sell their recent first party offerings really well.

I don't like, or even understand why they're showing their prettiest game in shoddy ways, but I don't know that it's bad marketing.

I said backfired because the video should be bringing in the hype. Driveclub and Sunset Overdrive did just that. The video for The Order just brought in questions of fps issues, screen tearing, and downgrades. It should not be doing that. Without showing the video at this time it would of saved the image of the game a lot better. I'm just saying they should of waited til E3, because in my opinion this just made the game look bad.
