Leaked Battlefield: Hardline gameplay

Doesn't do them any favors if it gets trashed critically in comparison to CoD. BF4 did enough damage as is.

I'm actually kind of curious to see how this does on that front.

On the one hand the multiplayer isn't going to be a huge jump obviously, but on the other hand the singleplayer should be better, which is what a lot of reviewers base their reviews on.

That is a fair point, but has single player really hurt BF all that much in the past? Usually it's a "SP is forgettable, MP is great, 8/9 etc etc" affair.

With Visceral behind it though yeah, I do expect the SP to be at least worthwhile.

I'm kind of expecting the multiplayer to be a bit more exciting than just one guy running around on a map in a mode that matches what BF4 does in context tbh, but I will openly admit I could be wrong.

These are two of the more unique ones stylistically relative to BF4:

They don't look miles away from BF4 if you really break them down, but the aesthetic is more different and the scope of the vehicles used a bit more in line (they still seem to have artillery-grade weapons) with what I think people were imagining.

Saw it earlier and I agree with others that it looks like a BF4 expansion. Not too enticing, but I'll wait until we see the game properly at E3 before making any real judgement on the game.

Being worse than Battlefield 3 or 4 would be a monumental achievement.

Although to be fair I didn't make it past the third mission in BF4's campaign so I can't comment on it's overall quality.

Though, and I might be out on a limb here, I doubt it got any better.

Are these intended to be the primary modes or are they being highlighted for the purpose of differentiation? Because like Call of Duty they could advertise their new, unique modes but everyone still gravitates towards the ones they are used to.

3 and a half minute loading.

Battlefield 4 loaded ENDLESSLY for me too. About 5 minutes on PS4 or PC and I have a decent gaming PC. Every game would be ending as I jumped into it.
Looks good, but nah, not with those load times. I could be doing something else with that time.

I think it says it all the way it's titled BATTLEFIELD: Hardline. It even sounds like a Battlefield shoot-off.

If EA truly wanted to push a cops and robbers style game, they would have given it a completely new title. Or at least given a more police oriented subtitle than 'Hardline.' I worry that Battlefield will become EA's Assassin's Creed where all their games being to play similar to it with Battlefront 3 on the way. Not like 1 or 2 was all that different from Battlefield outside of hero units.

It's kind of up to the community no?

That said the beta is description mentions vaults so I assume Heist is in the beta.

Judging by the leaked video, Blood Money is probably the other mode in it, and it more like regular ass Battlefield.

Why the fuck would a swat member be wearing a parachute while piloting a helicopter?

The tone of this Battlefield is a joke. The multiplayer portion could've been a $30 expansion pack, while the single player portion could've been a $15 or $20 standalone digital release.

I don't understand how this is a standalone title while Vietnam was an addon for BC2.
EA being greedy because they have nothing this holiday really. I mean there is really nothing out side of sports that EA has in big games for Fall. Maybe Mirror's Edge but I doubt it.

Hmm, MRAPs are normal. But arming it with a 40mm grenade launcher, and a 50 cal machine gun is too much.

We have an MRAP ourselves as well as former bank vehicle and swat armored vehicle. None of them have 50 calibers or grenade launchers. In fact the best we have in the arsenal of the station are a couple AR-15s, Capone Era Tommy Guns, and shotguns.

Our police chopper which is shared with the Sheriff does not have miniguns.

"BUT HOW CAN THAT BE EXCITING TO THE AVERAGE PLAYER? Instead of treating and developing weapons that have a lot of different variables and pros/cons, why not throw in random firearms that very few countries use to begin with?"

Bloated gun variety fucking sucks.

The Tec-9 was extra hilarious.

Am I the only one who thinks that this "cops vs robbers" thing is incredibly silly? I know videogames are supposed to be fun not realistic, yadayada, but I just can't take this one too seriously. I don't think a cop would see this much action in an entire career.

Just got to that part.

The lack of smart creative design decisions is pretty sad. SWAT should have a very strict arsenal, weapons that are really accurate, have good range, but aren't great in really messy skirmishes. While the criminals should have a "dirtier" arsenal, weapons that pack more of punch, have more firepower/more powerful caliber ammunition, but the overall range and accuracy isn't as good as the SWAT weapons.

I pray Rainbow Six is actually still Rainbow Six. The wacky arsenal in that series makes sense, and generally certain weapons will beat out other weapons in specific circumstances.

Nope.

I can't wait for World War 1 Battlefield. Where bolt action rifles have foregrips and optics that mimic red dot sights. Carriages with horses with a automatic machine gun that's operated by the driver. And finally you can pilot the first planes created, while dropping gas on your enemies.

Would be cool to have undercover cops/corrupt cops infiltrating and trying sabotage their opposing teams.

What if you just had one player start and be notified of their status. Gets rid of infiltrating but makes process much simpler and more suspenseful because anybody could be the traitor.

This game is not worth $60 at all. People harp on Cod but this is 3 years in a row of releasing the same game. Really embarrassing and i feel sorry for whoever buys this.

Because Battlefield. Everything has to fit into the box that word implies. From the pointless gadgets (laser claymores, really?) to the parachuting out of the reskinned littlebird.

Visceral should have been left alone to make their own take on cops vs robbers, not forced to churn out an SP game while some bastardization of Battlefield gets slapped together for MP by various studios.

This is what you get when you annualize a title. And it will probably sell just enough to justify its existence.

Wanted to pre order this as soon as it was available to pre order, even with the mess that was BF4, after seeing this though BFH just looks like a BF4 mod, not something that looks like a full price title at all, not sure if i want to pre order now

I told EA so many times for years to don't do these kind of games and focus on the next/sequel to BF2142. They simply do not listen and now the response is what we are seeing in this thread. I guess EA love canibalisation and being a copycat.

Yeah, and if they blow their cover, they become regular cops/criminals for the rest of the game or there could always be a single spot to allow anyone to spawn as a traitor so long as nobody else is a traitor from your team. I want the former because it's ultra suspenseful but very worth it if you manage to stay in cover for the whole match (which would also mean not dying) and you can be a huge asset to your team. If you're the traitor, you have to be sure not to be seen killing anybody from the team you're infiltrating, sabotaging the equipment/vehicles, or helping out your real team.

You also can't be hurt by the team you're infiltrating unless you're caught. This means the team can't just fire at each other and hope to kill the traitor.

What other FPS are releasing near the end of the year? May need to look for a different FPS this year or just stick with BF4

I guess Destiny? that's a little different though. Surprisingly, a lot of the FPS's coming out for this generation have a big single player emphasis.

I wish this had been a Battlefield-esque take on CoD. Would've been cooler, maybe, possibly, I don't know.

No it wouldn't. At all. I don't ever want Call of Duty in my Battlefield. That day ever comes, I'll stop playing. Is this really what GAF wants? It's hard to tell and it's hard to tell much of anything from 5 minutes of someone running around a map.
