emmy rossum is fantastic on the show. the premises are starting to get out there sometimes but far from terrbile show

Yeah the premises are aren't the best but I just think the cast gets overlooked too much. Emmy Rossum always seems to get the short end around awards time. I guess the show isn't seen as "deep and serious" enough but the actors put in some good work.

Silicon Valley, by Mike Judge (Office Space, Idiocracy, King of the Hill, Beavis and Butthead).

The last episode of the first season (only 8 eps) has the greatest jerking off joke ever.

Silicon Valley started off kind of slow for me but by the end it won me over. It had some amazing scenes. Also another vote for Veep. Julia Louis-Dreyfus just kills it on that show.

A show I hardly ever see mentioned is Legit. I wouldn't call it the best thing on the air but it has it's moments.

Hannibal. I tell everyone I know about it. I have yet to get a friend to watch it. But when they do... they'll be sorry they didn't watch it sooner.

Justified has been a top-tier show for five years now and nobody talks about it. Walton Goggins and Timothy Olyphant have been exceptional for all five seasons, and have each received only one Emmy nomination each.

Also, Justified is on a major cable network in FX. Shows like Sons of Anarchy, Fargo, American Horror Story, and The Americans get talked about frequently, while Justified is mostly overlooked.

The best television show "no one" talks about is Rectify, actually.

Everyone talks about Fargo, as they should.

Crisis is a middling affair.

Banshee turned procedural in the second season, and the writing was never more than "good enough to get you to the next plot point or action sequence or sex scene."

Seriously, why aren't people talking about Rectify?

Episodes, too. Great British comedic talent like Stephen Mangan and Tamsin Greig (Green Wing) go overseas to USA to write a tv show, Matt LeBlanc from Friends plays himself.

What is he leaning on?

this is 100% the best and correct post

Rectify is on the same level as like Mad Men and Deadwood as far as im concerned

I'll second broad city. The first couple didn't really grab me but stuck with it laughed my ass off.

Review was also really funny. Andy Daly killed it

Endeavor - And not even one mention yet. My current favorite show. Maybe because I went through all of Inspector Morse last year and still think about it a lot that this show resonates with me so much, but I feel like something about Endeavor captures the human aspect of the detective serial better than the rest. Moody, smart and 60's sharp.

I really wanted to like Endeavor but it didn't click with me, which is weird cuz I love moody crime shows. I'll need to give it another go. Perhaps I need to be more familiar with Inspector Morse? Also, how is Inspector Lewis?

Hannibal - I have only been able to convince a single person to watch this show so far and he absolutely loves it. Everyone else writes it off because they think they already seen the best of the franchise and boy are they wrong.

Hannibal is easily my favorite show on the air and continues to blow away my expectations. People not convinced just need to take a leap of faith I guess.

You have probably not seen the Korean promo spots for this show

Eh, just stick with Endeavor. It gets better and is stronger than either of the Inspector shows that spawned it. Only 9 (?) episodes total so far as well. I did watch all of Lewis too: some episodes are really great (especially ones that get into DS Hathaway's backstory - I recommend watching 'Life Born of Fire' in that respect), but overall it's not as strong to me as Morse. But even then it's hard for me to recommend Morse to anyone aside from a few episodes as it's dated, slow moving and sometimes goes nowhere. You almost have to be a housewife or an old man to appreciate it. Unfortunately I'm the latter. ;)

Everyone should watch Hannibal before they spend time on something like Banshee. Banshee's fine but Hannibal is a completely different class of television.

Person of Interest is only actually underrated on GAF because it's not on cable and it refuses to stop being procedural so therefore it is "like everything else on CBS, therefore not worth watching because NCIS, CSI and BBT are on it and CBS is bad at television in general because it's not what I like".

YES. I never finished the first series though... :(

As mentioned, only 6 eps and all on 4od!

Finish it or i'll set Arby on you

Gonna recommend two other shows

Prey (ITV) Stars John Simm/ Crime thriller. Really excellent

and

Hinterland (BBC 4). Welsh noir crime drama. Dark as fuck. Bloody good though

Another vote for Rectify. I love Hannibal but I am not sure it is underrated. Sure it should have more viewers but I get the impression it is getting a lot more popular and definitely here on GAF there is a big enough fanbase.

Same goes for Justified I think and maybe Person of Interest? Both are amazing though.

EDIT: Forgot about Black Mirror, definitely Black Mirror too, amazing show.

Thanks. I figured I'm too late for Morse, but Lewis seemed intriguing. I started with the mini-movie premiere of Endeavor when maybe I should have started with the show. I finished Wallander and I'm trying to find another British moody crime drama. Vera looks interesting too.

Boardwalk Empire is the big one for me. I feel like that show's been overlooked by way too many people. It's a really good period drama, and it's already on its final season, yet I feel like it's been ignored by a lot of people. I have a feeling it will be more highly regarded after the fact. It just does so much right; good writing, has a great cast, and it looks good too.

Hannibal and Silicon Valley would be another two. Hannibal seems to get a fair amount of love on the internet, but ratings have shown otherwise, and most people I talk to in real life don't watch it/haven't heard much about it.

I'd never heard of Black Mirror but it looks right up my alley. I'll have to check it out.

Quite a few people have mentioned Rectify and that'd be my choice as well. My former boss and at least one of my other coworkers all watched Justified or else I'd mention it too.

I just saw Ray McKinnon created Rectify. That's reason enough to check it out

Several Deadwood alums are in it as well. It's an amazing show.

Impractical Jokers.

Funniest show out there right now.
Damn, I came here to post this!

I guess, I toss in Top Gear USA. There's something about genuine friends giving each other a hard time for their mutual amusement that's makes me actually laugh out loud.

I really dug the first season of Ressurection.

I'm just not confident about how many seasons they can realisticaly pull out of it before it reaches that "Lost" effect.

Sol..

I am Wayne Brady.
Banshee and Broad City are good choices.

In addition i'll add Billy on the Street, Eric Andre Show, and In the Flesh (in america, i don't know how hot it is in the UK).

I really like DaVinci's Demons. It is a historical fantasy fiction very loosely connected with real historical figures and history. The antagonist is some of the evilly evil characters magnificent bastard i love to hate, kind of reminds me of the Emperor of the Star Wars films, and count Riario is pretty interesting and another good antagonist. A lot of backstabbing here. I like historical/pseudo-historical tv series, and this one is a good one and it even has cool battles. Bonus points in its favor is that there are not many set in Renaissance Italy setting.

Hmm I haven't seen hide nor hair of the new Musketeers show on BBC so I'll go with that

the-musketeers-series-1-5.jpg

Utopia is up there too but I've actually heard internet peeps talk about it while I have literally never seen anyone else talk about musketeers. It's like it doesn't exist

I'll have to check out Rectify then

Justified. I mean critics like it but it doesn't seem to get a lot of love elsewhere, and it should be winning more awards than it does (especially Goggins).
