So. Shuhei Yoshida resign? Yay or Nay?

So far this year.

Naughty Dog loses one of the best creative forces in the industry as well as a game director mid project
Cancelled a new IP with $100m already spent at SSM. 50 long time staff fired
Launch game Driveclub delayed a full year
Guerrilla games has been working on a new IP for 3 years that "isnt ready to show" and who knows if it will even see the light of day
The Last Guardian killed after 8 years in development

Thats a lot of expensive cockups. I dont know about you but IMO heads must roll.

I agree.

Yoshida is fucking clown. Get rid of the guy.

This is inexcusable.

Didn't IGN also say a month ago that Nintendo would show off new hardware which Nintendo flat out said was false.

link

Nope. On an ign podcast someone said it but they specifically said they didn't trust the source enough to post it on the site.

A huge FU to Sony for continuing to egg us on saying the game was in still in development and making good progress.

Seriously, go fuck yourself.

Wasn't Shu saying not that long ago that he has played it? Maybe they just didn't want to deal with the development anymore?

Yes, lets blame someone who probably had nothing to do with any of these decisions. Good idea.

Maybe they've been working on a different game this whole time and Sony is giving this information out now to avoid confusion when they reveal their new game at E3...

I refuse to fucking believe it.

But ok. Let's put some logic into this.

- TLG is simply too big and too hyped of a game to be cancelled, right?
- Do you think Sony would allow for this to become public less than 48 hours BEFORE their E3 conference?
- Yoshida and several other Sony execs have openly stated the game is still in production.

If true, this is awful news. But I'll still wait for E3 to see if it's not just a prank.

And if it IS a prank. IGN, get ready 'cause you're gonna be on my black list....

I want to know how much money was pissed away throughout the years with this game. I'm surprised it took this long for it to finally die. What a waste.

LOL Golden.

If anyone's keeping track, I transitioned into the "random-outbursts-of-laughter" stage about 20 minutes ago. I really don't have any words for this one, but I'll sit back and watch. If IGN is basing this off the reports out of Russia and it ends up being false, the shit storm will be glorious.

They're probably right though. :(

I really thought it was gonna happen this e3 you know. With the whole movie theater thing going on, I thought to my self, it's happening this time.

Seriously, what the hell is this to disclose a thing like that right before E3? It couldnt have wait???? I mean, your there to try to make a good impression during THE gaming show of the year, and you announce a bad news????

???? Sony what is wrong with you???

I don't know why people were so into this game, there was no gameplay or barely any footage.

I understand following a good dev's work but the hype seemed quite unreasonable.

The game wasn't gonna live up to the ridiculous hype. Especially since it was obviously in development hell. If it's cancelled it is probably for the better.

It was time this game got cancelled, the team and everyone else needs to just let it go so everyone can move on and hopefully the game can reset, refresh and make a new amazing game. The Last Guardian was just a giant weight on their shoulders for nearly a decade, sad to see it go, but it had to happen.
